The Eye Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 Excellent job! I love the mountainous terrain and the awesome log cabin with mossy roof (one of the best parts). I also love the joke with the gold underneath his house! A very good MOC. Quote
Asilla Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Hi. I have just started to study MOC's but I like this one a lot. I wish I had more bricks so I could try to make one, but I have to wait a bit. Quote
Hinckley Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 This is quite impressive. I really love the way you achieved the gabled roof. You should really consider an entry in the Fabuland Builders Guild. Go get yourself some Fabuland figs and join us. It's a very similar style. This MOC has a very classic feel to it, yet it's look transcends the medium. The only disappointment for me is that there's nothing deviant in the cave. Although I like the way the door fits, I would also like to see it with Mac-K's suggestion. I'm a sucker for that part though. The classic doors and windows really are nostalgic for me. The wood railing up the stone steps is absolutely fantastic! I, of course, love the log SNOT technique too. That really helps to give the MOC it's unique look. I have a similar, yet very different, technique for a Fabuland log cabin at home. I can't wait to be around my bricks again. I miss them! The interior is excellent. I always appreciate a MOC that puts as much into the interior as the exterior. It's too often overlooked, even by me. I always like little surprises and used to love getting LEGO sets as a kid so I could finally see what they had inside! I was oftentimes disappointed, but some of the sets had cool surprises, like trans-mugs, brushes, drawers, stoves, pots and pans, etc... Is the bear skin a LEGO piece? Maybe from the DUPLO cavemen? Clever, if so. Great idea to post the WIP shots, although I spent way too much time looking at them. It's great to see the process though. I try to wrap my mind around what you were planning in each phase. Oh, sorry to bump this. I've been trying to comment on more MOCs and saw this in your sig. Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Beautiful MOC It looks very cosy. I also like the stairs to the house, because they are not perfect and all of the same shape, it looks very realistic this way. The flowers on the roof are a nice touch as well. But will they ever find the gold? Good job! Quote
Masked Builder Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 That is great! The part of the roof that just out is my favorite part. The roof is a nice color too. Quote
buddy Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 A wonderful MOC, Etzel! My favourite part is the roof and the colour it's in. I also like the overall look of the MOC, all of the different parts of it compliment each other well. Well done. ~buddy~ Quote
vlai23 Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 I really like this cabin as well. I wish the upcoming creator log cabin set looked more like this one, with the walls comprised of actual rounded 'logs.' The green roof does look good in this model, but I don't think that such grass roofs are too common in the USA, unlike Scandinavia. In fact, the first time I remember personally seeing such a roof in real life was on the train to Billund. :) Quote
Flare Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Wow, beautiful, great work!! It looks very nice. Quote
Ye Olde Pirate Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Wow, beautiful, great work!! It looks very nice. This is cool. At first the green roof looked peculiar, but it gives it a rustic mossy look. Good job! God Bless. Quote
Etzel Posted November 5, 2010 Author Posted November 5, 2010 Thanks guys! I really happy you like this MOC of mine, I too think it's one of my best. You should really consider an entry in the Fabuland Builders Guild. Go get yourself some Fabuland figs and join us. Fabuland, eh? Well, I guess I could give it a shot . I never owned any Fabuland sets as a kid, I'm a little too young I think and knew nothing of the theme until I came here to Eurobricks and saw yours and other FBG's MOCs. But it seems like a fun concept Is the bear skin a LEGO piece? Maybe from the DUPLO cavemen? Clever, if so. It sure is! part x1870 on Bricklink. I found it while looking for dark brown pieces and it has featured in another of my MOCs too. Great idea to post the WIP shots, although I spent way too much time looking at them. It's great to see the process though. I try to wrap my mind around what you were planning in each phase. Happy you liked that, I thought it could be a fun idea. I haven't done it after this MOC because I always forgets to take photos, but I will try and do it next time. Thanks again for all your nice comments! Quote
