Daniel Williams Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 OK, here you can discuss movies that 1 - Disturb you, 2 - Make you go WTF, & 3 - Why? Here's my list 1. Indiana Jones 4, 3 movies were good, but why add a 4th one to ruin it 2. Good Luck Chuck, please don't see it, Jessica Alba couldn't even save this 3. New Moon, lame plot and too serious that it looks like Days of our lives meets Degrassi Sorry, but I thought it be interesting to see what movies not to watch ever from other movie lovers
DarthSion Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 In no order other then how they pop into my head. 1. Doom. 2. Transformers. 3. Transformers 2. 4. Terminator 4. 5. Friday the 13th remake. 6. Surrogates. 7. BSG the plan. 8. Universal Solider regen'. 9. Fantastic Mr Fox. 10 bucks this thread gets closed when the mods wake up.
samurai-turtle Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 {Disturb you} For that category goes to "Idiocracy". If you watch it and are not scared you must have a lot of hope for the future. The main reason it scares me is how easy this can become true. One more thing this is a comedy (for those that do not know). {Why?} This one goes to "The Adventures Of Sharkboy & Lavagirl 3-D". First of the director's son wrote and he made it into a movie. Second if you are over five do not watch this. Now I can normally stand to watch "kids movies" but this one I regret watching in it entirety. Third it is in 3-D I do not think it was that good at the time (and no I didn't see it in 3-D. I watch it at home, where I didn't spend any money on it, one good thing about it.) And fourth :skull: George Lopez :skull: is in it as the bad guy no less. (I guess Mr. Lopez is all right in small does but he can get annoying after awhile.)
DarthSion Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Speaking of which, while I didn't mind it too much, 2012 just for the stupid idiotology attached to the what 12th time in my 30 year life some clown has claimed the world will end on such and such a date.

Batbrick Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Transformers 2, goo grief do I regret seeing that film in the cinema. It was utterly vacant, no good comedy, no good action, no good story (or any at all for that matter), tiring jitter cam and the most unlikeable characters. It also had quite a few racist and sexist tones that whether intentional or not irked me to no end. Batbrick Away!
Big Cam Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Jackie Brown. Even though Samuel L Jackson is in it, the movie is just horrible, it sticks in my head as the worst movie I have ever seen.
Dunjohn Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Happy Feet. Good God, those smug mutants really made me grind my teeth. The plot is unbelievably hackneyed, the music choices were nonsensical, uninspired and lazy, and oooh, it's penguins, let's throw an environmental message in there and let's RUB IT IN THEIR FACES UNTIL THEY SCREAM.... is it not possible to make an animal movie that doesn't demonize humanity? I could go on about this movie, but I'll spare you all, as well as my blood pressure. If I had just witnessed Hell itself and God decided to let me forget it, I'd say, no, Happy Feet please.
Captain Zuloo Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour. Definately one for the WTF category! That horrible film is what we have to thank for film clips like these:
commdr_neyo Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 In no order other then how they pop into my head.2. Transformers. 4. Terminator 4. 6. Surrogates. Why those I've seen them, and I liked them. (I've not seen Transformers 2, so it's not listed)
DarthSion Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 You mean other than the mindless plot and rubbish story lines. Transformers Michael plot yeah that means special fx Bay, enough said. Terminator 4, McG, low rent Bay, I mean come on, we are supposed to believe skynet a self aware machine can capture Kyle Reece, know who is is and who he will become and doesn't kill him, not to mention whats his face who played John is a rubbish actor. Surrogates was a great idea, just poorly executed and boring.
def Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Jackie Brown. That's a beautiful, awesome flick Maybe I'll watch it again. Jackie Brown was a great character. For me, Transformers 2 was a low point. I spent the next day wondering why I couldn't understand a popcorn flick, until I read a few reviews that explained it was pure crap. And yes, it was pure crap, with robots punching each other. As for 'why' flicks. Deliverance. I dare anyone to watch that and explain why that sat through it to explain what they saw. It's two hours of a bad bad feeling. I saw it once nearly 20 years ago, and it was already 20 years old at the time. And it made me and all my friends feel terrible. None of us forgot. Holy f#@%. What a miserable film. Watch it and tell me I'm wrong.
Tereglith Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Goodness, there are certainly a few... -Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. I regret to say that the first time I watched this, it was not the MST3K version. It was the real deal. Worst Christmas Movie ever is a difficult title to select, until you've seen SCCtM. Then it's a no-brainer. -I'll have to go with DunJohn on Happy Feet. Pretty much everything he said about it, I agree with. We were once watching it on a long bus trip for a field trip, and the only way to make it bearable was the way that my friend's heavy metal synchronized with parts of it freakishly well. -Babe: Pig in the City. It's all three of disturbing, wtf, and WHY? -Manos: The Hands of Fate. Happily, I have only seen the MST3K version. However, even with Joel and the Bots riffing it relentlessly, Torgo's thighs were still disturbing, and it was still the most "wtf?" movie I have ever seen in my life. However, I do know why it was made - on a bet! (thank you wikipedia, for that insight) -Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Six words: Jar Jar Binks, Midichlorians, Jake Lloyd. Seriously, they should have just cut out everything except the podrace and the Duel of the Fates. -And, lastly, there is a movie that I can ask "WHY?" for even though it hasn't even been made yet - Shrek Forever After. See? Just the title makes you want to shout "WHYYY?" Captain Kirk style. And then it makes you want to punch somebody in the face.
DarthSion Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 what TPM, blasphemy. On another note, just remember Pandorum, last time I listen to my best mate.
Tyrant Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Terminator 4, McG, low rent Bay, I mean come on, we are supposed to believe skynet a self aware machine can capture Kyle Reece, know who is is and who he will become and doesn't kill him, not to mention whats his face who played John is a rubbish actor. Depending on which time travel theory* they are going with, killing Kyle in the future may not change any thing. *The first movie sets up a stable loop, but the second movie shatters the loop. At that point, the best way to attempt to make sense of any of it is the alternate time line theory. You can go back and change things, but the future you came from is still there. What you end up doing is creating another future. If this is the case, killing Kyle is pointless (aside from the general effect of having one less human to kill later) because the Kyle in that movie is not the one who goes back to be John's father. That Kyle came from the original timeline and the Salvation timeline is the result of numerous changes along the way. The movie somewhat supports this with the appearance of Marcus, the T800 being built before it was supposed to be, and Skynet seeming to know what is going on. Now if someone other than the hack McG could make a part 5 to attempt to salvage things, this theory may actually get thrown out there in the movies. The loop simply does not work at this point. That said, 4 is still inferior to 1 and 2.

Surrogates was a great idea, just poorly executed and boring. I have to agree.
JimBee Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I'd have to say Gamer. I recently saw this one, and was biting my tongue the whole time. The idea was pretty interesting, but I thought it could've had the same effect without the nudity. Not to mention that it could've been done in a lot less time than it took, and the acting was ludicrous terrible. Lines poorly delivered, and I literally almost banged my head against the wall at the part when Simon releases his character (suddenly changes his mind after crying about it).
Corvus Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 -Shrek 2,3,4, and whatever they do after it... -Transformers (Both... I actually liked the second one more, but that's all relative) -Star Wars: The Clone Wars. I almost like the series... but a movie is just pushing it. Indiana Jones 4. I hear they're making another one. Happy Feet 2. Yes, I hear they're making a sequel...
DarthSion Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 It doesnt matter which time line or what ever they use, if they killed Kyle then he could'nt have been sent back, John wouldn't be born, Skynet wins.
Siegfried Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 10 bucks this thread gets closed when the mods wake up. So are you going to pay up or what?
DarthSion Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Given no one actually took me up on it, I'm going with or what. Up the creek with out a paddle, that was just horrible. Mortal Kombat 2. Resident Evil 3. The fast and the furious 2, that whole CGI race was lame, and the 3rd that whole can't drive around corners rubbish. Inglorious Bastards remake, over hyped piece of rubbish, and the subtitle, a movie should be watched not read. It was almost alright in a cheesy way, but I have to add the forbidden kingdom. I have didn't realise I have seen so many bad movies.
def Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Inglorious Bastards remake, over hyped piece of rubbish, and the subtitle, a movie should be watched not read. Wow. Another of Tarantino's best gets trashed in this thread. Inglourious Basterds was sublime. Subtitles and all. Christopher Waltz was awesome in four languages in that. Avatar gets worse every time I read an article about it. A beautifully wrapped box that had absolutely nothing inside.
DarthSion Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Well I couldn't understand that at first, but now it makes sense, a boring over hyped movie you like, but the highest grossing and would wide renowned movie you don't like. Did you enjoy transformers and terminator as well.
def Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Well I couldn't understand that at first, but now it makes sense, a boring over hyped movie you like, but the highest grossing and would wide renowned movie you don't like.Did you enjoy transformers and terminator as well. Couldn't understand Transformers, and I didn't make it through Terminator 4, I fell asleep. Lousy story telling, writing, acting, etc etc. I can't understand calling Inglourious Basterds over-hyped compared to ("world wide renowned") Avatar. Avatar has the most hype of any film since, um, Titanic Good movie making is not a democracy. I haven't caught Alvin and the Chipmunks 2:The Squequel, but by the logic that being high-grossing = good, well, take a hike Citizen Kane, 'cause there's a new chipmunk in town If you thought Basterds was boring, well, à chacun son goût. I call it story-telling and mood. You call it boring. I think it's okay for stuff not to explode in film sometimes. Really, there aren't a lot of movies I regret watching, it's usually middle of the road bland stuff, Angels & Demons, the first two Harry Potters, Star Trek Nemesis... Movies aimed at people with no taste in movies. Avatar looked great, but the story was terrible, and gets worse the more you think about it. If you shut your brain off, it's fun. Please keep in mind this thread is all personal opinions, there's no accounting for taste. Perhaps we need a "movies everyone has to see" thread so people can disagree on what's good rather than on what's bad. Cheers
