Posted February 4, 201015 yr Looking through BrickLink, the original hull parts were only available in red (Red Beard Runner) and brown (everything else). Now we have a choice between reddish brown (Brickbeard's Bounty) and dark brown (Imperial Flagship). If/when they continue the Pirates theme, what other hull colours would you like to see produced? I'm thinking in terms of what could be useful for MOCs. White could be useful for naval ships. Black could make some very sinister pirate ships. Blue or red would work for bluecoats or redcoats, and would make the seas more colourful. Grey and light brown are more neutral tones. Since the original range only had two colours available, I can't imagine them extending their current range beyond one more colour, so it would have to be a wise decision... Or, would you rather see the dark brown pieces available in a cheaper set? Personally, I can see a lot of potential in a lighter shade of brown. Not very exciting, but it gives more variety to the shades of brown we already have.
February 4, 201015 yr Black without doubt for me! Almost every ship of the line, whether it was British, French, even American had a black hull with copper plating below the water line. Although before copper plating and massive fleets many ships were not painted, but we already have 2 very good wood tones imo... Dread Pirate Wesley
February 4, 201015 yr Earth orange? Not sure, not familiar with ships. Also, a copper one would be good. Maybe even a dark bluish gray for steamboats.
February 4, 201015 yr Author Don't forget the white hull with the Armada Flagship. Oh yeah... I didn't realise there were two different hull sizes with the earlier ships, I was only searching for the larger ones. The Cross Bone Clipper also has a black hull, but it doesn't have any of the mid sections. So you can only make very small boats with a black hull.
February 4, 201015 yr A white hull would be great. There is one in the armada flagship, but as noted that is a narrow hull and has a blue top (grey would have looked much better). But a completely white large one, with the new molds will be very useful.
February 4, 201015 yr I think white would be the best, but with the current bow and stern hullpieces the white part would go to high, so then I think black would be better. So if the shape of hull pieces would change, I would prefer them white. And copper would also be nice
February 4, 201015 yr Plain black, white and a copper colour hull would do a great job for me, without a second colour like the classic LEGO ship hulls currently have. Some wider hull parts would be nice too, even the large hull pieces are rather small if you want to build close to minifig scale.
February 4, 201015 yr Plain black would indeedly be a nice addition, as Blackmoor suggests. Currently I like the red/old brown combination, used by the SES, most.
February 4, 201015 yr Don't forget the white hull with the Armada Flagship. I was going to mention that, I can't really see a realistic need for more than red, white, or brown. I suppose Black would be good.
February 4, 201015 yr Lego has many shades of brown, and I would like to see the hulls in Dark Tan, then again all brown colors other then tan itself would look fine to me.
February 4, 201015 yr You could probably gin up a black ship using the viking long boat hull pieces from the Skeleton Ship Attack set. It may take some work to make it less viking and more pirates, but if you were really wanting black ships... Steve
February 5, 201015 yr Black is definatley a colour I would like to see added to a pirate line, it could be quite useful.
February 5, 201015 yr The Ghost Ship in the Castle line has black mid-hulls, but the end was the Viking end, so they would only have to change to black bow/stern pieces. As for what I want to see all the old colors were terrific. The red ones look great, but the CC had black with green and they look so cool together. Also the white and blue looked great too. All the brown shades are obvious because these ships were all made of wood. In the end, whatever they do I would be thrilled. If the do make POTC sets I imagine a Black Pearl would have Black hulls, any British ship would be some shade of brown and The Flying Dutchman would be a gray shade. All these would be so cool, who knows we will see.
February 7, 201015 yr I would like to see a black hull and I would really like to see a new stern piece. Using the same bow pieces for the stern just doesn't look very realistic to me.

I would love it if they had LARGER hull parts. (that would be usefull) On the side of colors... I would like to see gray hulls. Blacks not a bad color either. It would be really awesome if there was a chrome hull... now THAT would be interesting...
