"After a meeting in the principal's office and a call to the boy's mother, he was not suspended. Um, maybe because a 2-inch gun doesn't look realistic?"

Not suspended. I would of clearly said "Put the toys away" If it was a LEGO or any 2-inch toy gun.

I think most school systems have a zero tolerance policy now. It doesn't matter if it was 6 inches or 2 inches.

I think you might be thinking of something completely different.

In advance I am sorry if someone else posted this (I could not find this on EB when I searched).

Below is an article about a boy getting in trouble over a Lego Minifig holding a gun (the good news is the author did their homework and said that the weapon was not a Lego weapon) However some other idiot uses the term "Lego - size gun" in their article headline and then AOL posts that in their Headlines and drops the word "Size" and puts up the heading "9 Year Old in Trouble For LEGO Gun".

Also I think it is insane that in the USA if you bring a 2 inch plastic gun to school you might get in trouble.

Here are Links to both articles

Stupid Version of Article

The reason it was misconstrued as a Lego gun is because the principal saw the kid play with a gun with a Lego fig, and therefore went with the assumption that it was a Lego gun. It isn't the author's fault for using the term "Lego gun" when the parents and teachers are saying "Lego gun".

I was being a little factious. As AFOL are wont to when conversing about mundies (muggles) and their interactions with Lego.

Anyway, my point still stands. There was a thread not six points from the top.

Wow, hold on, how come the principal's actions represent all of the US? What about the mom and the parents? Are they not Americans either? Just saying...

Fair point.

I guess this is where I stop this fine topic.

It's "ha ha"-funny to laugh at the "gun incident", but it's not supposed to turn into a 9/11, Iraq, political kind of topic.

We'd rather not have those around - just like religious topics aren't supposed to be here.

I'm shutting this down before it becomes a foreign-policy-terrorism-kind-of-bashing.

When I made this post I could not find a similar topic. I used the search feature and came up empty. I even scrolled through the last 3 pages of recent posts. Maybe its time to get my eyes checked or work on my computer skills :classic:

Sorry for the doulbe thread.

Could an Admin Close this one?
