ZueriHB Posted July 24, 2010 Author Posted July 24, 2010 (edited) I don't want to say it but the previous FLIRT design was much more better! 1. Doors: you can't avoid to build it with SNOT technique. The two wings of the doors are typical, you can't subsitute it with one window! 2. Windows: the black strip around the windows diseappear, your train won't be similar to the original one. I think you should continue the previous modell, changing the whole front of the train! I will redo my FLIRT, as I want to scale it back to L-Trains and maybe 6wide. Also I may present my first ever Train MOC (again) It's not perfect, as I still have trouble getting something SNOTed right. Driven by 2 RC Motors, PF rechargeable battery box and cleverly hidden IR receiver. Edited July 24, 2010 by ZueriHB Quote

ZueriHB Posted January 24, 2011 Author Posted January 24, 2011 Made some modifications, also added lights and has a better overall look. I also modified the steering-car, I plan to alter the middle coaches too, but currently lacking parts to do so. Quote
roamingstop Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Now this is looking really good. Makes you want to put a camera inside and drive one just like the real thing Seriously though the only downside I can see is that they are almost too narrow compared to the Sx series - but then 6 wide is the standard these days. Did you attempt to make the doors open at all? The curves on the upper glass work are also just right. However to be really picky... the window spacing should be slightly different for the mixed 1st / 2nd class carriage in the middle. Excellent - im forwarding to my Swiss friends in USA. Quote
ZueriHB Posted January 24, 2011 Author Posted January 24, 2011 Now this is looking really good. Makes you want to put a camera inside and drive one just like the real thing I could do this for you with the real thing. Seriously though the only downside I can see is that they are almost too narrow compared to the Sx series - but then 6 wide is the standard these days. Did you attempt to make the doors open at all? The curves on the upper glass work are also just right. Sx? You meen DPZ or 450 series. I did go with 6 wide as a) all my trains are 6 wide, b) it's easier for lower than boogie plate waggons c) it wouldn't fit clearance on my track. However to be really picky... the window spacing should be slightly different for the mixed 1st / 2nd class carriage in the middle. Yeah, should change that with the re-design. Now I need a metric ton of clear angled windows to replace the blue tinted ones. Excellent - im forwarding to my Swiss friends in USA. Do that. Do That. And thanks for your feedback. Quote
ZueriHB Posted July 9, 2011 Author Posted July 9, 2011 It's still my Re 450 and DPZ train, transferred all modifications to LDD and did some behind the scenes improvements. Here the prototype with the new Niederflur Doppelstockwagen (low-floor doubledecker car) @roamingstudio: tried different ways to space the windows in 1st class more out, but didn't really work out, and looks ugly. If you want to build your own DPZ (w/o NDW), or want to give me suggestions, I attached the lxf-File for your pleasure. CC, some rights reserved. DPZ_gelb.lxf Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 (edited) This CAD picture is simply beautiful! The colors are perfect and so are the general proportions of the train! Edited July 9, 2011 by LEGO Train 12 Volts Quote
ZueriHB Posted July 23, 2011 Author Posted July 23, 2011 (edited) Thanks 12V. I finally tried to do an Re 460, quite a hard front to brick. I hope it's recognizable. (Prototype) But what would a nice engine be, without some rolling stock: EW IV 1st and 2nd Class coaches, one Panorama and one bicycle / baggage wagon. Edited July 23, 2011 by ZueriHB Quote
ZueriHB Posted July 25, 2011 Author Posted July 25, 2011 My first design of the Re 460 was a little short, so, with help by my GF, we redesigned the engine and lengthed it by 4 studs, and here is the (digital) result: Quote

The extension is definitely worth it.... and now looks really good. Glad to see the pentagraphs directly above the bogeys... Who would have thought it is so important Edited July 25, 2011 by roamingstudio Quote
ZueriHB Posted September 26, 2011 Author Posted September 26, 2011 Tried my luck again with LDD. Finally did some IC2000 and for Zürich S-Bahn fans: DTZ (RABe 514) Prototype pictures IC Dosto (doubledecker Intercity train, consist of single coaches and is not a EMU) And here the RABe 514 DTZ, built on the base of Siemens' Desiro trains (think 2010 Passenger Train) IC 2000 in LDD: DTZ in LDD: Quote
ZueriHB Posted January 2, 2014 Author Posted January 2, 2014 Some minor updates, and this pic sums it up: Awaiting some BL orders, and we'll finish this nice RABe 514 ( DTZ ) and those other EW/IV coaches. Also my Re450 ( DPZ ) got extended by 4 studs. Quote
