However lets all rejoy for a fantastic year 2006 !!! So many great sets !!! No wonder I'll be broke in December !!! loool and then boom new 2007 sets !!!! Its a never ending story !!! loool Yoda As a fact of the matter I just about said one year ago, that, should Playmobil ever attempt at ancient Greeks or Romans, I would fall in love with the company all over again (I had loads of Playmo, along my Lego of course, in my childhood)... Damn! Seems both companies are conspiring against my wallet here, so many lines with Lego and now this Playmobil-bliss! Agh! But as an archaeologist in the making I already spotted a big mistake concerning that arena-set: Chariot races where hardly ever held in round arenas but in the specially designed "circi", meaning the race tracks of which the circus maximus was, what a surprise judging by name, was the greatest in ancient Rome. Some minor circi were found near the Tiber (river) south of the "campus martius" (Mars-plain)... Back to Lego here: I am happy to see that there are flat roundshields included at least in the new armoured dragon set of the viking line. I am however very inclined to buy a buttload of the smaller viking-ship to stock up on 'em...even if that means to have also an arseful of mostly unusable brown boatsies floating around...aw. never mind... mutley777 Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 i was looking forward to some better pics of the sailbarge and the star destroyer. maybe some pics of the new minifigs for each set. oh well i'll have to keep waiting i suppose. Quote
Beagle Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 I'm entering this discussion a little late.... but man, those pictures are awesome! Like someone else mentioned, Batman and Exo-force don't do much for me. Spongebob and Technic are just fine. But I have to say, with MUCH surprise, that the sets I'm most excited about (besides Star Wars) are the KK and Avatar sets! Seeing the Avatar ship from that angle, I love the way the hull is kind of sculpted in the back. And the fact that it looks so sinister and industrial with all that grey. And the KK sets..... wow! I have never cared for the previous KK sets, they seemed an insult to classic Castle. But the new armor designs alone are enough to sell me on this batch. Although, ugh, I could live a happy life never seeing another lego catapult. Anyway, overall I have to say this is a REALLY strong year for Lego.... and it is gratifying to see that they appear to be listening to the fans and cutting way back on the juniorization. Quote
