commanderneyo Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 And like Old Ben Kenobi the Emperor's code has been known for a while as well. Hopefully in the next month they will give us codes that we don't already know for other characters. Fingers crossed for Season 3 Ahsoka and an ARC Trooper Quote
Zarkan Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Yeah, they had a demo in a best buys in Washington DC too. I didn't have much time to try it, but I liked what I saw. The graphics (on PS3) are great Heh, while I mostly agree with you, I kind it find of funny that you posted that along with an image that shows Palpatine's hood puncturing his torso. Looks like they still have a few graphical glitches to work out... Quote
Penitent Tangent Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 You can now download the demo from Xbox Live. :) Assume the PS3 version will be available tomorrow. Quote

The Legonater Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 What's this about 'Converting systems'? Do we get to go back and play it like the BF2 Galactic Campaign mode? I've been thinking about this, and it's possible they have more of a SW Empire at War type mode. They ground battles of it are fairly similar to the new massive ground battles they have. Quote
Oky Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Just played through the demo on PS3. It was the same one I played in the store. Pretty good stuff. I like the special Jedi moves and can't wait to see more. The space battle was a bit tedious, mostly due to the fact that the ship flipped around everytime it hit something, and it took a while to exit the ship, locate the switch, and return to the ship. And is it just me or did it get harder to switch between characters? Anyhoo, bring on March! Quote
-JD- Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Hmm. The demo isn't out on my PSN Store yet. Is it because I'm in the UK, or does my PS3 not like me? Quote
Professor Flitwick Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Hmm. The demo isn't out on my PSN Store yet. Is it because I'm in the UK, or does my PS3 not like me? I do believe we'll have to wait till the morning; PSN is updated on Thursdays for us in Europe. Quote
commanderneyo Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 For those of us who still have to wait for the demo here is a full playthrough of Destroy Malevolence. Also I was reading through my Clone Wars magazine who were interviewing one of the Producers of Lego Star Wars 3 (Andrew Bell) and one of the things I remember him saying was in the Hostage Crisis level you are playing as Cad Bane and all his band of Bounty Hunters!! He also said that Cad Bane has rocket boots for the game Quote
The Legonater Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 For those of us who still have to wait for the demo here is a full playthrough of Destroy Malevolence. Nice. I watched about half of it, and this is looking to be an absolutly great game. I love all the details- from how realistic the Melovolance and Venaters looked to the way the light of the trains actually lit up the place. Quote
CF Mitch Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Thanks for posting, commanderneyo I didn't watch it completely (only about 4 minutes, or something), cause I didn't want to be spoiled too much. But it sure looks great. The saber-throw looks good and I'm glad they kept the original SW introsong, and not the CW-version. The figs look great as well. Can't wait for the game to come out Regards, Mitch Quote
-JD- Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 (edited) Apparently the demo is out on EU PSN! (ADHO15 is the bothan spy) Edited February 23, 2011 by Jammiedodger714 Quote
Professor Trelawney Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I hope they have A Tactical Droid In it as a character or shown in the short movie scene's they do between levels, that would be cool to see another Lego variety . Quote
CMP Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 It was a nice demo! It was missing some cinematics for Destroy Malevolence, but it was still good. The scene-switching thing is cool. I'm glad Threepio's unlockig terminal is a memory thing now. Maybe you get to have SOME fun being him. It's harder to be a Jedi now, but that's good. Quote
commanderneyo Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 From this image we can tell that we will play as Ahsoka at some point in Weapons Factory (I'm beggining to think in Weapons Factory you first have to win the massive Ground Battle in it and then once you've done that you play as Ahsoka and Barriss in the Catacombs) It was a nice demo! It was missing some cinematics for Destroy Malevolence, but it was still good. The scene-switching thing is cool. I'm glad Threepio's unlockig terminal is a memory thing now. Its quite funny considering the game should be almost done http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgH5-cfxZeE Quote
ADHO15 Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 I played the Shadow of Malevolence and Destroy Malevolence levels on the demo today and I'm very pleased with it! I can't wait for the full game now! The switching between flying and running and the switch between character groups are very good ideas! Apparently the demo is out on EU PSN! (ADHO15 is the bothan spy) You're welcome. I'm glad Threepio's unlockig terminal is a memory thing now. Maybe you get to have SOME fun being him. Yes, I wasn't expecting that and didn't pay attention the first time. Lucky I'm a good guesser. Quote

Its quite funny considering the game should be almost done http://www.youtube.c...h?v=GgH5-cfxZeE Not surprising- every game has it's glitches. Complete Saga was working with two already made gaems and it still had glitches. As I've said before, I'm really surprised at the amasing lighting and graphics. I've been replaying the old LSW games, and they pale extremly to the design of this one. I hope the rest of the game is like this. Quote
Zarkan Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 You know, I've always loved the Traveler's Tales Lego games, but... man alive, Lego Star Wars III is simply blowing me away. All the new gameplay features look awesome, the vehicle levels seem more fun, and the graphics are simply amazing! Is it sad that I think this game looks a lot prettier than the TV show its based on? GENERAL GRIEVOUS Chapter 1 - Shadow of Malevolence Chapter 2 - Destroy Malevolence Chapter 3 - Grievous's Lair Chapter 4 - R2 Come Home Chapter 5 - Skytop Station This new way is confusing but interesting. And all but one of those is confirmed, so it's fairy likely. Quote
The Legonater Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 I think that's a good assumtion of what the levels are. That 'bad guys' video where Dooku sends everyone off on missions makes more sence now- each grouping must be a different set of levels. It's actually an interesting way of doing it. It kind of remind me of LEGO Batman. Quote
Oky Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Yeah, this game seems to combine things that were good about previous games, such as the memory-locks from HP and the weapon-throw of Batman, and add cool things to it, such as the special moves, epic battles, and scene-swaps. Venaters Really? From this image we can tell that we will play as Ahsoka at some point in Weapons Factory (I'm beggining to think in Weapons Factory you first have to win the massive Ground Battle in it and then once you've done that you play as Ahsoka and Barriss in the Catacombs) I think it will rather be another example of the scene-swap feature where you play as Anakin and Luminara in one scene and with Ahsoka and Barriss in the other since those things happened pretty much simultaneously. In that image you can also see a cable hanging through the top of the Super-Duper Tank. I hope this wont be a regular thing in this game, especially after all these delays. Quote

It won't cause look at this Gameplay vid of Weapons Factory http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y67n8KN4JpI Theres no scene swap though I do think Scene swap would work better for this level Quote
AndyC Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Played Destroying Malevolence on the 360 demo. Disappointed. 1) They've kept the irritating force/magic purple brick thing from Harry Potter. It's jarring because it's not consistent (some things auto-force into places, others don't) and moving an object in 3D space with just a 2D stick really doesn't work. It's especially irritating at the bit where you have to arrange the red/yellow/green blocks to unlock the power up, because unlike HP there isn't even a way to target which item your force powers are focused on. Cue endless 'fun' trying to get the force to effect the brick you actually want to move. Grrrr. 2) They've kept the stupid 4 sequence memory test things. Remembering four things is neither a challenge, nor fun. It's just dumb. A vain attempt to make it look like there is more to the game than there actually is. If you insist on putting a 'puzzle'in place, then actually make it a puzzle, though I'd rather it was dropped altogether. 3) The 'scene-swapping' thing seems unnecessary, a feeling reinforced by the fact it seems to want to tell you when you should swap indicating that the actual amount of choice in the matter is probably rather limited. It might work better in the real game, but I'm not entirely convinced by the demo. 4) At times weird things happen with character control. For example when you fly R2D2 over the pit and stop the train thingy, suddenly your back in control of Anakin again without actively swapping characters, which is confusing. And it's not even consistent, as other similar bits don't suddenly swap characters. Hopefully that won't carry through to the final game. Also swapping control between characters seems less reliable than in the previous games. 5) All the new additions mean that, like HP, the controls in general feel overly-complicated and less fluid. TT could really do with going back to basics and seeing why the original LSW games played so much better. On the upside: 1) At least they haven't tried to carry over Harry Potter's awful spell selection system, I had feared we might be expected to switch force powers with some equally clunky mechanism. Thankfully we have been spared. 2) There are some neat little touches that don't get in the way too much, like the lightsaber cutting through things bits. I have a feeling that, like the HP one, I'll wait till I find this one going cheap somewhere. And keep my fingers crossed for LSW4. Quote

You wanna be R2 again? 5) The only difference is holding down the button for saber throwing in combat, as far as I can tell. The combat controls are all the same, pretty much. Quote
