February 11, 201015 yr Partay! I love that book; I been wanting to make the racing-car 8 cake for a long time. (I can't find a pic of it either. )
February 11, 201015 yr The cake is simply so funny with so many minifigs swimming inside. Now, did you have an easy time cleaning those up after finishing up the cake?
February 11, 201015 yr It's something like this, isn't it? Yeah, but I recall it had an overpass as well. ...and even if I'm wrong I want one with an overpass!!!! (I'll have to make myself one this year to get over that childhood trauma.)
February 11, 201015 yr Now, did you have an easy time cleaning those up after finishing up the cake? I hosed 'em all off and they were fine. Yeah, but I recall it had an overpass as well. ...and even if I'm wrong I want one with an overpass!!!! Yes... I'm having more flashbacks now. I'll have to see if I can track down a copy of that book. It was a source of much childhood awe. The LEGO Ideas Book of Birthday Cakes, indeed.
February 11, 201015 yr I hosed 'em all off and they were fine. Just don't put LEGO in a fish tank. I did that once and I regretted it...
February 11, 201015 yr Happy birthday Svelte! I hope you're having a great day. Also, awesome cake you got there!
February 11, 201015 yr Just don't put LEGO in a fish tank. I did that once and I regretted it... I'll have to try that one time Anyways, nice cake! Jello and Cake sound like a good combination
February 11, 201015 yr Good looking cake, and Happy Birthday Svelte! The poor figs apparently didn't know how to swim very good
February 11, 201015 yr Shmelt's Birthday! I almost missed the party, but I clicked the umbrella cake. It was like taking the red pill... Happy Birthday Svelte! Hope you had a great one. For some reason, I pictured you a lot different than your photo.
February 11, 201015 yr This was a nostalgic flashback to a cake that came from a famous Australian cookbook that a lot of kids of a certain age *ahem* probably were made versions of. Although my version isn't basic sponge and butter icing, but flourless almond and orange cake, and chocolate ganache: Awww well done on your cake Svelte! It is really cool. How did the Almond and Orange taste with the jelly combination? I LOVE that book, my mother still has that original copy. But she glued the Witch and Ghosty pages together in a fit of obsessive 'holiness' one day. I have got the modern version, so I can do them all for Amelie, but it is not nearly as good. I loved those fenced ones, especially the pool. Rally really cool. And those lovely jade green leaf-motif Bordallo Pinheiro serving ware from Portugal..... OMG!!!! So beautiful. My mother has ONE, only ONE of these and I have already asked to have it when she ... ummm eventually.
February 11, 201015 yr And those lovely jade green leaf-motif Bordallo Pinheiro serving ware from Portugal..... OMG!!!! So beautiful. My mother has ONE, only ONE of these and I have already asked to have it when she ... ummm eventually. I know... I'm collecting some a little at a time. There's a shop in the Blue Mountains that has a massive display laid out on one table. There's also a little shop around the corner from me that sells pieces. The little dishes only came in 2 days ago I snapped 'em up! For some reason, I pictured you a lot different than your photo. Lit from above on a pedestal, with a golden wreath shining on my brow? Yes, I get that a lot.
February 11, 201015 yr Looks like I'm late to the party as usual, but I have commitments to keep, so without further ado: Dragonator throws confetti Happy Birthday Svelte! The confetti arrived as promised, if somewhat late. That is a lovely cake, it looks like you had a great time yesterday. Jelly wrestling anyone? No? Come on, it's traditional... I hope you have a great week celebrating birthdays with your family, we can party on here without you for a while if necessary.
