Yes... I'm having more flashbacks now. I'll have to see if I can track down a copy of that book. It was a source of much childhood awe. The LEGO Ideas Book of Birthday Cakes, indeed.

This was a nostalgic flashback to a cake that came from a famous Australian cookbook that a lot of kids of a certain age *ahem* probably were made versions of. Although my version isn't basic sponge and butter icing, but flourless almond and orange cake, and chocolate ganache:

I LOVE that book, my mother still has that original copy. But she glued the Witch and Ghosty pages together in a fit of obsessive 'holiness' one day.

I have got the modern version, so I can do them all for Amelie, but it is not nearly as good. I loved those fenced ones, especially the pool. Rally really cool.

I know... I'm collecting some a little at a time. There's a shop in the Blue Mountains that has a massive display laid out on one table. There's also a little shop around the corner from me that sells pieces. The little dishes only came in 2 days ago I snapped 'em up!
