benny Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 This two buses are made of 7641. The white one is Kowloon Motor Bus. The yellow one is City Bus. In Hong Kong, the city-use buses are mainly double floors . The single floor buses are mainly used in countryside. I changed the mainly door of the bus and add the engine door at the back of the bus. Original outlook of the buses: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Superb/a...b_aa15_275r.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Superb/a...b_1429_r260.jpg Quote
Rick Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Nice design for the doors. And I like the way you've managed to integrate that red stripe on the first bus. Quote
ImLost Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 The buses look great! My favorite is the yellow and blue one... the color scheme is so eye-catching! The decals are integrated well. I do have a question though: how come the front door on the yellow bus is not sticking out as much as the front door on the white bus? I personally prefer that the doors don't stick out but they are nicely designed nevertheless. Good work. Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 AWESOME buses 'Benny' ! Love the real bus doors and the rear engine flap - sweet ! Colours cool too, overall redesign of the 7641 bus is excellent ! I'm a conformist! 'Benny' I'm a conformist! ! Quote
BlueBard Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Really nice! I especially like your door design and opening system Quote
Badsneaker Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Love the doors, way better than the hpuse door used on the LEGO version. Quote
benny Posted February 10, 2010 Author Posted February 10, 2010 Love the doors, way better than the hpuse door used on the LEGO version. Thanks for everyone 's comment! I have the sameidea, the original bus door is so abnormal, sothati improved it. Quote
Ras 74 Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Very well captured in colours and also in design of both buses. Woud like to see some picture/s of how you built the doors, and their opening feature. Quote
PrinceWilliam Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 It looks great, but it would be more appropriated to credit the original designer of this model, HK Andybear. Andybear had built the buses since last year July http://www.minifigs.net/forum/viewthread.p...;extra=page%3D1 Quote
benny Posted February 18, 2010 Author Posted February 18, 2010 It looks great, but it would be more appropriated to credit the original designer of this model, HK Andybear.Andybear had built the buses since last year July http://www.minifigs.net/forum/viewthread.p...;extra=page%3D1 Thanks for your remind!!!! Actually, i knew this complaint when i posted it in the forum at Hong Kong. I laos got a lot of feedback. I also replied my explaination to them for many times. I am boring to explan it again to Hong Kong people in Europe Brick forum or other countries' forum. As many lego fans complete the 7641, they also have the same idea. It is the improvement on the front and back doors on the bus. As the bus size is very limited, other amendment may be limited. When you observe both of them, you can see the difference from two designers. Same: 1) amendment on front and back doors 2) change the driver position to Right hand side (The driver is right hand side in Hong Kong) Difference: 1) The front and back doors are different in structure and size, 2) The bus front, side and cover are different in structure, 3) The Andybear's one is in his own style or western style, my buses are in Hong Kong style. I think i also have the same idea as Mr. Andyear during making this 7641 bus. As we also use 7641 bus as a source and material of the bus, the outlook should be over 70% in same. However, my bus idea is mainly focus on the original Hong Kong bus style include Kowloon Motor Bus and City Bus as following photos http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Superb/a...b_aa15_275r.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Superb/a...b_1429_r260.jpg I think it may be a good time for other lego fans in the World to give comment and compare.
