Daniel Williams Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Hi does anyone here think Avril Lavigne is super cute, way talented and is just so awesome? Well here we can discuss her and her music. She just released a new song called Alice which is wicked cool. Avril Lavigne has sold countless records from her debut Let Go to her latest single Alice. Her albums change and her unique ability to experiment with different styles of music makes her fans love every minute. Whether you love her [which is good] or not [which I can't understand], you will admit she is a force not to be ignored. My favorite quote from her is "Why should I care about what other people think of me? I am who I am, and who I wanna be." I loved Avril for her courage to not conform like others. She is no cookie cutter and she believes in herself. She as well as Michelle Branch, Vanessa Carlton, and Hayley Williams all of whom show that not every pop star is not just a pretty face, but talented as well. So does anyone here love Avril Lavigne? sok117 Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 I don't necessarily Love Avril lavigene, infact I don't fully listen to her music at all really, but for what its worth, she used to be neighbors with my cousin. Quote
Siegfried Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Her albums change and her unique ability to experiment with different styles of music makes her fans love every minute. If you truly believe that then you need to listen to more music. A lot more. Quote

Clone OPatra Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 I think you're a bit too infatuated, Daniel Williams. Your post sounds like something that would appear on Lavigne's own site as promotion, not exactly what a fan would say. I heard a few tracks a long time ago, but I can't say I could differentiate it from a lot of other pop singers. Not that I don't like pop singers, it's certainly good music for certain situations, and I quite like hearing Britney's wrapped-in-cellophane-sounding voice once and a while. I'm kind of surprised Avril Lavigne is even around anymore. I keep up to date on a lot of pop culture, and I haven't heard about her in a long while. Davey, it's in the Culture & Multimedia forum, it doesn't have to do with LEGO. (But actually, I heard Avril Lavigne once looked at a LEGO set and then three weeks later she recorded a song, so… just kidding, of course) Quote
Davey Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 I guess I'm just not sure we need threads for each individual band out there...but that's for the mod's to decide. Quote

Daniel Williams Posted February 11, 2010 Author Posted February 11, 2010 Can I not have an opinion on a singer that has evolved her music? I mean it's not that I started this to start a fight but to see if there's anyone with a common interest in music. So if you want I will listen to my music and not say anything on the matter since no one here is a fan of hers. All that I said was what I felt, and thought. However I should just stop posting in this "culture & multimedia" section. Bye. Quote
Siegfried Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Can I not have an opinion on a singer that has evolved her music? Sure you can. I was just saying that it's hardly unique to have varied styles. Personally I think Nobuo Uematsu has an incredibly varied style, but I wouldn't go and say he's the only one that does. That was my point. But I wasn't trying to cause offence and if I have I apologise... and I think she's OK. Quote
Daniel Williams Posted February 11, 2010 Author Posted February 11, 2010 It's OK, maybe I should have said "ability to..." instead of unique implying a few have it, but I guess I should tone down the band threads. Quote
WhiteFang Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 For myself, I listen to music of different artists and genre, and back in my younger days, I do enjoy her songs very much, right up to her 3rd released album. As of recently, I don't see much of her activities, except seeing her being part of the Canon Spokesperson that was featured in a recent advertisement. On another note, no one is trying to attack, but maybe it's the way you have presented earlier in the first post which might caused misunderstanding due to your choice of words. If you want to have a discussion about her, do it in a mature manner. Thanks. Quote
Bobskink Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 If you truly believe that then you need to listen to more music. A lot more. haha, funny remark. However, Avril Lavigne is very commercial and cleary popmusic for the girls. And when you get older you really start hating that kind of music more and more. Still, somehow it's the only music like that that doesn't bother me. Quote
Big Cam Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 If you truly believe that then you need to listen to more music. A lot more. I do like some of Avril's music but she is hardly the most unique singer out there, as stated befoe she's been very commercialized. Still good, just not 100% herself. Quote
simonjedi Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 I like a few Avril songs ("keep holding on" "I'm with you" and "My happy ending") but i don't like her enough to buy any of her CDs/see her in concert. HOWEVER "Girlfriend" is a terrible terrible song and should be purged from everything ever. Quote
