waltzking Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 (edited) I just finished creating and uploading a Lego stop motion video to YouTube and wanted to share it with other AFOLs. It is my first attempt at a short Lego Video and adding sound effects and voices. The theses used range a from castle to pirate and western, but I thought I'd post here as the Pirate scene is one of the best parts. To view the video you can go to: http://www.youtube.com/iheartAPMEX#p/u/1/uneS8D4cm9k If you find it entertaining please rate the video. I want to get a lot of votes and higher ratings if possible as it is entered in a video contest. The contest host will base part of the placement it gets on views and ratings. If I can average a 4 out of 5 the video should do pretty well. If you enjoy the video please let me know. Has anyone else done stop motion pirate scenes? Thanks and enjoy! Captain Zuloo Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Nice animation, the voicing was also brilliant! I see why you posted in the Pirates forum as that Pirates scene is indeed very cool, but as it is more than just Pirates, I'll move it to the Brick Flicks forum. Thanks for sharing! P.S. I also embedded the video into your post. For future reference, you can do that by using the following code: Where uneS8D4cm9k is the "v" value in your video URL, in this case Quote

As you can tell I'm new here. I'm glad you enjoyed it and would love to make a good 10 minute or so Pirate video soon! Jonathan Quote
sok117 Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 The animation was superb, but that voice sealed the deal, did you voice it yourself? Quote
rriggs Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 The animation is very smooth and the sound is great. You could do with securing your camera a bit better as it's a bit shaky at times but otherwise I really like it. Cheers Rog Quote
Rufus Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 I laughed for ages when Pirate Captain cut through the rail with his sword. Nice work! Not sure where it's going with the APMEX stuff though. Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Not sure where it's going with the APMEX stuff though. It's an APMAX contest. Quote
waltzking Posted February 14, 2010 Author Posted February 14, 2010 The animation was superb, but that voice sealed the deal, did you voice it yourself? Hi, Yes, I did voice it myself. I actually had a little help on the Pirate Captain voice and the "For Robin Hood" cry from the foresters, but otherwise I did the voicing. It's amazingly hard to make so many different voices that are distinct to each character. Jonathan The animation is very smooth and the sound is great. I used my Kodak Z740, but do not have a good securing setup to keep it (or the model) in place. Any suggestions? I used to use the Lego Studios camera which can be attached to the model to keep the angel true, but the quality is so poor I had to try something else. I laughed for ages when Pirate Captain cut through the rail with his sword. Nice work! Not sure where it's going with the APMEX stuff though. The APMEX stuff is the "lingo" to keep the entry true to the contest host. Takes a little from the actual "Lego Video" aspect, but otherwise the entry wouldn't have a chance. The good part is I can still use the footage in a real video should I so choose. Thant to all who have posted for their comments and suggestions. I'm glad you have been enjoying the video. Grimmy Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 This was very good. I read your first thread before it was moved. I was suprised to read you say that it was your first Lego Brickfilm? You did the camera angles movement good. That's usually a little more advance stopmotion stuff. The voices were great. Left you a comment and rated. TheFutureLooksGrimm is me. I used to invest in gold myself. I recently sold my silver and gold bullion rounds in December when they were at a high because I had a feeling after Christmas they would go down and I am saving up to buy a motorcycle. I used to buy Northwest Territorial rounds. Quote
