Brick Miner Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 i expect WW to get expensive in Europe. It seems the popularity of the theme is on the rise and it's likely that new US WW fans will try and get the european sets, now that the US versions are pretty hard to find for a reasonable price.you've noticed this too ??? if you look at BL, even the WW sets offered from NA sellers are European versions (aka... with shooting cannons). some even note it in their descriptions now (a few of them even changed there description after i posed the question a while ago.)and even here, on EB, there seem to be quite a bit of WW interest, from new(er) members... unexpected, but nice *pirate* ------------------------------------------------ BTW, 80 dollars for an 8891 instruction booklet... that is the craziest one yet gylman !!! - BrickMiner

HP on the other hand is less valuable than garbage it seems. The market gets flooded with HP sets and nobody seems to want them. Maybe it's because of the price. the were fairly expensive to begin with, so even half that price is still a lot for a normal second hand set, especially if you realise that HP sets are not what the average collector wants, or probably, he already has those sets MISB. Maybe we'll see a rise after the next film but i doubt it. 81 dollars for an instruction book... that's either a typo or from a very ignorant or rich customer...
gylman Posted May 15, 2007 Author Posted May 15, 2007 I too have noticed that WW is selling very well for MISB, or even sets with boxes. It's just supply and demand I guess. It didn't go on for very long from what I can tell, although there were a couple of re-releases of the big sets (Rapid River Village and Legoredo), and nothing like it has been released since. This is why I have always thought that an Adventurers "old west" theme would be good. They can recycle much of the special parts etc from the WW era so there is not much extra cost to starting up a new theme. Plus, there is a demand for Old West stuff. Potter is reselling like crap probably because 75% of it was crap - all those large tower pieces, freakish animal pieces, reddish brown (instead of real brown), bley etc. It was more like a Belville set than like system Lego, but without the interesting pieces that Belville sets often have. Potter sets were not even good for parts mostly. Diagon Alley, though, is in VERY high demand, usually going for 3x retail for MISB, which is quite impressive for a set from only 3-4 years ago. I guess people want all those bits.
snefroe Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 a lot with Lego space on ebay...hm... 2600 euro... waaaaay too high... .... still.... sooooooooo very tempting....
gylman Posted May 15, 2007 Author Posted May 15, 2007 They look to be in great condition, but the sellers say are "complete", which implies that they are not MISB. No way they are worth even half of that if they are not MISB.

No way they are worth even half of that if they are not MISB. he also says "second hand", but that doesn't say much in this case... i think he's better off splitting this offer. He could easily get a great price for all of them, but asking 2600 from a serious collector without this potential customer having had the opportunity to look at these sets in detail, is kinda naieve...
SupaaSayajin Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 yeah he shouldnt be too lazy and make a single auction for each set!
Jipay Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 I do hope prices wil lower soon for every theme. Like they did for pirates and space, once every AFOL geek had his collection full and don't even know what to do with their sets anymore, they'll stop buying. Some will eventually even ressell the sets they're not using. We just have to be patient. As for WW and adventurer, that is a real concern, especially since they're not themes likely to be re released by TLC.

gylman Posted May 19, 2007 Author Posted May 19, 2007 As for WW and adventurer, that is a real concern, especially since they're not themes likely to be re released by TLC. EXCUSE ME? Adventurers not coming back? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Seriously, I think they will come back. It woudl not even surprise me if they Egypt series would be re-released. More likely though, they will come back with a new story. And I stick with my predict that it will an Old West theme. A Greece or Rome them with the Adventurers woudl also be possible. BUT THEY ARE DEFINITELY COMING BACK ONE WAY OR ANOTHER!

The Shredder Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 http://cgi.ebay.com/Lego-6339-Shuttle-Laun...1QQcmdZViewItem Pretty good deal I think. The shipping price seems reasonable and the fact that some pieces aren't there is sorta acceptable because I like the black coloured tools anyways
