His charges seem to depend on where he is shipping.

Within US it's 11$

Canada 23$

On the high side, but not crazy crazy. I've seen much worse. Depends on how they are packed. US Postal rates too a big jump for packages a month ago.

BAsically, I see that he doesn't really want to ship outside the US. Truth is, I don't blame him. I am in Canada. When I have sold sets, I usually charged "at cost" for shipping in North America, but outside I charge more than cost. The main reason is that I don't like selling outside the North America region because I am worried my stuff will get lost, or damaged more likely, and then I get the blame. Buyers always ask for uninsured stuff to save money, and if something goes wrong, all of a suddent it's my problem.

Still, I feel guilty charging more than cost, and so the last few times I only sold within North America.

As a buyer, I have NO trouble at all buying from Europe and Asia. I buy LOTS of Lego from HK, some from Singapore, from Korea, and Japan. They have some of the best Lego gear, which I collect. Right now I am working with a Japanese Lego fan to buy stuff on Yahoo Japan, which has a lot of nice Lego things I can't get on eBay.

As a buyer, I can live with it if something is lost in the mail. I try to use only honest experienced sellers (lots of feedback, 99% or higher feedback), I don't spend crazy amounts of money, and after that if it is lost, I don't blame them. No stress.

But as a seller, I have no control over what kind of buyer I am getting, so I am much more nervous about things. It's one of the reasons I don't sell much - too stressful!

Normally it could fetch 500$ or more, but the seller looks quite dubious: no PayPal and not the best feedback. Normally I woudl be interested, but not with those kinds of issues. Money order is a red flag for fraud.

looks very strange. unopenned??? ok..... well... very strange seller, see what other items he sold.

Yeah, it's a bit "fishy". A bunch of 20 dollar fishing gear auctions, and then a Lego set out of nowhere which is likely to fetch hundreds of dollars, no PayPal, last few auctions bad feedback.

Something for our Classic trains fans, a sealed copy of set 7730 Freighttrain. With 46 minutes to go and the price already being at 481 euros I wonder what it's going to cost the future owner... 8-

The 6075 is probably overpriced, but the 6085 I actually thought would have gotten more money .

6073 MISB I have not seen in 2 years or more, and it is very hard to find with box. Probably the price is right for this medium sized set (from a collector's point of view). There are two available on Bricklink, at 300 which is incomplete with box in excellent condition, and $500 for one in perfect condition.

So, really not unreasonable prices for the 6085 and 6073.

Anybody else see a bunch of auctions by a seller in Taiwan offering literally hundreds of Stormtroopers, Clone Troopers, and Snowtroopers in groups of 10-50?

When I first saw them, I was naturally suspicous as collections are rarely that large, and I've never heard of a collector in Asia with those kinds of numbers. All his feedback were from single figures, but he claimed to have recently purchased a large collection.

Now I've noticed all his auctions have been pulled. I hope no one got burned on these.

I think I know what you are talking about. but are you sure this seller is from "TAIWAN"? I thought he is from somewhere else.

Anyway, i bidded on 6 of his items, but did not pay for like 3 weeks. I didn't pay because I was quite suspicious, he was selling like 20 auctions a day however after 2 weeks he has only a small number of feedbacks (plus none of those feedbacks are auctions of 10-20 figures, only feedback of single figure auctions).

anyway I didn't pay and then 3 weeks later all his listings got pulled out and ebay sent me a letter saying beware of this seller and do not conduct business with him outside ebay.

It's not lego but I saw a transformers collection for $50,000USD!! That's nuts!

I can not just pretend I did not read this post. I am sorry, but, I do not believe a word you are saying.

unless you can provide some kind of link i do not think anyone here is able to accept this tale of a man buying a transformers collection for $50,000USD (25,000GBP).

He didn't say it sold, he said it was on eBay. People can list things at any price they wish. Many of them fail to realise the expense involved when that $50k item doesn't sell.

Indeed. That seems nuts.

However, in defense of the lunatic who paid that money, this is considered perhaps the best classic Lego house ever made, and for a serious colletor, to have one of these MISB in a good condition box might be worth the money.

Another thing that surprises me though, is that the seller lists all his personal information, including bank account info, in the auction. Is that wise??

I saw that too. Admittedly a nice classic town set and hard to find MISB. I was preparing to bid on that but decided to withdraw my bid as I found out it was no use trying to outbid some people who wanted it more than I did.

Watch out for those Italians (besides this high bidder there are a few more of them out there). If they want something badly, you do not stand a chance bidding against them. :-(
