Makes sense - good idea. I can't quite figure out how the poles though relate to the topic though or maybe it's just me!!

By poles, I assume you mean North and South. With that, no, I can't see how they relate to the topic either  (Honestly, I don't know any other poles)

I am a 100% city person now... it is easy with city/town to make scale and at the same time it is just as hard some times...

I was a space theme person in my glory days, but space sets have kinda turned and merged into other sets that would be to imaginary to me.. I am a adult so I like to keep my building to real life... later on in the second quarter of 2011 when the NASA sets come out I will buy a couple for my city... but I dont plan on having two layouts so that is that.

I began my collecting with Star Wars when I wandered into a toy store and noticed the Sail Barge and fell instantly in love with it. I had no idea SW sets were even being made and had to have it. I then discovered the entire line and focused solely on them. It doesn't take long in the Lego world though to be enticed by other themes.

Star Wars is still my number one theme but I don't see any reason to limit myself to it. Unless you have only enough money for them and must have every set, buy whatever you desire! It definitely was cheaper when I had only one theme to concentrate on but I adore a lot of sets from different themes that I now have. My wallet is crying but my delight is greater.

My advice is buy whatever makes you happy. Being a collector can be a good thing but it can also become a harsh master. Don't let it stop you from buying other things if you truely want them. You may regret that later looking back on your collection. You might have every single thing from one theme although a number of those sets you don't like. Or, you could look upon your collection and smile at every single thing there.

If you are really into Lego Star Wars, then for god's sake don't quit the theme! At least that's what I would do. Plus, about no Star Wars set ever decreases in value, even if it's used. You honestly can't say that about many themes.

You need not focus on one theme alone! You just have to set your priorities. It's about what sets you "have" to buy (to feed your addiction! ), what sets would be "quite nice to own" and to avoid buying something you'll later regret. Even if I'm just stating the obvious right there! :sweet:

Don't restrict yourself, but also don't make yourself buy CENSORED useless stuff you actually don't need. This is all I can say abo... wait! one more thing: do not buy Toy Story Lego!

Well, I mostly buy and collect Star Wars. It's also the theme I built most of my MOCs of.

I used to be into castle/medieval and RR a few years ago, but my interest in those two has already faded, a short time after I got into them.

Ever since I got into Star Wars, I haven't stopped buying LSW sets, and building MOCs based on Star Wars. It has been my favorite theme from then on.

So, you could say I'm mostly settled into Star Wars, yes. Every now and then, I gain interest into another theme aswell (but still going for Star Wars, mostly), but that quickly fades sooner or later. Except for Star Wars..

I'm just a huge Star Wars fan, and I prefer it over any other theme. :vader:

Castle! Exclusively. I love that theme, and I'm also on a very tight budget, so it makes sense to not dabble into anything else. Apart from buying sets, I also order figs from BL to build armies (10-30 figs/faction). It works for me.

I go through phases, usually focusing a 1 to 3 themes, with a few random small sets thrown in if it catches my fancy. My phases have roughly been:

late 80's/early 90's: Castle, Pirates

mid 90's: Space, Western, Aquanauts/sharks

late 90's to mid 00's: Star Wars

late 00's to current: Star Wars, Castle, SP3

I buy whatever I like.

If a SW sets looks nice, very nice, I buy it.

The destroyer was my very first serious buy into the Lego world.

I don't stick to a theme, I'd like to, and it would be cheaper and easier.

Instead I keep wandering in shops, looking at boxes and figuring how it would be in real life.

I like the Creator houses the most, then those old orient sets, the ninja ones...

Lately I got the tower of the Kingdom's castle. First of this theme.

I won't buy a HP set, that's for sure.

Don't get me wrong: i hate spending money. I'm a pennypincher and every set I buy, I really think and think and think about the bought.

It's like buying a pair of shoes: I got to fall in love with the set, Oh Attic Shape!, and just , hoping that once home it will not hurt my feet and look worse than I thought.

My 3 main themes are Star Wars , most liscenced, and city. Oh, and the occasional creator set (housesdefault_laugh_new.gif ) is always good too.

Yes, I've settled for collecting Star Wars primarily. Although I do keep an eye out for any Bionicle that might show up in second hand stores (and you'd be surprised how often they do). I'd love to collect Pirates, the Space theme du jour, City and Creator, but budget restraints keep me to two themes.

I find that primarily I buy the Modular Buildings series. These brought me out of my dark ages, and I haven't missed one yet. I also buy the ocassional City vehicle to go with the buildings.

I also have a large collection of Mini Turbos, but far from a complete collection. I also have complete sets of Minifigures series 1 and 2, and will do the same with series 3.

I do buy other random sets however, but I don't collect whole themes. For example I bought two of the midi scale Star Destroyer and a couple of Atlantis sets to go with a couple of promos I got. That's about it though.
