Millacol88 Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Well, in any case, hats off to Team USA for the wonderfully played game. Canada were totally clueless tonight, and a major reason for that was the tactically sound play of the American team. That along with Brodeur's constant screwups. I thought Crosby played very well this game, much better than he has at all in Canada's first two games. He drove to the net a lot and made some nice plays. It really is a disappointment that Canada lost, though. It seemed they dominated in several aspects of the game but were lacking in others (mainly scoring). Quote
prateek Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Good game, but Marty Brodeur was just garbage, and Ryan Miller was too good. If Luongo played instead of Brodeur, Canada might've won. Quote

I have a renewed faith in Team USA now. I'm still sticking with my prediction of Canada and Russia in the Gold/Silver game though, and I'm looking forward to watching Canada's next game. Especially if they wind up in a rematch with the Swiss somehow. Quote

Maybe not. The rest of the Canadian team didn't look that good either. It didn't seem like they were passing the puck all the well tonight. Taking not so smart penalties didn't help them either. The US looked much stronger and more organized as a team. Quote

Especially if they wind up in a rematch with the Swiss somehow. Canada vs. Russia in the Gold medal game is now impossible, because on Tuesday, they will play Germany, and if they beat Germany, they will face Russia in the Quarter-Finals. It'll still be a great game, but not as exciting. Quote
RXBandit Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 what an incredible game that was. i spend a lot of time in Saskatchewan and i wish i was there right now cause i would be bustin balls left and right. fantastic win, i'm quite proud of America (which is rare for me). Quote
The Legonater Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 We played absolutly lousy in that game... If we stopped getting penaltys, we'd have a chance, but... nope. I loved the announcer's comment: "It looks like the only thing Canada can get in the goal in Crosby." Quote

I loved the announcer's comment: "It looks like the only thing Canada can get in the goal in Crosby." I think the reason he was able to find the back of the net was because he flinged himself above Miller. If he dived down low, Miller would've stopped Crosby Quote
Ratshot Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Good game, but Marty Brodeur was just garbage, and Ryan Miller was too good. If Luongo played instead of Brodeur, Canada might've won. That's exactly how I feel, well said Marty was poopswag. Quote
Alex the Great Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Brodeur was bad, the defence played terrible. Some of the offense did good other than the fact they weren't SCORING! I mean they had so many more shots than the US, though I found Crosby and Nash played well. Good job team USA, though I hope Canada can beat Russia and make it to the finals. Quote
Deinonychus Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Wow, you guys are dumping on Brodeur so bad that you sound like New Jersey Devils fans And no disrespect to you Germans out there, but I'm hoping Canada glides past Germany later today, setting up the Canada/Russia match-up I've been wanting to see so badly. However, I'm not looking forward to what would be a midnight start-time for me. But, 3 hours of sleep with work the next day is a small price to pay to watch that game Quote
Ratshot Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Wow, you guys are dumping on Brodeur so bad that you sound like New Jersey Devils fans No, I'm an Ottawa fan. I do like Brodeur though, he just had a bad game. Quote
prateek Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Yesterday in class, we were talking about the game and we drew the comparison of the Canada vs. USA game to a Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Buffalo Sabres game. Toronto always has at least 40 shots, yet they can't get poopswag past Miller, just like Canada. Anyways, Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir won Ice Dance gold yesterday Quote
Natman8000 Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I thought canada played fine. They are a really good team and will ofr sure rub off Germany, but MIller and the rest of USA were amazing. Quote

Anyways, My sister has been watching reruns of Star Trek NG, and when we got back, we found out that Canadfa got a sixth gold. What was that in? Quote

Deinonychus Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Alright! Now that Canada has dispatched Germany, it's the big one...Canada / Russia. And they moved the start time to 7PM EST, so I get a good night's sleep tomorrow Although, a small part of me wanted Canada to loose so that Marleau, Thorton, Boyle, and Heatley could get some more rest before the Sharks start playing again. Etzel Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I'm so happy! Sweden has won the most important event of the Winter Olympics and in such a great way! I'm of course talking about the cross-country skiing relay that we won before Norway and Czech rep. I know the hockey might be more important to many (esp. Canadians and Americans) but here in the Nordic countries this is the race to win. We finally beat the Norwegians who have dominated the relays the last 20 years! That's four gold medals for Sweden now Quote

Alex the Great Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 (edited) Clara Hughes just won a bronze in 5000m speed skating. She has 2 Summer medals and 4 Winter medals She is the only Olympian to have multiple medals in both games, and she's Canadian! EDIT: It's now 3-0 for Canada against Russia! Alex the Great Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Canada just got 1st and 2nd in Women's double person bobsled. Quote
prateek Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 w00t! 15 medals for Canada now! Canada will now face either Slovakia or Sweden in Men's hockey semis. I hope USA loses against Finland/Czech so we can win an easy gold. Quote
Icesaber Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Ouch...it really sucks for Sven Kramer. So close to a medal, and an Olympic Record too, only to be DQed by a minor mistake (ordered by his coach of all people). The ski cross was entertaining and is now my favorite Winter Olympic sport.
