Deinonychus Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 My congratulations to Canadians! ) Well done, guys! ) What a pathetic excuse for a team we've shown this time. Nothing like in former Soviet times! ) Good day, ladies and gentlemen! ) Yeah, that game wasn't what I was hoping for. It finally started getting interesting in the end when the Russians were getting chippy and throwing around a lot of cheap shots, which made me sad that there's no fighting in international hockey, because it would have saved what was a boring blowout. And Nabokov was just getting lit the hell up. He should have never been put back in at the beginning of the second. I'd almost say it was a typical San Jose "playoff choke" but considering the line-up of Canada, I can't. I'm also surprised that the Czechs are out of it now as well. The next four games should be really interesting. Quote
Icesaber Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Argh...can't say I agree with the ref's decision to DQ Korea from the short track women's relay. Quote
prateek Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Argh...can't say I agree with the ref's decision to DQ Korea from the short track women's relay. I do. It got Canada a silver instead of bronze. I'm surprised Slovakia beat Sweden! We better watch out. Tonight is Womens Hockey Final Canada vs. USA. Quote
The Legonater Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 I do. It got Canada a silver instead of bronze. Personally, I'd rather have a Bronze than a USA anyday. But the Korean coach looked real angry... That was a great game for us last night. I can't wait for the next couple games. But we did good generally last night, four medals in one day. Our record. I'm hoping for Gold in Women's curling, we're doing real good. I'm so sure about Men's curling, I don't get it where I live. I'm also hoping for Gold in both Hockey games (Although that's ambitious), and in women's figure skating. We should get multiple gold counts in multiple gold sports, like Hockey and two man bobsled. Quote
PattieCake Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Ouch...it really sucks for Sven Kramer. So close to a medal, and an Olympic Record too, only to be DQed by a minor mistake (ordered by his coach of all people). This might not surprise you, but everyone and their little annoying cousin are making jokes about this. Too bad they're not funny or clever at all... Quote
Quarryman Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 I'm so happy! Sweden has won the most important event of the Winter Olympics and in such a great way! I'm of course talking about the cross-country skiing relay that we won before Norway and Czech rep. I know the hockey might be more important to many (esp. Canadians and Americans) but here in the Nordic countries this is the race to win. We finally beat the Norwegians who have dominated the relays the last 20 years! That's four gold medals for Sweden now At least we took home the gold in the women's relay, which is some comfort. And we're in the final in the only sport that really matters (to me anyway ) Go Pants! Quote
Alex the Great Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 The Canadian Women's hockey team just won gold! And we're in the final in the only sport that really matters (to me anyway ) Go Pants! Bring it on Norway! Quote
prateek Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 The Canadian Women's hockey team just won gold! Bring it on Norway! Brap brap. Anywhosit, I predict the Curling game to be Canada 9-3 Norway (Sorry Mr. Brain-In-A-Jar ) Quote
blueandwhite Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 w00t! 15 medals for Canada now! Canada will now face either Slovakia or Sweden in Men's hockey semis. I hope USA loses against Finland/Czech so we can win an easy gold. I disagree. In any sport I want to see the best compete with the best. First; I think you're underrating the Finns who were actually ranked ahead of the US going into the Olympics and second; I have no problem witht he US meeting with Canada or even taking the gold if Miller stands on his head again. I think it's a shame when politics is more important than sport. The fact that the IOC is again talking about eliminating Women's hockey from the Olympics simply because the development of the game in Europe is taking a bit longer than expected is extremely disappointing. The IOC is again going on about how Canada and the US completely dominate the event, but would you really want to see a final where the most talented atheletes didn't make the final? As for Sven Kramer; I don't think there's a person out there who doesn't feel terrible for him. To lose due to a coaching error after such an incredible performance is absolutely heartbreaking. Every Olympics has that one 'feel-bad' story, and this one definitely a biggie. Quote
Icesaber Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Excited for the short track events tonight. I predict Ohno takes the 500m gold. Lindsey Vonn hasn't had a very good Olympics, has she? Quote

Erdbeereis Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Dutch long track speed skater. Looks like the US is dominating the men's hockey semifinal. 4-0 already. Quote
Etzel Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Excited for the short track events tonight. I predict Ohno takes the 500m gold.Lindsey Vonn hasn't had a very good Olympics, has she? Hasn't she? 2 medals, one of the gold sound very good to me. Especially if you consider that she had that shin injure before the games. Quote
Quarryman Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Brap brap. Anywhosit, I predict the Curling game to be Canada 9-3 Norway (Sorry Mr. Brain-In-A-Jar ) 9-3? That sounds a wee bit optimistic I think, remember that Canada only won the round robing game against Norway 7-6 and that after an extra end. Though Canada are the favourites, by all means, but I think it will be an exciting game Quote
dr_spock Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Dutch long track speed skater. Looks like the US is dominating the men's hockey semifinal. 4-0 already. More like 6-1. Woah, what happened with the Finland's men hockey team? Quote
Matija Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Guys, I think I know what the Scandinavian plan is. So, Swedish girls play against the Canadian ones at the same time as the Norwegian boys against Canadian ones, right? That way, the Canadian girls will be distracted by the Norwegian boys and Canadian boys by the Swedish girls. It's a very subtle, yet brilliant plan, which can't fail! Quote

posades Posted February 26, 2010 Author Posted February 26, 2010 I'm pretty sure anyone would be distracted by Swedish girls. And speaking of girls, stay classy Canada: I kid, I kid. GO Ohno tonight, though I have a feeling the Koreans are gonna pull through again. Quote

Wouldn't you party your @$$ off when you just win something major? Quote

I meant she hasn't had the greatest luck. She was hit by a shin injury right before the games and then crashed twice. But yeah, she does have that gold and bronze(?). Quote
prateek Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 (edited) My dad'd mad that Cheryl Bernard is not a clutch performer. At least Canada got a silver. I bet Etzel is the world's happiest man right now. Edited February 27, 2010 by prateek Quote
Ricecracker Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 I was pretty annoyed with Canada's performance in curling, but, oh well. Quote

Honestly, I don't care that much about curling But it was great that we won! I watched the game until the 9th round but then I thought we would loose and I went to sleep (it was getting pretty late here). But I watched the replay today, Canada had a great opportunity to win both in the 10th and 11th round but missed it. Great for us! More cross-country skiing tonight and tomorrow, that's some real competition. Quote
Ratshot Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 (edited) I've got a feeling that Canada is going to get destroyed by the states in the big hockey game on Sunday Edited February 27, 2010 by Ratshot Quote
