posades Posted February 27, 2010 Author Posted February 27, 2010 I've got a feeling that Canada is going to get destroyed by the states in the big hockey game on Sunday You know, I've got the exact opposite feeling. Sure we beat them once, but very rarely does that happen twice. Plus they'll be after revenge, so I'm thinking it will be Canada over the US (not a blowout though, maybe around the same score just reversed). Quote

What would be the chances of exactly the sdame thing happening but reverse. Just imagine: Miller decides to play baseball and lets in a goal, and Cory Perry slides to score an empty-netter. Quote
Quarryman Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 And it's over, congratulations to all canadians, a well deserved gold medal in curling. Quote
prateek Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Now Canada's guaranteed at least 26 medals We have the most golds! I guess Canada kinda does own the podium. Quote
Quarryman Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Now Canada's guaranteed at least 26 medals We have the most golds! I guess Canada kinda does own the podium. Well, once you reach a three-digit number of gold medals collected in the Winter Olympics, let us know (Norway has a total of 106 gold, 106 silver and 90 bronze after the 2010 games, assuming we don't take home anything on the 50km cross-country skiing today) But congratulations, you've done well in these games Quote

I had a horrid dream of the hockey game last night... Quote
Etzel Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Canada sure has made a great Olympic game, irrespective of how the hockey game goes. Sweden has just finished their Olympics with a bronze by Johan Olsson in the 50 km cross-country skiing. That makes 11 medals (5 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze), the second best game ever for us Soon time for the match everyone is talking about, I think I will really enjoy watching it. It's sometimes easier to enjoy a good match when you're not totally biased to one team, the nervousness isn't taking away your attention May the best team win! Quote
Ricecracker Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 May the best team win! Why, thank you! Quote

I had a horrid dream of the hockey game last night... And that you did. Congratulations, Canada has really done it in these games, 14 golds, crazy. Quote
Alex the Great Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 We have never won a gold before at our own games, and now we have the most golds at these ones. I was getting really nervous with the hockey team. Quote
prateek Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Let's go 3-2 Canada wins in overtime!!!!!!111 Good game, but I think Zach Parise was being too much of a baby after the game. Now Canada has most golds by a host country ever Quote
Erdbeereis Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Wow, what a great game! I was pulling for the Canadiens to get it done for their host country. That was really thrilling. A nice silver for Germany in the cross country race, 30 medals total and 2nd place overall. Not too shabby! Quote
Destroydacre Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 The USA-Canada game was one of the most Amazing hockey games I've ever seen. Congrats to Canada for the gold, and I am extremely proud of how well the American team played in this tournament! Quote
blueandwhite Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 What an unbelievable game. You've got to hand it to Ryan Miller; he really did everything possible to keep team USA in the hunt. That game had everything you would expect from a gold medal hockey game! Kudos to the Americans for keeping it exciting and playing some of the best hockey of the tournament and horray for team Canada getting it done to give us our 14th gold medal. The Summer Olympics may be bigger, but the Winter Olympics are just good fun. Quote
posades Posted March 1, 2010 Author Posted March 1, 2010 Too bad you guys didn't reach your goal of owning the podium...we did! (and owning the top step does not count ) All joking aside, it was a great game and I was glad to see such a dramatic ending to what started out as a shaky Olympics. I would tell everyone to look forward to the World Cup next, but some teams failed to qualify. *coughCanada&Swedencough* Quote
prateek Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 *coughCanada&Swedencough* Oh pish posh. Canada never makes it to the World Cup, but I'm a bit surprised that Sweden didn't although they do have some really tough opponents in UEFA. Quote

It's Canadian property. :) Quote
MetroiD Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Please excuse me, but I just have to say this.... [outburst] CROSBYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!! [/outburst] That about sums it up. But really - hats off to Team USA who did put up a fight and played a great game of hockey. These young boys definitely have huge potential - I was suprised by Parise's stamina and eye for the game... he'll definitely go on to become a great LW! And Ryan Miller has come out a clear winner after the big fight between him and Luongo. Lu is not a bad goalie, but I have the feeling he will be overrated after this tournament - and at the end of the day, he's still miles behind Brodeur. Most of all though, I'm really happy for the likes of Niedermayer and Pronger... I know the latter may have not had the best publicity in recent years, but he's still one of the best defenders I've ever seen, so it's good to see both him and Scott win the Olympics before they go. A nice silver for Germany in the cross country race, 30 medals total and 2nd place overall. Not too shabby! Germany did better than what I though they would do. Quote
tedbeard Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 A nice silver for Germany in the cross country race... That was a crazy race. As the top finishing Canadian noted it was 50 km, 2+ hours and he finished in fifth place as he crossed the line 1.5 SECONDS after the gold medalist. Now that is one tough race. Quote

As the top finishing Canadian noted it was 50 km, 2+ hours and he finished in fifth place as he crossed the line 1.5 SECONDS after the gold medalist. Now that is one tough race. It's just because of the mass start, it really favours the racers that are good at spurting (like Petter Northug). Many times the race just becomes a long slow trip to the last kilometre when they start skiing for real I wish they would go back to use individual start for the longest distance races. Quote
The Legonater Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Phew! I got scared during that game... In my dream the night before, The game wernt into overtime and USA scored... I'm so glad we won. Quote
MetroiD Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Iginla made all the difference... Not just on the occasion, but throughout the tournament. Definitely my favourite current hockey player, now that Joe Sakic has hung up his skates. I would have loved to see him win one more gold medal though Quote

Canada is too good for him now. He got replaced by Neidermayer. Quote
