I voted for TRUCKS - well I always have liked trucks - my old man was a truckie !

My second pick would be TRAINS - dam wasn't allowed a second place getter !

Thanks for the poll 'The Brickster' - I'm a conformist! !

I voted for Automobile, since that's the most popular in real life. I don't like it when people's Lego Towns have too many trucks and/or not enough cars.

Cool Topic B, :classic:

My first inclination was to go with Helicopter due to the Hawaii reference

But then carefully over viewed it and selected Trains, simply because Trains are awesome.

Buses are good too, but we have only seen 1, so I would like to see more expanding on it.

It has to be Automobiles.

Spent many hours as a kid building 4 stud wide cars and have many good memories of building them and then driving them down the stairs  , and something I think TLG overlook, we need more cars.

It's got to be trucks for me.

In fact, that's one of the things that rekindle my interest in lego town/city, when the trucks went from 4 studs to 6 studs wide.

Most memorable would be the surveillance squad, 6348., since that's my 1st 6 stud truck.

A brief look at my sig should tell you all about my personal preferences when it comes to city transportation  Two wheels for the win!

You know, I was thinking of adding Motorcycle to the list right after finalizing the poll, but didn't. I've added and adjusted the poll accordingly.

Trains for me, but that may have been obvious from my posting habits. The results seem to conflict with my LUGs theory that every town set must include an alternate build of a helicopter though :-)

Ever since I 'accepted' 6-wide (took me some time  ), I really like the detail that can be put into 6-wide trucks. But cars are a close second.

Hmmm..tough one...

I love all the means of transportation mentioned in the poll but after a lot of thinking I think I'll have to go with boats and ships. Since I live in a country that has a tradition in maritime I think I'm influenced by that and I was always starting the creation of a city layout for the harbour area--something that is tightly connected to ships and a major factor for my vote.

I'm literally praying for a new harbour set next year.

Cool topic TB.

 Thanks mate :)

You bet - a very economical way to travel in LEGO City.

What did you vote TheBrickster?

Trains #1, but I'm also a bit partial to helicopters as well as ships (especially the floating kind). I also like smaller airplanes (like seaplanes) for a nostalgia factor. Thanks for asking. :classic:

Hmm. After some careful thought, I went for Bus. You can have more interesting dioramas with a bus, perhaps, than with a one-man car or a truck. Can't see Lego making another one for a while though.

I love planes, but my one-street city hardly has room for an airport!

That's a great and very interesting topic, TheBrickster!

I voted for

Boat/Ship

Of course all these vehicles you listed are very important and I would not like to dispense with any of them.

But boats and ships have imo a completely particular "charisma". Perhaps that's because of I really like the sea that much.

I know that I always wanted some Lego ships when I was a young boy - and I still want them. There is a lot of playability since you most of the time do not only get the ship on its own but even a lot of accessory, cargo stuff, minifigs and sometimes even a peer, a crane and an additional vehicle. So what do you want more?! :classic:

Imo the cargo ship from 2007 was really great. And even the CG Platform was a nice set. So I hope TLG will come back with some more ships and harbor sets next year.

Esp. I would like to get a tanker with oil raffinery and even more an oil rig and/or a pleasure cruiser with decent interior - that would be a dream becoming real!

I voted bus, I'm really glad that TLC finally gave us a decent bus in last year's City Corner, after all those years. I suppose that going 6-wide for vehicles helped. Buses are the very basis of public transportation almost anywhere in the world, and I'm a big fan. I'm also a huge fan of trains, so it would have been my second choice! What I would absolutely love to see is a realistic tram set, even if it were to be unpowered. The problem is, it probably wouldn't sell very well in the US. And I definitely second the call for some sort of realistic bus articulation, it would be so welcome!

At the other end of the spectrum, I always thought that helicopters were over-represented in Lego sets versus real life, probably because they add a lot of playability to action sets. Never had much love for them.

I voted for a boat/ship. Lego City needs a new port with a gantry crane similar to 6542, but oversized to deal with the new 6x12 stud wide containers. The old one can only handle 4x8 stud containers.

If only TLG produced a set like this again... :cry_sad:

Or TLG can produced a vehicle ferry (oh wait, there's one in Creator) or a passenger ferry or luxury yacht. Then can have a ferry terminal with boarding ram.

I voted vehicles. No surprise for everyone who know my passion of 5-wide cars (pretty much everyone who browse the Town forum  ).

On 2nd place I would choose... Motorcycles (MetroiD-style).

3rd place would probably be trains.
