I have a friend who happend to find out they had a lot of lego's lying around, so they offered to sell them to me first. But I need your opinion. How much should I offer for them? My first offer was 40 USD and he said "no way".

In case you were wondering the first box of legos is packed in a Knight's Kingdom - Scorpion Prison Cave (8876) box.

Thoughts?

I would figure out how much he has in total. From the pictures it looks like a bunch of other junk is mix in with the LEGO. I would sort it out.

Sort out the LEGO and offer $5 a pound.

P.S. I see a few MEGA blocks in there as well, pull them out!

I'd say 5$ and he would be lucky.

Must really sort. Tear down stuff as well because there could be clone bricks inside the built up things, get rid of non-lego and place clone bricks in another bunch. You might actually like the clone bricks but they cost less none-theless. Right now I think 40 USD was way too much, but perhaps there are good things hidden inside that box, seriously, sort.

I agree with the others. Sort out all the pieces and other toys out first. Then probably charge it by how much it weights. If you have sets in them, try to pull them out and make it complete. You get more money from a complete set than breaking it all up to pieces.

5 a pound is good deal, especially due to the lack of good looking pieces from the pictures. As others said, sort through ans see their worth. A few gems (figurative.. possibly literally) might be in the offer. It looks like 2 or three sets and a few plates and some old junk. $40 might have been a bit too much though. If I was him I would have jumped on that deal. Sort and do a bit of research. I doubt it'll be gone anytime soon.
