Hello everybody! :classic:

When thinking about which City sets TLG has already done and which not I remarked that TLG hasn't been releasing a school until now - what a pity since the most of us AFOLs as well as many young JFOLs would really  one. :cry_sad:

So I decided to design a school with LDD (already about one year ago). Here is the result:

School

(Pieces: 331)

The bell rings - the school begins. Which lesson will be first - Emglish or chemistry? And what do you do in the break - sitting on the bench in the school yard and eat your snack or playing basketball?

This set contains a school with entrance, regular classroom and chemistry lab, school yard with a bench, mailbox and basketball place, teacher, crossing guard, two girls, two boys and a lot of accessory.

The two class rooms:

Some more pics can be found in this folder (when public) of my BS gallery.

Please let me explain why I exactly chose these elements included:

1. Minifigs:

Of course there have to be some pupils - two boys and two girls. And of course there even has to be a teacher. The crossing guard is there that the pupils can cross the street without danger - he could even be used as second teacher or as an older pupil.

2. Exterior design:

The architecture should look like some of the older European school buildings. And it should look different to the regular type of buildings TLG normally uses for functional buildings such as fire and police HQs.

Of course there has to be a basketball busket in the school yard where the pupils can play in the breaks or after school. The bench is there for the pupils and teachers to sit and have a snack or simply relax.

3. Interior desgin:

Since this MOC should be similar to a possibly official Lego City set (therefore even the classification "MOCset" in the subtitle) space and bricks are limited. So I decided to include two class rooms: One regular one with the classic blackboard and two tables with seats for the pupils - that's the more classical room which is really needed but perhaps not that exiting. More exiting is the second room, the chemistry lab, which can of course be used as class room for physics and biology, too. It includes one table for the pupils to experiment and one other table and a secured glass cupboard (I regrettably can't remember the real name - chemistry lessons are to far away in the past) to show some experiments to his/her pupil. Between those two rooms there is the entrance with a small floor. Safes would have been very neat there but there is regrettably no space for them left.

4. Accessory:

Of course there have to be some backpacks, some "books" and some experimental stuff for the pupils. Plus some letters for the mail box. If there was a basket ball included in LDD I of course would have added it, too.

Comments are welcome! :classic:

Awesome MOCset! I think you captured the feeling of the location well, as well as the feel of an official set too. I love all the little details- the clocks, the bench, the basketball court, even the brown eraser on the blackboard. The chem lab is pure win.

Again, something desperately missing from Lego's town/city line. Excellent work on the interior K-D. The only thing I'd change is making doors from the hallway to the class rooms (like is done in the Town Plan cinema for example).

Nice Moc Klaus-Dieter.

Again, something desperately missing from Lego's town/city line.

I don't agree The Tan Townhouse had a very similar alternate build of a schoolhouse. Just add interior, and some minifigs, and remove the back wall.

Thank you all very much for your nice comments! :classic:

I'm really glad to hear that you like it.

May I use it for my town?

Of course you may. :classic:

Of course it's possible to build your own school, peterab.

But when you change a set or add something to a set then it's a MOC/MOD - but no longer the official set. And a school in the City line hasn't been released until now.

I firstly thought about that, too, but the chair in the class room would then be in front of the door that you directly move towards it.

Reminds me of the school house out of Postman Pat.......Very nice MOC 'Klaus-Dieter' ! :sweet:

Love the chem lab - just right for those children learning about the big bang theory !!

Great LDD job and I'm a conformist! !!

It reminds me of an old idea book I have somewhere. This is like a re-styling of that design, and a very good one, too

Nicely done, Klaus-Dieter!

I thought that kids as well as we AFOLs would prefer a chem lab instead of e. g. a hand work room with some sewing machines.
