A Denim Skirt

A green dress.

A half hearted attempt at tartan. Punk Rock etcetera.

After making the skirty thing for my Sorceress (yes, I misspelled, too late to turn back now) I decided to make a skirt, miniskirts even. So I altered the design and made these three varities. I am quite happy how they turned out and if I made them a tad longer and in solid red I can use them to indicate tunics on a Roman Soldier, or make them true tartan for a Scotsman... The list is endless.

Once again I used CAD, printed paper, careful cutting and double sided tape.

Lovely! )

Now you just need to find a decent way to make posh victorian-style dresses without making ladies taller than gentlemen, like it's done with slopes now. )

Good job! )

Good day, ladies and gentlemen! ) :classic:

Thanks.

I will save a template to my brickshelf , but sizing for any one wishing to print would be trial an error as I print from CAD at a 1:1 scale. I am also going to attempt longer skirts, ruffled skirts and any other sort I believe do-able.

Glad you all like them :classic:

Very nice work, Peppermint_M!

I'm not really expert with skirts, but I think a bit more of detailing, like a belt or a couple or pleats, at least on some of them, could look good too :classic:

These were just experiments, I hope to get some more drawn up tomorrow (in Uni today, so no CAD access) and experiment with new shapes and styles of skirt, plus add some extra details. These were just quick five minute "doodles" at lunch time.

As for stability and flexibility, I was hoping to alter the design or use a flexible material, that needs a little more research.

nice idea indeed.

maybe usage of plastic material will make the skirts have the LEGO feeling.

but i'm sure they're difficult to made compare to paper.

i hope LEGO will hear us and make the skirt mould.

Interesting idea - the first minifig works particularly well and the last one looks quite good too. Although there's something about it that makes the people look shorter, they seem a bit more dwarfish!

As for material I'd recommend cloth/fabric actually - my sister used to make custom minifig gear with cloth, painted all over if it was the wrong colour or needed to be less flexible. Mostly elaborate capes though.

I think you could make an odd sort of "sitable down in" garment by having the front and back as flaps, with tabs either side on both front *and* back flaps. But this would mean when they sit down the garment would hide their legs entirely. Also you'd need stiff enough material so the side tabs stay put, especially in the standing position where they would be doubled up. Perhaps not entirely clear without a diagram - sorry. Before folding the piece of material would look like a H shape.

Great job Peppermint_M! These look fantastic. The only thing I could think of to improve might be to make them out of some sort of fabric similar to the Asajj Ventress skirt/dress. I really like the plaid-punk skirt. Bang on!
