Gee man, give me some time!

Hey, I posted that yesterday, I had no idea it would even be frontpaged at all. OK, maybe I hoped. And maybe I figured... But still!

Thanks again for frontpaging this!

i don't even know what to say about this magnificent creation. The idea is absolutely astounding, i love every inch of it !! it reminds me a lot of Howls moving castle, ( i wonder if anyone has MOC'd that yet ? ). This is a truly stunning creation that is beyond anything, just amazing.

Someone has been reading the Traction City quartet (Mortal Engines, Predators Gold, Infernal Devices and A Darkling Plain. All by Phillip Reeve)

That was my initial thought as well! That is one great book-series, and aside from the "town-eating function", this mobile city is very similar to the ones in the books.

But that doesn't take away from the awesomeness of this MOC. It's pure WIN, and I'm sure AFOLs everywhere are building their own "cities-on-wheels" right about now.

I've built a "fortress-on-wheels" before, but a whole city... I don't know if I have enough pieces for that!

absolutely breathtaking... and original too! Never seen anything like it. I wonder if this sparks some imagination with some of the very good MOC-ers overhere... :classic:

Incredible detail. Personally, I would like a more futuristic version (or a steampunk version), but still great.

I remember I once had a series of sketches similar to this. Interesting to see a MOC of my ideas. =P

Maybe some extra work, and it could be turned into a huge AT-TE/city. If I ever had the parts to make this, I would definitely try it.

Spreechless, that is just the most insane creation I've ever seen.

Ridiculous. I can't even imagine how long this would take to think up, plan out, and build.

This thing is incredible! I've been trying to figure out how the street is made. Is the street parts just tile plates? I don't remember Lego selling just a street plate without being on a square or rectangular base plate. It would be kool if they sold street pieces like train tracks.

Now that I picked myself up from the floor ... WOW! This is amazing. So much detail and what an imagination. I totally agree with the decision to front page this despite EB's policy.

Holy cow!

This is one of the best MOCs I've seen in a while! It's impressive because it's big, but also because it's just an awesome concept. Yeah, it's like Howl's Moving Castle except bigger...

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!

That is incredible. I cannot believe it. That is the best LEGO model I have ever seen. EVER. What is the point of living after that thing has been made? I was going to say making it remote controlled, but it already has powered treads. Jesus Christ. How? Why? I honestly don't know what to say. Consider my mind blown. My pants are tighter for having seen this MOC. No matter how you interpret that sentence, it sums up a smidgen of how I feel.

One of the most mind-blowing MOCs I've ever seen. The concept is very cool, sort of like a (if anyone's seen ti) Nausicaa of the Valley of the Winds where humans live in a hostile future and inside massive fortresses and move around etc. The execution is amazing and looks very detailed, would have loved to see a lot more of it.

Though there are certain technical issues with the concept. I find it doubtful that those few teeny tiny solar panels could have powered the entire thing even an inch. The addition of a landing strip is very cool, like a walking aircraft carrier.

HOLY CRAP!!! That is the singlemost coolest thing I have ever seen! That is amazing (how much?). How many pieces are there, I am guessing a few thousand (or a million). When I firs saw it I thought that it was some type of power miners moc.

Wow , Thanks everyone for the amazing responses . I'm truly floored by how much everyone loves the MOC .

A few answers for people , Yes it is powered and each leg is fully independent suspension and pivotal, There is a geared technic motor inside each tread pod . When its on display the large Mining extraction claw ( in the middle of the undercarriage ) doubles as a support to the huge weight that the Lego above provides. Though by increasing the amount of rubber bands that are on the brown technic disc thingies you can increase the resistance in the travel of the suspension , enough to support the entire town, I chose that design for the legs cause I wanted Maximum travel distance so that way it could climb over large hills knowing that where WAY stronger suspension designs out there . Also I liked the way it looked too ( more important lol ) . I has manual front and rear steering as well ( that manual part is physical pivoting yourself as I couldn't build a steering thingy that could handle the stresses and still look good.

The main city Deck plate as well as the Air race platform are http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=30489 with baseplates put on top so that way the city could be removed for transport from Vancouver to Seattle for brickcon last year. I love these plates as they give holes on the bottom to attach plate to hide it all as well and they are very strong

Up until a few days ago I had never heard of Phillip reeve or his hungry city chronicles but since Have gone to the public library and am reading the book. I think its sweet that peter jackson is making into a movie :). The design for the whole thing started with getting the castle grey wheels in a draft and I got them and then was wondering " what the heck am i going to use these for ??!! " After building a prototype tread pod I thought I was going to build a Land dreadnought or something or a aircraft carrier. Then a friend mine suggested I make it a city , and after that I had all these great Eco ideas ( solar, wind, roof top gardens. there was even a concept water wheel that I build that was going to hang underneath to gather hydro power for rivers but I decided not to ) come to me . I actually built the whole MOC and then after had to come up with the background story to justify it, something that usually happens the other way around I think.

All in all it was 80 hours build time with maybe 10 hours of prototype development. And yes I used as many colors as I could to give it that layered city look .

Anymore questions feel free to ask . Thanks so much everyone and Eurobrick admins :)

I bet the people visiting BrickCon liked it a lot too  It's amazing. Very.. steampunk or postapocalyptic. I haven't read the Hungry Cities books but I've seen the covers in my bookshop some time ago and I thought of them when I saw this. Maybe I'll have to read them too, or atleast see the movie when it's finished.

I really like the industrial look of the legs and wheels. The suspension really works? Wow... you have a picture of the city going over some obstacle? It's very eco-friendly too with solar- and air power.. I'd have liked a large boiler or similar "dirty" powergenerator too, but I really like the garden. All the little minifigs growing their own food in their mobile city.

Anyway, great MOC. Truly inspirational!
