Chuck Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 As of now, the license ends in 2011!!! http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/060211/20060211005012.html?.v=1 <---full story here. -l2k- Quote
KMOI Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 Good to hear! But honestly, I kinda saw it coming. Hasbro also did the same thing, except their license ends in 2012 (I think). This is truly fantastic news, but it was almost inevitable. Now that they got things nailed down, who wants a Clone Wars series? :) Quote
sam89 Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 This is great news. It's good to hear they've also got the licence for the new animated TV series as well. Quote
Zane Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 Does anyone know if they'll have the license when the final trilogy is made? TT Quote
dunamis Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 This is great news! I'm surprised they didn't mention the live action TV series as well. Although they do mention they have the entire Star Wars univers... Quote
sam89 Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 Does anyone know if they'll have the license when the final trilogy is made?TT ??? Quote
gylman Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 I guess this is good, if it keeps TLC profitable so they can make more interesting things than spaceship after spaceship after spaceship. Quote
Beagle Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 Despite rumors that have been floating around, at this point there will not be a final trilogy. While nothing is ever certain, of course, George Lucas has stated very clearly (and repeatedly) that there will not be any more Star Wars movies. If there are, they certainly won't be made by him. Who knows, though..... if the TV show is really successful, anything is possible! Does anyone know if they'll have the license when the final trilogy is made?TT Quote
Zane Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 I thought he said that another trilogy was very likely. Ah well - Lucas is starting to milk Star Wars.... TT Quote
mutley777 Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 THIS IS GREAT NEWS! i think fans have been waiting for this news for a while. Quote
ApophisV Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 Does anyone know if they'll have the license when the final trilogy is made? TT ??? Yeah, what's the point? First of all, a final trilogy isn't confirmed, actually Lucas clearly said he won't make it. And even if he does it surely wouldn't be aired before 2011, so nobody can know if TLC will still have the license then... Quote
mutley777 Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 i hope to see more UCS sets in the future. i would love to see a Nebulon-B escort frigate in UCS. Quote
stan Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 Oh dear, i was kind of hoping it would not be renewed, so i could stop this collecting madness. Quote
Chuck Posted February 11, 2006 Author Posted February 11, 2006 Oh dear, i was kind of hoping it would not be renewed, so i could stop this collecting madness. Don't smoke SW Lego, it's addicting  . -l2k- Quote
hubhump Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 Oh dear, i was kind of hoping it would not be renewed, so i could stop this collecting madness. Oh NO!!!...I promised my wife I would stop in 2007. I told her I wouldn't expand my display in the basement beyond 2007. Anyone know a good divorce lawyer? Quote
gusmoore17 Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 Thrilling news!!! Hoping to see Clone Wars Sets!!!!! yeah! Quote
MattZitron Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 I thought he said that another trilogy was very likely. Ah well - Lucas is starting to milk Star Wars....TT When I saw all 6 Films together last May and Lucas attended, he said that the movies were the story of Darth Vader. And thus he wouldn't be making anymore. Though he's said someone could make a Knights of the Old Republic movie, in subsiquent interviews. But this is great news about the license. Clone Wars sets!!! Lego2000, attorney at law, at your service... Front page, o' right! I'm excited to see what sets will be made from the animated series. -l2k- Quote
Deinonychus Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 Outstanding! That's plenty of time to see more redesigned sets (like Slave I and the new A and B Wings), More UCS like the Y-wing and Snowspeeder, and perhaps...just perhaps a few more Expanded Universe ships like the TIE/d. I salute you LEGO, but my wallet curses you :-D Quote
tophdawg Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 YES!! this is great news. cant wait for teh show to see all the great new sets taht can be made Quote
Vader Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 Hmmmm i wonder how many redesigned sets we will get now, still im really glad that the license has been renewed i just cant imagine a lego world without SW anymore. Quote
ApophisV Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 It would be great to get redesigns of rare sets like the Ep.1 MTTs or the small BD carrier... Oh, and new Mini sets.... Quote
Cutty Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 I'm not happy about this. Whatever any random StarWars-geek may find I sort of find all newer designs the line carries very bland. When I think of SW-Lego nowadays it breaks down like this: "Useful parts for non-space? No. = worthless to me" But I admit of course it might be good news to the SW-crowd. Quote
Steff Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 wow.. cool ... but i hope, we'll get new sets and not more redesigns. I lost the fun of collecting lego star wars, when we get only new "old" sets.. Quote
tiberian Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 So this means no return of nonfranchise Space for 6 more years at least :( ... although given the quality of most current system scale sets vs the Star Wars line, that may be good thing. Quote
