TrumpetKing Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Saw Monsters University today. Great movie. Not quite as spectacular as the first one but it was still amazing. I'm surprised there wasn't that much of an antagonist either. The explanation behind the rivalry of Sulley and Randall being behind Randall's loss in the Scare Games was interesting too. I loved the Rozz and Waternoose cameos as well. All in all, it was a great movie, but it was just missing that spark that Boo gave us in the first one, IMO. I'd give it a 9.5/10. The Blue Umbrella, the short paired with the movie, was fantastic as well. Probably one of the better shorts I've seen. It was interesting how it felt more of a live-action short compared to the animated shorts we've sen before. I'd give it a 9/10. Great job, Pixar! Quote
just2good Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 (edited) Saw My Little Pony: Equestria Girls today on YouTube. IMHO, it was pretty rushed and full of cheap references to bring back the audience. Didn't like it at all, especially since it went against some of the aspects of MLP:FiM. I can't fail it as the animation was great (though some of the designs were lacking), as goes for the voice work and even one of the songs. D. Edited June 23, 2013 by just2good Quote
Tobias_Jay Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Just came back from World War Z. A few cliché moments but overall a great zombie movie. Some very nice jump scares and just when you think there is some down time… BAM… some zombie bursts out of a door or alleyway and the adrenaline gets pumping again. If you don't mind a bit of gore and jumpscares, I recommend you go see it. Quote
Leo604 Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Had another beginning-to-end run of Gladiator last night as sort of a break from exam studying. Quote

I totally agree, I watched this today and I thoroughly enjoyed it, although the certain parts that did make me jump made me laugh Quote
BlueberryWaffles Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Saw two classics for the first time...BTTF and Goldfinger. Quote
Stinky Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I *love* BTTF! All 3 of them. I'm one of the few that like the 2nd part best. Go see! Quote
Cammo Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Just watched Man of Steel. It was good but not 'Super'. Too much cgi for my taste but I'm glad I saw it theatres and also ended the way I wanted it too. Hopefully I didnt miss out after credit scenes... I will surely buy the kiddle sized set. Quote
BlueberryWaffles Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Casino Royale. I liked that there was a real romance, not just hey let's have sex bye next day girls dead and Bond don't care Quote
Tobias_Jay Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 I just came back from Man of Steel. Hands down best Superman movie (yes I know, it didn't have much to compete with). Zack Synder and Christopher Nolan have done something to Supes that I think I like. Quote
just2good Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Saw World War Z today! I thought it was (surprisingly) good. It was indeed filled with some cliches, but I found it overall entertaining. I'd give it a B. Quote
BlueberryWaffles Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 The Man with the Golden Gun. Liked it, I don't really like Roger Moore but I love Christopher Lee as Sarumanga. It was definitely the funniest Bond I've seen though. And it was nice that Goodnight was in a bikini for half the film. I'd give it a B. Quote
jimmynick Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 The Man with the Golden Gun is one of my favourites, especially because it has Sheriff J.W. Pepper, whose holiday is ruined by his second encounter with James Bond. It's a very silly film in the end, but it's great fun anyway. Quote

Palathadric Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Saw X-Men First Class for the first time. Was pleasantly surprised by it. Very few movies can make up to five decent parts, but X-Men has succeeded in doing that, to a certain extent. Even Star Wars could only manage four. Quote
CMP Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Just saw Alien for the second time. It and Prometheus are about the close I'll come to a horror movie. It was really good, I liked having a realistic sci-fi for a change. The first twenty minutes was just landing the shuttle. But I still loved the pacing of the whole thing. Quote
Artanis I Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 Just saw Alien for the second time. It and Prometheus are about the close I'll come to a horror movie. It was really good, I liked having a realistic sci-fi for a change. The first twenty minutes was just landing the shuttle. But I still loved the pacing of the whole thing. (Did you recognise Bilbo? ) It's good, because people are living normal life as they know it, something weird happens and none of them knows what is going on or understands (at least for a time). That's realistic. And as an observer you know something is going to happen but not what or when or how. That's exciting, and the pacing just adds to the reality of the story and the tension for the viewer. The very first Alien is by far my favourite of all those movies, it's the least action-dependent. Prometheus suffered in that you knew what to expect, unless you'd never seen any Alien movies before. If the Alien movies had never been made previously it would've had top marks from me rather than being a bit spoiled. Quote

I noticed Ian Holm's name in the credits, but couldn't recognize him in the movie. I saw Aliens first, but it didn't ruin this movie all that much the first time I saw it. I knew Ripley would live, but I was nonetheless excited to see what exactly went down. I was glad to see a lot more terror behind the xeno rather than in Aliens. In the latter, the problem is 'how do we kill all of them?' and in the first, it's more 'how do we survive against this?' which makes it a much more intense experience. Quote
Artanis I Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 I noticed Ian Holm's name in the credits, but couldn't recognize him in the movie. That's nothing, I watched Man Of Steel and completely missed Amy Adams until the credits... Quote
Tobias_Jay Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 Hey, the first two are great! Oh yeah, I agree. I was kinda referring to the other 3 . Quote
just2good Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Finally saw Weird Al's UHF... It was really funny! I'd give it a B+! Quote
iamded Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 I've been on an Ellen Page buzz lately so the last movies I saw were The Tracey Fragments - just my opinion but it seemed a tad pretentious, but it was a good movie. An interesting watch. Whip It - Hell, I enjoyed it. A but cliché sure, but done well, and it introduced me to a sport I never knew existed. Hard Candy - Goood film. Twisted, yeah, but I liked it. Oh and I totally forgot, I saw Europa Report the other day. It had an ensemble cast rather than focusing on Sharlto Copley's character like the trailers would have you believe, but that didn't stop it from being an enjoyable film. Worth seeing. Quote
Esurient Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Saw Monsters University today. Great movie. Not quite as spectacular as the first one but it was still amazing. Same here! Watched it today and I enjoyed it. I felt that they rushed the plot towards the end, but nevertheless, it was good Quote
Leo604 Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 World War Z last night; to be honest, it was a lot better than I thought. Not a lot of cheesiness, and there were a lot of good scary moments. The ending was a little too anticlimactic but overall I'd give it a 7/10. Quote
SandMirror38 Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 A good old classic Jurassic Park Sadly my good TV's broken so had to use the back-up Still that film never gets old Quote
