Aredhel Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 This weekend I watched three movies on DVD. First one was "Nanny McPhee" which was really cute and a nice movie. The second one was "Revenge is sexy" (dont know if thats the official english title). Its about highschool girls, all in different cliques who are all together with one boy. One day they get to know that he betrayed them all and they plan a revenge. Very funny and good movie. The third movie was "One hour photo" with Robin Williams. A good movie, too, but very very sad in a way. -Aredhel Quote
mutley777 Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Finaly went to see PotC and loved it! *y* After the average spidey3 i was not holding out much hope, but i think the movie delivered. Hope you all stayed after the credits to see the real end :-) . Quote
Greatdane Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 i just watched an old film called 'The Warriors' for the first time, its a pretty good concept that has never been repeated since, dunno y them gangs rock! The music is great in the film to, i recommend it for the adults out there Quote
Izzy Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 (edited) *y* Ghost rider. poor film really no match for spiderman :-X .i also watched "spirited away" anybody seen that film? its great! I've got Spirited Away it is absolutely brilliant , sad :'-( and happy :-P and magical.... and many more in the Hayao Miyazaki collection. I especially love *wub* 'Howl's Moving Castle' and 'Whispers of the Heart'. Edited June 21, 2007 by cutlass_iz Quote
Cyclone Titan Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 I saw Spirited Away again yesterday. Excellent film, nice music, compelling artwork, good story. Yeah, excellent anime, I mean sheesh, if Miyazaki was any better at anime, he'd be the anime god! :-P The movie is really good if you turned it on at the beggining of it, otherwise, the plot can be a bit hard to follow. Izzy Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 Yeah, excellent anime, I mean sheesh, if Miyazaki was any better at anime, he'd be the anime god! :-P He is the ANIME GOD!!!! Name one movie he has created that is bad.... or one that isn't amazing and creative and inspirational. Quote
Brainbox Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 (edited) Hope you all stayed after the credits to see the real end :-) . Unfortunately, no. I was with my dad and sister, and they kind of rushed me off at the credits. Never mind, I'll see it when it comes out on DVD. Off to see FF today. Couldn't go before now because of my exams. Should be good. EDIT: Just got back, as I went into town afterwards. Fortunately, I managed to miss some really heavy rain waiting for ages to be served in the bank. Anyway, the film. There was hardly anyone there, probably because it was the middle of the week and everyone's at work or school. Seriously, ther was one member of staff that I could see. Anyway, I thought the film was pretty good. I really want a Fantasti-car. I liked how close it strayed to the comics as well. Back in the 60s, Reed and Sue's wedding was interrupted by an attack (albeit completely different), Doom did steal the Surfer's powers and Stan Lee did try to crash the wedding (a great cameo, btw). Power-swapping was recently used in a Galactus story on the Waid/Wieringo run, and the female soldier was Frankie Raye, a later herald of Galactus, Nova. And the bit where Galactus moves through space, casting a shadow across a planet... I'm sure I saw the shadow look like the comic helmet. And I also thought it was funny ( >:-) ) that everyone ran off and missed the Surfer bit during the middle of the credits. I didn't... And Mr Fantastic dancing. :-D Edited June 21, 2007 by Brainbox Quote

Echo Posted June 23, 2007 Posted June 23, 2007 Batman Begins. That movie is completely awesome! Quote
Brainbox Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 Watched 'The Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell of Fear' yesterday. A wonderfully funny, silly and utterly daft film. The big jokes are funny, but the best bits are the little things that you sometimes miss. There was one scene where Drebin was walking through a crime scene, and all the bodies had been stencilled round. Amonst all the outlines was a stick man, and an Egyptian sand-dancing. :-D That was near the beginning. You can see where this film is going... Quote
iamded Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 At the movies (in order from least recent to most recent); 3. Spider-man 3 (*wub*) 2. Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End (*y*) 1. Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer (*y* *y*) I love Marvel! *wub* Quote
Vader Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 Ok finally got around to watching FF2 on weds, it was good but like the first it didnt have the best of endings which is a damn shame. Friday i watched Raiders of the lost ark again, man that film is just soooo good. I had forgotten how good in fact, a true classic. And finally tonight i watched Temple of Doom again, it was ok but not a patch on the first im sorry to say. Now onto The Last Crusade...... Crusade on!!! Quote
CopMike Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Happy 4th of July all you Americans ! Ras & I are going to see Transformers in about 2 hours - will be back with a review! Update 09:32 PM Cool mechas, good action, a little to much "Speach to the nation"-stuff. Overall it Quote
Mr Hobbles Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Oceans Thirteen. Way better than Oceans Twelve, and in fact almost on par with Oceans Eleven! I really liked it, it's very clever. :-) Quote
Brainbox Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Went to see Die Hard 4.0 today with my dad. Both of us enjoyed it. Sure, the first one is still the best, but it was great for explosions. And Bruce Willis traded the ol' vest for a shirt-thing. Obviously old-age doesn't do vests ;-) . But, anyway, there were some really good action sequences, and there were a few laughs from people in the cinema. And it was better than being rained on. Oh, and I had a geek-y moment in identifying the figure statuettes scattered throughout the hackers' houses. I saw Vision (Marvel Comics), Obi-Wan Kenobi, possible Giant-Man but I couldn't quite tell, and the one McClane broke might've been Spawn, but I'm not sure. And there was obviously the Boba Fett cut-out standee. Quote
5150 Lego Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 Saw transformers on July 4th. Best movie of the year by far! Highly recomend it! Lots of action, very true to the original G1 series in many aspects, very funny, but yet still remains a serious movie. CGI is to notch. Animation of the bots to vechile, and vis-versa is incredible. Can't wait to go back and see it again. There were a couple things that could have been better (what movie is perfect?) but over all i thought micheal bay did a great job. Many die hard Transfomers fans were judging the movie before evening seeing it. Saying micheal bay ruined there childhood and such. 95% of them have now turned a 180 and are giving there apoligizes to micheal bay as they loved it. I know i've been talking about this movie to death all over the forums, but this is probbly the only movie in the last 3 years that has lived up to all the hype, and exceed my expectations. This isn't an acadamey award winning film, but it wasn't made to be. Its was made to entertain, and boy it does! Quote
Norrington Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 In this order here are my most recent movies in reveiw form: 1) Pirates of the Caribbean, At World's End Thoughts: The movies was pretty good. Better than Dead Man's Chest, but not as good as Curse of the Black Pearl. To qoute the "Ask a Ninja" reveiw of AWE; "Take the confusion of PotC:DMC, multiply it by a bucket of chicken, and you have PotC: AWE." I think they didn't want to make any sequels, so they made the writers kill of all the "Bad Guys" (Norrington was not a baddie! He gave his life for Elizabeth!) Final Rating: *y* *y* *y* *y* (out of 5) 2) Shrek the Third Thoughts: Very amusing! I noticed that in the Palace scene with Prince Charming, that the giant portrait in the backround is the painting of Napoleon's coronation, and the music during the play at the end was "Danse Macabre", by Franz Liszt Final Rating: *y* *y* *y* *y* 1/2 3) The Haunted Mansion (on DVD) Thoughts: Well, this was an attempt to catch on the "Make a DisneyLand ride into a movie" bandwagon, and was not very good. The sets were marvelous, the score amazing, and costumes perfect! The story, however, lacked. I'm sad that my second favorite Disney ride had to be disgaced like this. :'-( Final rating: *y* *y* 1/2 4)Liscence to Wed Thoughts: Very nice! I don't have much to say, but I liked it alot! Final Rating: *y* *y* *y* *y* 1/2 There you have it! Quote
Paradosis Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 (edited) The last movie I saw (with the exception of the movies on cable) was the new Pirates of the Caribbean, which I finally got to last week. I have to admit, I was very bored with it. I'm not sure how they can spend so much money, and have so much talent, and yet come up with what they did. Well, I have a pretty good idea where the problems started, and that's in having 5 people making significant/final contributions to the screenplay (it's typical for lots of people to work on a screenplay, and hand it off to new people if it's not working out or comes to a writer's block, but for Pete's sake, 5 cooks in the kitchen at the same time? No wonder the movie went in 5 different directions, had a number of almost-endings, etc...). I didn't think that the movie was bad per se, I just felt cheated for having spent $17 (plus $4 for a soda) for my wife and I to watch a movie that I was bored with. Mr Hobbles Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 Die Hard 4.0 (Or as the American's call it, Live Free or Die Hard, which is a much better title...) I loved it. It is a very different movie to the first three, but it's still a great action movie. Bruce Willis has still got it, and Mac-guy is awesome. Oh, and Timothy Olyphant is one of my favourite actors ever. *y* :-D Quote
Aredhel Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 I watched 2 DVDs yesterday. One of them was "Stranger than fiction"...it was ok, but not that much things to laugh, but with a nice end! After that I watched "World Trade Centre" with Nicolas Cage.It was a "heavy" movie. Sometimes really hard. The main story was about the two police boys (Nicolas Cage and Michael Pena) buried alive under the broken down WTC towers and their familys. It was very gloomy, but well done. Did not think before that there would be such good movie about this drama! Greetings, Aredhel Quote
mutley777 Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 I bought Transformers the movie on DVD at the weekend and watched it last night. It was the remastered one with surround sound and widescreen. I felt like i was 12 years old all over again! Great movie, great sound track (bought that on cd too :-) ) and the animation still looks great today! Shame they had to kill off prime :'-( . Quote
xwingyoda Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 I saw last night Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix 8- Quote
PocasNuckie Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 That is a nice question ... i sincerely don't remember at all ... i think it was Star Wars Return of the Jedi ... atleast it's the last one I can remember .... *wacko* Pocas Quote
