JoeMI6 Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 HP 5 - I really enjoyed it, and I think it's probably the best harry potter film yet, considering the shambles that number 4 was. Quote
xwingyoda Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Saw Hot Fuzz and its just hilarious !! I haven't seen Shaun of trhe Dead so I didn't know what to expect :-P The movie starts as a quite funny cop movie, and then turns out to be hilarious !! Heavy guns on !! Really a fantastic British movie, a must see really !! Its the story of a fantastic London cop who gets sent to the countryside (because he made all policemen look like lazy bums :-D ) And he lacks the action !! What does he have to do ? nothing really exciting, apart from chasing a swan :-P Then finallly a series of murders happen in that all so perfect town, so our cop wants to get to the bottom of it hehe. When he discovers the story, he is chased out of the town... BUT that when things start to get nasty 8- Quote
JoeMI6 Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 Hot Fuzz is a fantastic movie, as is Shaun of the Dead. The last movies I saw were Simpsons and Transformers, both really enjoyable summer pictures. Just more movies proving that this really is an awesome year for cinema (no matter what the critics say ;-)) Quote
Wout Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Last Monday Pirates of the Carribean 3, very nice and better than 2, Especially the scene where Jack is in the chest and is with the black pearl on a great white plain with white rocks who are suddenly little crabs. It looked like it was made by Salvador Dali *y* Last Thursday HP Order of the phoenix. Good movie, maybe sometimes to much scenes skipped from the book. Quote
Aredhel Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 I have seen the Simpsons on Saturday evening. It was sooo hilarious! I just sing: Spider-pig, spider-pig... Really really cool! *wub* -Aredhel Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 I saw Jurassic Park yesterday. it's a good movie. Lawyers getting eaten ON! Quote
mutley777 Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 I saw transformers tonight and loved it!! A great film worthy of the cartoons! :'-) Quote
Brainbox Posted August 1, 2007 Posted August 1, 2007 Watched 'Daredevil' on the BBC the other night. Nothing to report really. Not a bad film, but nothing particularly brilliant about it. Then on Sunday night I watched 'From Russia With Love' on BBC2. Classic Bond. I love it! Quote
conductorjoe Posted August 1, 2007 Posted August 1, 2007 The last movie I watched was Evan Almighty. Interesting. Funny in some parts, but it was overall just kind of weird :-P At least they managed to make a humorous movie without resorting to trashy stuff. Quote
JoeMI6 Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Hairspray. It really surprised me, it's such a feel good movie and you can't help tapping your feet along to all the catchy tunes. It's got a nice moral center about tolerance and is just great fun. I challenge you not to laugh at John Travolta playing a woman. Quote
Brainbox Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 On Saturday I went to see Transformers (finally) with my dad. See my full thoughts in the TF thread. And today, I went to see The Simpsons with my family. See my thoughts in the Simpsons thread. Quote
andy_0306uk Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Last saw at cinema was "Batmin Begins" cool film Last saw on DVD was "The Big Lebowski" - very wierd Quote
Timento Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 I'm gonna watch The Simpsons movie today, I should've gone a week ago but it turned out that we didn't have time... I'm so excited *sweet* Quote
xwingyoda Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Went with *vader* and Mrs *vader* to see Ratatouille 8- Quote
Scouty Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Hmm, SpaceBalls! Fun :-) . Also, a bunch of documentories! A couple Shark Week documentories Man Vs. Survival Space (back to the moon!) And...I didn't finish it, but Ernest goes to Jail! I want to go and see Ratatouille Quote
UniqueBuilder Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 (edited) The Other Sister - Carla Tate and Daniel McMahon are both mentally retarded and fall in love. In the end they marry eachother.. A very weird movie, but also a very nice one. :'-) There was a good lot of humor, too; I almost crapped my pants when Daniel got drunk and went on stage during Carla's sister's wedding's afterparty! :-D Edit: Went with *vader* and Mrs *vader* to see Ratatouille 8- Edited August 7, 2007 by UniqueBuilder Quote
Khorne Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Evan Almighty. It's a good movie with some funny scenes, but it is way too 'biblical' for me :-/ . If it weren't for all the funny stuff, this movie would be really boring :-| . First one is waaay better, IMO. Quote
trooperdavinfelth Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 I last watched Shaun of the Dead. *y* So hilarious. Those New Zealanders sure can make a crazy movie! He first wakes up, and he's all bleeehhhhh, so when he walks down the street to the general store he looks like a zombie to all the zombies around him. Of course, he neither notices the zombies or the catastrophic damage littered everywhere. He enters the store and goes to the freezer. He doesen't notice the stain of a bloody hand on it and picks out a can of something. He lays the money on the table, and the guy hiding under there says thank you. He then returns to his house where his friend Ed is introduced. Ok, I won't go through the entire movie, but it's really funny and at the end, he's playing video games with Ed who was bitten by a zombie and is one, and Ed is chained to the wall. It just shows how worthless his life really is. It is, however, rated R only for repeated instances of salty language, but it's still on the whole a good movie. Quote
Lord Thrawn Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 ...Those New Zealanders sure can make a crazy movie!... Um, it's British. Quote
KMOI Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 (edited) Um, it's British. Tee hee hee! Well, this summer has practically been made by blockbusters! Here's just a few thoughts on some I've seen: Spider-Man 3: Not exactly what alot of people were expecting, but all in all a fun ride. Final battle was pretty well much the best fight of all the Spider-Man movies! Pirates of the Caribbean, At World's End: Simply amazing. Killer soundtrack, amazing scenes and great fights. It's actually turned me into a Pirates fan! While I lamented the loss of the palm trees and other such tropical scenery, pretty well much every scene was memorable! I loved how the film pulled you into the action, truly making it a unique experience! This would be my favorite film of the summer if not for... Ratatouille: Best movie I've ever seen. EVER. It's absolutely flawless. From the truly genuine comedy to the breathtaking scenery, this movie is without the doubt THE movie of summer 2007. If this film gets beat out of a well deserved Academy Award by some surfing penguin cartoon, heads will fly, I tell ye! Transformers: Truly more than meets the eye! With a good mix of both action and comedy, this is definately a personal favorite. I really wished we saw more fights, but the movie was good as is! Harry Potter 5: Pretty good movie! My only complaint about the movie was that the final battle was a bit shorter than I had anticipated. My other issue revolves around the fact that it gets "darker" with every movie. I understand the themes are darker, but is it really nessesary to use so little lighting? I mean, at this rate, the last movie will look like CSI! :-P But all in all, a fun movie! Bourne Ultimatum: Another good thrill ride! My only complaint is that the camera got a bit too shaky during the car chase scene, but it was quite a thriller nontheless! I absolutely loved the chase scene in Morocco. Yep, it's been a good summer. Next up: Rush Hour 3! Edited August 13, 2007 by KMOI Quote
trooperdavinfelth Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Um, it's British. No, as far as I know it was made in New Zealand. Quote
Brainbox Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Transformers: Truly more than meets the eye! Sorry, I've already done that joke. ;-) No, as far as I know it was made in New Zealand. No, it's British. It stars two British comedians, was filmed in Britain, has cameos and supporting roles from other British actors/comedians, is set in Britain and was written by Britons. Quote
trooperdavinfelth Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 KK, BBox. I read somewhere that it was filmed in New Zealand. Anyway, I just watched the 300 last night. So freaking wild. It so reminded me of the battle of the Pelennor Fields, with the Persians being the Haradrim. Now for the half-troll: There were indeed Half-trolls from the South in Harad, but the main thing that makes me wonder is why is there a bump in the middle of his chest? Anyway, the General is definitely a full fledged troll, and the Immortals are so totally Orcs. The Elephants? Oliphaunts. And, to top it all off, if you watch the Return of the King and go to the battle, you will see several Mumakil Commanders. Xerxes fulfills that place, and Leonidas is just like Eomer in that he was taking out a Mumak Comander. Anyway, the blood precision was amazing. >:-) I slept well that night. X-D Plus, the lines are just great. 'Immortals, eh? Let's put that name to the test'. Quote
