Just overwhelmingly *meh*. I might share some comments over on the DC-specific thread, if I decide I care enough. I got around to watching Justice League the other day too. It wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be. The "overwhelming *meh*" is a good discription for this movie. I feel Ezran Miller might not been the best choice for the Flash. Or I am just comparing Miller's version to Grant Guston's version from the CW's Flash. And then there is the Superman's lip fiasco the only time I really notice it was at the beginning with the kid's blog video. I guess the next thing was with Stephwolf far as I am concerned he was just a powered up Pardemon. The last thing is with Aquaman and when he was sitting on the "lasso of truth" and spilling his guts out. Now in Theory it is funny but it was not laugh out loud funny, now you could say was a problem for the whole film with the other jokes. Quote

I'm a big fan of Blomkamp's work. I would suggest it. Okay, I just checked it out last night, and yeah, it's not a bad film! I must say though, the ending felt somewhat different from the rest of film's tone, as that one gantry battle between Damon's character and the mercenary felt a little like something out of a superhero movie. I'm not saying I didn't enjoy that scene as a result, it was only amusing in a way. Quote

He's directed several proof of concept films that will never be made but he really loved the ideas of. He crowd funds them and for what budget he has they're really quite astonishing. Here's just one he's done. I've seen Rakka, and it's fantastic. I also watched Adam, both because it was Blomkamp, and because it was produced in the Unity game engine. I'd recommend that one. 42 minutes ago, Digger of Bricks said: Okay, I just checked it out last night, and yeah, it's not a bad film! It took a lot of liberties from the original story, but I think it worked out quite well. I'm not sure the original story would have translated easily into a movie, so the changes were understandable to me. Of course, now I wish that LEGO would have made a few sets for it Quote
Master_Data Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 Ready Player One - great movie! Can't wait for the sequel (which the author is still in the middle of writing)! 29 minutes ago, spiderfan2000 said: Of course, now I wish that LEGO would have made a few sets for it That would have been a license headache for the corporate end...but it would have been awesome! Maybe for the sequel or an Ideas set. Quote

Being a Warner Bros movie, I'd guess that an Ideas submission would ideally be executed as a project featuring only the book's original characters/vehicles plus licensed characters/vehicles who are the property of only one film studio (preferably WB). Forresto Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 Lego Dimensions is already essentially the Lego Ready Player One Quote

rodiziorobs Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 I did not return again to the Bat Corner of Embarrassment (I have been slowly catching up on BTAS episodes on Amazon, but those don't count), but instead watched Captain America: the First Avenger. It had been awhile since I saw it, and I had clothes to fold. I am still amazed how much this movie had to accomplish and how, even though it feels stretched a bit thin in places, it makes it all work. Quote
Digger of Bricks Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 Christopher Nolan's Interstellar from 2014. It was an interesting film to say the least. Quote

Mostly the big ones as far as science fiction goes. Oblivion was great, and so was Edge of Tomorrow, (both with Tom Cruise). I don't know if it counts, but I really liked Arrival. Ender's Game was good, if you don't think about the books too much. And if you go in with low expectations, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is OK. There are a couple of other science fiction movies I would recommend, but they don't take place in space, nor do they involve alien life. I would suggest Chappie and Ex Machina. Master_Data Posted April 13, 2018 Posted April 13, 2018 Thor Ragnarok. I know it got great reviews, but I felt that the plot was stretched thin in quite a few places, and certain parts which were meant to invoke emotion just didn't work. It was okay, I guess, but it didn't live up to the hype IMO. Quote

The same thing happened to me with Arrival, so I figured it might not have been as good as it looked, or maybe it didn't perform well at the box office. Well, it actually made quite a bit of money and was reviewed strongly. It even got 8 Oscar nominations. It turned out to be a great movie, every bit as good as I had hoped when I saw the original trailers. Quote

The acting from the 2 leads could have been much better. And the story took some weird detours, but I get that it was following a comic book plot. Still, I found it an enjoyable watch. But like I said, I went in expecting it to be a steaming pile of crap. It was a few lukewarm turds dressed up really nice. Gorgeous. Especially the opening sequence. Quote
