tomdobs55 Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Saw the odd life of timothy green the other night. Not terrible, a little predictable though. Made the missus cry. Quote

Scorpiox Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 (edited) The Ring: Pretty confusing, I had to have a lengthy conversation afterwards before I was content that I understood it. Anyhow, I very much enjoyed it and thought it to be atmospheric and creepy. Not for the faint-hearted, definitely. However, there were one or more things that confused me. Why was Samara so... well, evil? I understand that she was rejected, mistreated and suchlike, but why did that mean she wanted to take revenge on people that had nothing to do with her death? More so, how was she able to create the video tape and kill people from beyond the grave? And finally, why did Richard kill himself after however many years? It's not like the curse hadn't happened before, what suddenly made him want to end his life? Edited September 28, 2013 by Scorpiox Quote
Daenerys Targaryen Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 Erased... basically, Bourne + Taken + Harvey Dent = Epic-Win! Quote
just2good Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 (edited) I forgot to post about it, but I saw Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2 on Saturday. It was definitely a huge disappointment compared to the first one. There were barely any laugh at loud moments, but the funny parts were really funny. The puns got old after a while. The animation was a bit too... crazy. I'd give it a D+. Edited September 30, 2013 by just2good Quote

I forgot to talk about this one, but I saw Jobs late last month. Ugh. I did not like that film at all. I would give it an F. Quote

Leo604 Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Watched batman returns. The best batman movie apart from the dark knight. You didn't like the other Nolan movies? Quote
Kintobor Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 I believe the last film I saw was Dredd, and that was fun. I usually don't say it, but this looked like it would have been fun to see in 3D. It was overall a fun little action that I'll probably never watch again, but it was good none the less. I also watched The Dark Knight Rises for the first time. I didn't like it. Before I get flamed, the last act: phenomenal, in another movie. It just didn't feel like Batman. Oh, the whole city's under lockdown by a guy who sounds like Sean Connery on a respiratory. That's cool, but not in Batman. It's like one of those tacky America got to get rid of the filthy commie/ terrorist films that have shown up lately (Red Dawn remake, White House Down, etc.) I like some of the concepts, but the film falls flat on its rear end. Which is a shame, because the films first few and last few moments where we learn what happens to Bruce and Selina are good! As well, Bane as a villain was an exposition machine. "Let me tell you about people, Mr. Wayne! Let me tell about the upper class, Gotham! Let me tell you about the growth on my foot, internet!" Sure he has his scary moments, but he's too clean. If you want to make him an intellect with the mind of a killer, show it! Have him snap, have him kill some guy! Talia felt rushed at best. I wish Talia was brought up in The Dark Knight so when this film rolled along her betrayal felt more genuine. Finally, the main problem with the film was that it could never recreate what The Dark Knight created. The Dark Knight is an outstanding crime drama, with great action, dialogue, and acting. The Dark Knight Rises could never be as good or better than that. And that's the movies downfall. That being said, Anne Hathway as Catwoman was great, the acting was all around good, and so was the action. It's just the plot sucks. It got interesting until Bane took control of the city. It felt really out of place for Batman. My rating: 6/10. Quote
Scorpiox Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 -snip- That film's worth seeing purely for Bane's voice, it's so damn funny. Quote
Leo604 Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Friday Night Lights; another great and emotional sports movie. Quote

Leo604 Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 EDIT: changed buttock to bullock...autocorrect... Lololol Just watched Real Steel last night; outside of the really bad and cheesy (metal vs metal, steel smashing steel, etc.) fight commentary at the end, I liked it a lot. It should've gotten more than a 60% on RT. Quote
RelicRaider Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 I saw Run Fatboy Run on TV last night. it was really funny. :D Quote
Oky Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Saw gravity and left the theater within 30 minutes. What a boring movie. Really? I thought it was one of the most suspenseful movies in a long time, not to mention very well shot. If Bullock gets an Oscar for that role, I think she deserves it. But I guess suspenseful movies aren't everybody's thing... Just watched Real Steel last night; outside of the really bad and cheesy (metal vs metal, steel smashing steel, etc.) fight commentary at the end, I liked it a lot. Oky Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Yeah, I really liked Gravity, which I saw last night. I'd give it an A. The obvious symbolism was REALLY annoying, though. To be honest, I didn't catch it when I was watching it, but after hearing some of the reviews, I can totally see it and it's bugging me too. Why does every survival movie have to have religious undertones? Quote
Leo604 Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Downloaded Oblivion last night; after watching it, I'm glad I didn't spend the money to go see it in theatres. Quote
