Vindicare Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Saw gravity and left the theater within 30 minutes. What a boring movie. I somewhat agree. I thought it was overall pretty slow. It had some great moments and was shot brilliantly. Maybe it was the lack of cast that made it feel slow... I enjoyed it, but in my eyes not really worth the buzz it's getting. Quote
Leo604 Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Saw both Prisoners and Captain Phillips this past Saturday. I don't mind cliffhangers in movies (eg. Inception), but the one where Jake Gyllenhaal just looked after hearing the whistle wasn't satisfying at all. The movie was also a little long, and if they had had him at least finding out where Hugh Jackman was hidden, I'd say it would've been a better conclusion. Captain Phillips was perfect in every way. I heard that it is better if seen in 3d but I wasnt going to pay that much. Quote
Vindicare Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Saw Machete Kills. It was so bad it was good. A lot of...interesting deaths. Some good comedic moments. Quote
Fikko3107 Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Runner Runner last Saturday. Horrible movie. The only somewhat redeeming feature is Ben Affleck's acting. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 Gravity -- an absolutely remarkable film. Look for this one at awards season, folks! Quote
Leo604 Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Gravity -- an absolutely remarkable film. Look for this one at awards season, folks! Just got back from this too; I wouldn't say it's my pick for Best Picture, but a great movie regardless. Quote
Tobias_Jay Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Just saw Gravity, loved it. It is stunning in 3D, really feels like you are in space. Quote
Jim Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Just saw Gravity, loved it. It is stunning in 3D, really feels like you are in space. Agreed! Very cool movie. Quote
just2good Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Ha, saw R.I.P.D. on TV today. It was pretty bad- the jokes didn't hit, the CGI was awful, and the characters weren't even developed. Now, I wasn't bored during Gravity, but I was bored during this. Definitely an F. Quote
Kez Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 (edited) I watch that many films that l would easily have a few hundred comments in this very topic, (about 3 everyday but I will only update with the cinema movies) So without further ado I watched Captain Phillips at the cinema today and I must say its one of the best films l have seen in a long time, the acting was great, the quality was great, especially the plot, and to say that its based on a true, quite recent story makes it even more so... I would highly recommend this film and it may have actually subtracted money from my lego budget, that maersk Alabama ship is fantastic and looks rather similar to the lego set, although I'm not entirely sure if its the same model. So if yall havent yet watched this fantastic film, get to the cinema right away, I'd certainly rate it a 10/10 and its an oscar worthy performance for Tom Hanks. Edited October 28, 2013 by Kez Quote
Artanis I Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Saw Gravity in 3D. It was pretty good, I liked the shots, the performance, the perspective. A nice slow movie to enjoy the views and get a sense of the location. It seemed too short for a slow movie though, an extra 30 minutes would've been better. But I like my movies long. And slow. Slow scenes, that is, not slow pans - maybe I'll grow into them too. Quote
The Joker1 Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Watched the midnight double bill of Thor/Thor 2 last night, The new one is brilliant, A lot of unexpected twists, Some good humor and excellent fight scenes.Just as a marvel film should be Quote
Kez Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 I watched escape plan today, it was an awesome film although I'm surprised its so under the radar as it hasn't had too much advertisement imo, there were some good humour parts, and it was action packed all the way through, I would recommend seeing this film. Watched it too last...week? Yeah, last week. A friend of mine who's a stickler when it comes to vehicles insisted the Maersk Alabama is a radically different model than the Maersk Triple-E, but I too noticed the similarity. I think Tom Hanks' acting was top-notch, but my problem with it is one, without Tom Hanks it could easily have been a mediocre movie, and two, it really isn't what really happens in real life; Captain Phillips isn't really that heroic at all. greeny Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 I saw Thor 2 yesterday. The action was great as always and the humor was also there. However, there was to much forced humor from Jane Fosters friend. Thor and Loki were awesome, seeing more of the other Asgardians like Lady Sif would have been nice but oh well. The only weak part was the villain with no real motives. Loki pretending to be Odin at the end? Does he now rule Asgard? What happened to Odin? I really hope we will find out very soon! Oh- the Captain America cameo was awesome! Overall the film does a much better job at being a sequel to Thor and the Avengers than Iron Man 3 was a sequel to both Iron Man 2 and the Avengers. I'd give it an 8 out of 10. Quote
just2good Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 I do see lots of films! So, today, I got to see Ender's Game! I haven't read the book, but I really enjoyed the film! B+ Quote
Tobias_Jay Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 Thor: The Dark World. A great continuation to the Avengers saga. I loved the humour and the action scenes. Definitely recommend it to anyone. Oh and stay until the very end of the credits. Quote
Kommotion Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 Psycho. Absolutely an outstanding film in its genre. The movie gives you something to think about, as opposed to other, blood n' guts horror movies. Evil Dead (the new one), for example. I watched it this past Thursday with some friends. It is the worst horror movie I've ever seen. Two hours of raining blood, with a scrappy excuse for a "plot". Quote

SteampunkDoc Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 The Adventures of Tintin A wonderful little CGI film that is very top-notch in my opinion. I've not heard of the franchise before, so didn't have any bias for or against the characters, but that only proved that the movie is more than capable of standing on it's own. It's realistic enough to take some parts seriously, but also cartoon-y enough to still have fun. It had some great one-liners, and while the ending felt a bit off, it's not eough to riun the rest of the film. Overall it's a great movie, especially for a family movie night. And better yet, it's free on Amazon Prime! Quote
kermit Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Saw Thor the dark world and it was very good. I just dont understand what they did with Loki though in the end of the movie given what took place during the movie......no spoilers Quote
Teessider Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Young Sherlock Holmes. I really enjoyed it. It's creepy in parts and has good drama, and its fun as well. It's also one of the first films that Pixar worked on. Quote
