KotZ Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Holy Motors. That was one weird movie but I loved every single minute of it. Quote

Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Brilliant film, despite the cliffhanger at the end. Easily the best film I've seen in 2013. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Frozen. Looooooved it! Want to go and see it again. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Lord of the Rings the Two Towers, I've seen the last hour or so a billion times, but finally got to see the whole thing. Very little Frodo and Sam in the movie, which I'm fine with, didn't read the book (but I plan to) so I don't know how much time Arwen got in the books, but I would have loved an extra ten minutes in the movie. But considering how it was done I'm sort of happy they left her out to give Eowyn a bit of screen time. And yes I know I sound like I have no idea what I'm talking about, sorry I don't read anything besides comics and reviews Quote
Sir_Basil_Ashton Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Mission Impossible 3. Hadn't seen it in a few years and it just so happened to be the only thing on worth watching. Quote
just2good Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. It was definitely better than the first. I wasn't bored at all (sans for Gandalf's little side story, but even that was brief) during the film. Among other small flaws, there was a ton of CGI that looked a bit fake to me. Still, it's a low A. Quote
Ceroknight Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Watched Desolation of Smaug as well, really good everything was better than the first one except maybe the soundtrack, but that's just my taste Quote
Ultron Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Saw Desolation of Smaug twice and it was god awful both times. I almost started crying. Terrible, terrible adaptation. The only thing I enjoyed was the spiders talking and smaug. Other than that, almost nothing. Quote
Palathadric Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 didn't read the book (but I plan to) so I don't know how much time Arwen got in the books, but I would have loved an extra ten minutes in the movie. From what I can recall, Arwen wasn't mentioned once in the book (The Two Towers). Quote
dr_spock Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Saw District 9 for the first time. Found it pretty good. Kind of messy with all the splatters. Quote
kibosh Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Saw Desolation of Smaug as well. I was very entertained beginning to end, but I think I liked the first one better. Some of the water related CGI was bad. It just looked like a white blob moving around. And they took a lot of liberties with the story, but some of it really did flesh out the story. And parts were REALLY condensed. Like the time in Mirkwood was WAY shorter than in the book. Overall, very entertaining. And the dragon was fantastic. Quote

Time restraints are a given in book to movie adaptations. It is a bit unfortunate in some cases, but if they spent more adequate time, we'd probably be 6 movies in by the end of it all. I just got back from The Hobbit as well. I loved it. I liked the addition of Tauriel(gotta feel bad for Legolas...losing out to a dwarf ). I liked the fight scenes with the Elves the most. Smaug looked & sounded fantastic. Edited December 18, 2013 by Legocrazy81 Quote
greeny Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 I saw the Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug. I would give it 9/10. Quote
tomdobs55 Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 I just watched Real Steel...what a ridiculous movie Quote
Mr Breden Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 The Excorsist, I'm not going to sleep until Christmas eve now Quote
TheLegoDr Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Theater: Frozen. It was okay. The redeeming part was the snowman. Plus I love castle related stuff, so was trying to get some good MOC ideas. I think my daughter liked it okay though. DVD: Man of Steel. I finally watched this. I actually really liked it. Much better than the previous reboot. I liked Faora . Way more of a bad megablocks than Zod. So naturally I had to buy all of the figures. I was surprised at the inclusion of Tor-An as a minifigure since I don't even remember him in the movie. Quote
Ultron Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Saw Frozen and loved it! Wish there were a couple more songs in it though. Especially one toward the end would've been nice. It was a very charming movie though! Quote

I haven't seen The Desolation Smaug, but Tauriel does look interesting. Definitely makes me want to buy the Mirkwood spiders set. From what I can recall, Arwen wasn't mentioned once in the book (The Two Towers). Thanks, so now I'm feeling better about the Two Towers. It was such a good movie, the lack of Arwen initially bugged me. I've always loved her character, and now that I know that they elaborated on her character rather than diminishing her overall appearance, I have to say I can't find a thing wrong with it. I'm not surprised they made a minifig for him, I'm just surprised he got a name. I'd expect him to be "Kryptonan soldier" since his name was probably only mentioned once in the movie. But he was that 6 foot tall Kryptonian who fought Superman along with Faora (who is so badass, god I love her) in Smallville. Oh and, saw about 5 minutes worth of Batman begins today, before deciding to log onto a certain Lego website. Quote
CMP Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Desolation of Smaug. I liked it much better the second time around. Quote
CJBERRY Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Saw Desolation of Smaug last week Enjoyed it, but want to see it again to soak it all in, going to wait til the bluray / dvd though, cinema experience was slightly ruined by having a few loud idiots sitting by us Quote
WhiteFang Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Thought I also added mine recent film flicks, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug - Superb and enjoyable! A deserving blockbuster movie and amazing sequel. Frozen - Totally enjoyed the story and music very much. Quote
Leo604 Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Desolation of Smaug earlier tonight; will post thoughts in the movie thread later, but I liked it overall. Quote
