samurai-turtle Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 The last two movies I watch are Justice League: War and then about a week later Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher. Of the two movies I enjoy the Justice League one more. I do have question about the Avengers Confidential movie, near the end who was the blond Avenger (not Hawkeye)? Quote
fred67 Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Maleficent 3D It was a good movie, I really like the whole shape shifting thing Maleficent... not in 3D, but I really liked it. So did the wife and kids (12 & 15). Quote
Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Just watched the Anohana movie. It was definitely amazing and added extra depth to the characters with some additional scenes yet still maintained the tone of the series (by which I mean it was incredibly depressing and tragic). Quote
Palathadric Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 X-Men: Days of Future Past. Quite a lot of inconsistencies, but I still liked the movie overall. Perhaps not quite as much as some of the others, but it was certainly a helluva lot better than the Wolverine. Quote
Actaeon Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Godzilla! Excellent movie! A few minor plot holes, but otherwise, great Quote
Zeya Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 The Grand Budapest Hotel - Fantastic movie. Wes Anderson is by far my favorite director, and he's really outdone himself here. Quote
Kintobor Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 How to Train Your Dragon 2 Perhaps a full blown review isn't the appropriate thing for the time being, but HtTYD2 manages to surpass the original in almost every way. With satisfying character development and a story that manages to pull at a whole lot of emotions, if you were a fan of the original film, How to Train Your Dragon 2 is a film not to miss. What's with Dreamworks and making such excellent second instalments that surpass the original? Shrek 2, Kung-Fu Panda 2, How to Train Your Dragon 2... Quote

I have to disagree with Shrek 2 though. The original was superior IMO Quote
Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 The Lion King. Still undoubtedly one of Disney's best ever films, even 20 years after its original release. Quote
Kez Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Today I watched 22 Jump Street, it was hilarious all the way throughout. I certainly rate it a 10/10, there were scenes that literally had all of the cinema audience on the edge of their seat or in tears due to the funniness of the film. If anyone here intends to watch the film I must tell you to be sure to stay for the end credits, I won't spoil but its a great addition. Quote
Zerobricks Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 The Lion King. Still undoubtedly one of Disney's best ever films, even 20 years after its original release. Yeah its a classic! Ajuna Matata man, akuna matata... Quote
just2good Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Saw HTTYD2, it really is better than the first! A! Quote
samurai-turtle Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 I watched Oblivion & Elysium. Of the two I say Oblivion has the easier plot, to guess what will happen. But, the two films are good science fiction movies to watch. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 I watched Oblivion last week too. It was predictable. But a decent watch. Most recently, watched Catching Fire for a second time. Very entertaining and true to the book. I thought they did a good job with it. Although I'm not the biggest Hunger Games fan, I am more interested in it than I was prior. Quote
Artanis I Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 In the last few days: Jason & the Argonauts (stop motion fx are funny these days) The Grand Budapest Hotel (didn't know what to expect so a few double-blink moments, some good laughs) The Lego Movie (again, and I cried from laughing... again) Ender's Game (excellent modern sci-fi) Prisoners (veeery interesting. Starring Huge Ackman & Donnie Darkonhaal. Did NOT expect the ending.) Quote

This movie is hilarious beginning to end. Quote
Moon_Knight Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Don't know if this applies to this thread but I just finished the Firefly tv series and Serenity for the first time and loved them. Need a new series to watch. Any recommendations? Quote
K-Nut Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Don't know if this applies to this thread but I just finished the Firefly tv series and Serenity for the first time and loved them. Need a new series to watch. Any recommendations? I love that show. The movie is great too. If you liked those, I'd recommend Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Created by the same guy who did Firefly, Serenity, and Avengers. Plus it has a wonderful spin off series, Angel. Back on topic, I recently watched How to Train Your Dragon 2 and 22 Jump Street. Very much enjoyed both films. Definitely recommend both. Quote
Artanis I Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Another list. A few of these were similar to each other in ways. Rollerball - if he was too big for the game for 10 years, why didn't they blackmail him to throw games? Why did it take so long to want him out? Always funny watching a "futuristic" movie where people use rollerskates like that, and the "computers" haha. Mortal Instruments City of Bones - didn't sound like a kids movie, sorta looked like one, turned out to be a teen movie. Demon hunting and "which boy will I choose" (better than Twilight btw, she was useful for starters). Was okay, but I still don't really know which way it went at the end. The Game - Michael Douglas and the audience get taken for a ride. Pleased to say that it wasn't all predictable, I kept changing my mind about what was going on. But the "brother" looked more like a "son" to me. The Machine - thought it was just going to be Robocop or Terminator but it was different enough. Interesting effects. I, Frankenstein - gargoyles vs demons. Underworldish. Brings a bit of spirituality into it. but if he had a soul (and therefore couldn't be possessed), how come he could kill the gargoyle? Robocop (new one) - bit different to the originals, not sure how I feel about it. Samuel MoFo Jackson was annoying. Gary Oldman is a good guy again, I think he's better that way. Quote
Im a brickmaster. Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 I saw Age of Extinction yesterday. Me and my friend were gee king out pretty much the entire time! If you pick one of the four transformers movies to watch, I would see this one. The story is certainly the most interesting and words cannot describe the amount of giant robot badassery that went on! Plus Grimlock and Hound! Ah, it was just really good Quote
Sir Brickalot Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 (edited) Jurassic Park I-III, for the first time But I was actually slightly underwhelmed with JPII, however I did enjoy JPIII. Of course the first one is best. EDIT because The_Chosen_1 sees things I don't. Edited July 10, 2014 by Sir Brickalot Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 ^ Seems as though you're a bit conflicted on "JPII". Quote
just2good Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 I saw TF4, it was fun at points in a stupid way, but it dragged on WAY too long. Not the worst of the four, but not a good film. D. Quote
PenPlays Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Saw Transformers Age of Extinction today. I may just be brave enough to say that it was the best of all of Bay's TF movies to date. I went with a long-time friend/Transformers geek and we were both thoroughly satisfied with it as a whole. There were several nods in the plot that alluded back to many of the older Transformers shows/stories, but if I spoke of them, I would spoil y'all the fun. One of the things that I've always hated about the movies were the humans. Teenage/early adult love that goes nowhere right from the start, i.e. the girl is just there as eye candy. This was the first in which I was, almost literally, rooting for the humans. The father/daughter story worked far better than I ever thought it would. Stanley Tucci made the movie near the end. I was also surprised to see that each of the main robot characters had very unique personalities, unlike the previous movies. Even the older characters showed likeable charm that they didn't have before. Every one of the Autobots (and Lockdown the bounty hunter for that matter) gets a badass scene each for themselves. Each of those moments being unique according to each of the bots personalities. Usually the individuality of the robots can only be found in the TV shows and comics, but this... this fourth movie is what they should have been doing all along. If there were only one Transformers movie you were to see, this is the one! Fantastic! Quote
