And the story took some weird detours, but I get that it was following a comic book plot. Still, I found it an enjoyable watch. But like I said, I went in expecting it to be a steaming pile of crap. It was a few lukewarm turds dressed up really nice. Gorgeous. Especially the opening sequence. I went in with low expectations and still found it enjoyable. I actually liked Cara Delevingne's acting in this, which surprised me. The visuals were great, and it definitely rekindled my love for sci-fi. Quote

I loved the premise and the visuals, and would love to see more of that universe. Quote
Artanis I Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 (edited) Just taking some of that subject a little bit further: (but not specifically that movie or actor) Isn't it interesting how a lot of people have faces that don't show what they're thinking or feeling, and whenever any of these people are actors they are often branded by many as "bad" actors, especially if their demeanor is more dry/deadpan or melancholy than it is sanguine. I think it's a matter of taste. Perhaps those people are a bit one-dimensional in the roles they can play, and perhaps films could've been more interesting or less annoying to the general public with someone else instead. But are they useless/bad/unfunny? Some people think it's funny, others roll their eyes. Edited April 16, 2018 by Artanis I Quote
x105Black Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 That's a good point. Certain people are better in certain roles. An actor may not be great in a particular role, but that doesn't necessarily make them a bad actor. Quote
Digger of Bricks Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 Watched Justice League last night and Wonder Woman about two nights eariler. While Wonder Woman was a fairly fine movie, the choppy editing in Justice League just showed too much to try to ignore. While there's a lot to say about it that probably has been discussed by many already, one of the little things that annoyed the heck out of me was its oversaturated color scheme. I know many people complain about the drab visual aesthetic of most DCEU films so far, but I thought that was some seriously ridiculous overcompensation! Quote
rodiziorobs Posted April 23, 2018 Posted April 23, 2018 Ocean's Thirteen. Not as good as Eleven (only comparing the Clooney one, never seen the Brando), but much better than Twelve. Quote
Digger of Bricks Posted April 23, 2018 Posted April 23, 2018 Could anyone suggest any good DC Animated features worth checking out? Quote

Spoiler Especially when you get to know that Rusty and co were the policemen. A great movie with many surprising points. Twelve is good too, but not as good as eleven. Thirteen relies more on technical gadgets than sophistication, but is still very good. Quote
Digger of Bricks Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 (edited) Two nights ago, I checked out the DC Animated adaptation of Gotham by Gaslight, and found it to be pretty good! It had a fairly well paced story, and dialogue that never seemed cringy at any point. Granted, the animation itself wasn't the greatest, especially during dialogue-centric scenes, but the animation of fight scenes helped make up for that. As for the twist ending, I still don't know how I feel about it, but I certainly didn't see it coming! Edited April 27, 2018 by Digger of Bricks Quote
spiderfan2000 Posted April 28, 2018 Posted April 28, 2018 I saw Avengers: Infinity War in IMAX. I thought it was totally awesome! I wasn't sure how so many characters and plot points could be put into one movie without coming across as rushed, but I thought it was handled really well! Kudos to the Russo Brothers! Quote
Digger of Bricks Posted April 28, 2018 Posted April 28, 2018 Last night, I watched the DC Animated adaptation of Frank Miller's Batman: Year One and the two part adaptation of his other novel The Dark Knight Returns. Quote
rodiziorobs Posted April 29, 2018 Posted April 29, 2018 Earlier this week, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, followed by an evening out with the kids for Peter Rabbit, and last night To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar, because I've always known about it but never seen it, and it's leaving Netflix next week. Admittedly, each of these movies has its share of problems, but I have no regrets about anything. Quote

I'm not saying they are good, but they are entertaining. "Batman and Harley Quinn" is trash. For real. It's like garbage being thrown at your face Quote

And how were they? I went to see Ready Player One. I was surprised by how different it was from the book. I expected differences, but had no idea it would be quite as different as it was. That said, I still enjoyed it. It was a reasonably good adaptation, and overall a good experience. Quote

Another who saw Avengers: Infinity War last night. And I thought the multiple stories where done great. Way better than what was done in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. But enough about that movie and back to Avengers, did anyone else though that the theme music might of been played a little to loud? (Of course I did have a little headache and that might not of help matters out.) Quote

Between the two, I liked the two part adaptation of TDKR more so than Year One, but the latter was still a fairly good film (it was more Gordon's story than it was Batman's I must say). Particularly, what drew me to watch them was the stories' 1980's setting, since movies set during some time other than the present intrigue me more. P.S. I've never fully read either of the two novels before, only excerpts and synopses of both in the past. Quote

Marvel has the reputation for playing it safe with these movies but boy oh boy Infinity War went out the park and kicked some serious megablocks; it warped our expectations in a satisfying way unlike a certain Star Wars movie that came out in 2017. Agreed. Infinity War was unexpected in a much more satisfying way. I loved the ending. Quote
Digger of Bricks Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 Batman: Under the Red Hood and the animated adaptation of Superman/Batman: Public Enemies. I sort of didn't care for Under the Red Hood starting out, primarily because of its generic dialogue, but it got a little better towards the end. As for Public Enemies, it just kinda felt more like an extended, mature episode of the early 2000's Justice League TV show, as opposed to a story that could simply stand on its own. Quote
rodiziorobs Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 Avengers: Age of Ultron. I had ranked it low-ish in the MCU before, but now I think it sank to the bottom. So. Many. Issues. It actually killed some of my enthusiasm for Infinity War. Although I guess for perspective, it was no better or worse than Justice League. Quote

Vindicare Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Infinity War...a few times. Spoiler free explanations, I thought the fights were fantastic, showcasing the Black Order was especially fun to watch. I bled all the comedic moments, I know that’s a sour note to some. Definitely some shocking parts & quite. A few tearful, good & bad, moments. I loved seening all the franchises smush together into one, it was most exciting. Downside...no “facial hair bros” high five... Quote
