Vader Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Anger Managment, superb outings from both jack nicholson and adam sandler. Quote
Sir Norman Ray Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Transformers: Robots in CGI. Boring Teen film which has more adverts then television. "Nokia, clever Japanese stuff. I'm a good guy and a bad guy at the same time rofls." Seriously, I was almost asleep in the cinema until the final what? 20 minutes? And even then we managed to get some American flag waving. "GO US ARMY! LETS GO KILL THESE ROBOTS WITH GRENADE LAUNCHERS!" Seriously, somebody please get me a human body count for that fight. Full Metal Jacket: Awesome as hell. "If he's General Custer, I'm a HORSE!" If old enough and haven't seen it, go see it. NOW. Batman Mask of the Phantasm: Mark Hamil as the Joker, violence, buildings blowing up, what more do I want? "Nope nope nope! I've seen the guy, no where cute as Batsy, he's like the ghost of Christmas past." A blast from the past and then some. Quote
john cleese Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 hanna and her sisters, a hilarious woody allen feature. What can i say he was his usual neurotic self, but it hits the fan. I swear i was rolling in the aisles Woody Allen on! Quote
xwingyoda Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 Finally a great and funny musical: Hairspray :-P It was way better than I thought !! ( *vader* you can go hehehe) !! Great songs, great story and great acting !! Travolta is fantastic in his role !! Really a nice and cheerfull movie ;-) *yoda* Quote
Mr Hobbles Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 The Bourne Ultimatum. Absolutely fantastic. Best one of the three imo, and has pretty much the perfect ending to the series, while still allowing room for the two follow up books to be made into movies. Quote
Sir Norman Ray Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 MASH Ah, the film based on the hit book that would inspire the hit 12 series TV Show. Probably one of the few tributs that exist for the Korean War, despite the director trying to hide its setting. "Fair's fair Henry. If I screw Hotlips and then hit Hawkeye, can I go home too?" Quote
mutley777 Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 Just got back from seeing the fantastic Bourne Ultimatum! A great end to 3 great films! *y* This really is the year of the sequels :-D Quote

Mr Hobbles Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Run, Fat Boy, Run Really really funny feel good movie, with Simon Pegg and Dylan Moran the kings of comedy. Recommended! :-) Quote
Aredhel Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 I have seen Rush Hour 3 yesterday! Movie was ok, not that good in my opinion, but ok for a nice entertainment movie. I am reeeeally waiting for the next cinema year! -Aredhel Quote
yellost Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 I just got my hands on the Ultimate Edition of Pan's Labyrinth. This is one of the best films I have ever seen. I really love Guillermo Del Toro's work *wub* . He has quite a few visual gems. Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 3:10 to Yuma. That movie, in the spirit of Clint Eastwood and spaghetti westerns, has to be one of the best movies I have ever seen. Also, we were watching Dead Poets Society in class today. Robin Williams has a stellar performance, and it is an excellent inspirational movie. Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 "Visitor Q" It's a japanese movie with English subtitles. You'll probably never see it (download it?) unless I spill the beans on the movie, so be warned, I'm doing so. In short, A dysfunctional family meets up with a strange man who makes them "normal" by making them first even MORE messed up. The kid gets picked on at school, so he beats his mother...violently. The father is too busy trying to make ends meet, while fighting his own homosexual desires. Both parents just let themselves be hurt, for they are miserable. Strange man appears, clocks father in head with a large rock. On way home, he sneaks up on him and smashes his skull AGAIN. But instead of getting help, he (APPARENTLY?) takes him home to dinner! LOL He seduces / rapes the boy. Teaches the mom how to squirt milk. And aids the husband by videotaping (validating) him murdering a whore he's been sleeping with. Mom and Dad have a nervous breakdown of sorts, getting close to each other as they DISSECT the dead body. The boy crashes as well, but then realizes that the stranger came to FIX their family by "normalizing" their dysfunctional family attributes TOO much until it was ridiculous for even them. The son's attackers return in broad daylight at the house to start a fire / beat him up, but mom and dad go ninja and kill them too, gaining the respect of the son. Soon after leaving, the stranger recognizes their runaway daughter (from pictures in her old room) who's now whoring herself out... and he clocks HER in the head with a rock too lol. She saunters home, bloody, and sees her younger brother regressed into a baby, suckling mom out in the garden... and then she smiles, followed by joining him on her mother's other side. In short, the stranger reset the family back to the point that the children were first born, as if their 10+ years of insanity had never happened. Lotsa' sex, a bit of violence here and there... but there's also comedy goin' on too... however abstract. It should be more disturbing than it is, but the nonchalant attitudes tossed around the dinner table as mom goes crashing through rice paper walls screaming somehow buffered it. It's a good watch, if at least once. Quote
yellost Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 I've seen Visitor Q a while ago... That was a really wierd piece of work. I picked it up not having a single idea what it was about (I was in some sort of Japanese cinema frenzy at the time...). But I couldn't watch it in one sitting... Some of the scenes were so bizarre I had to take a break... Somehow I can't help comparing it to Requiem for a Dream (even though niether the pace nor the tone of the films are similar)... Quote
Aredhel Posted September 15, 2007 Posted September 15, 2007 I watched "the Green Mile" again yesterday evening. Thats such impressing movie, and soo sad :'-( -Aredhel Quote

JoeMI6 Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 I watched serenity last night. I haven't seen any of the TV show its based on, but i liked the movie. 3.5/5 *y* If that's the case, then you should definitely check out firefly. It's an awesome TV show. Last movie I watched - Shawshank Redemption. Touching and inspiring - Everyone should see it! Quote
Mr Hobbles Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 One more vote for Firefly here! This past week I've been to the cinema twice. I saw: Atonement Good movie, but very confused. Can't figure out what type of movie it's meant to be. But generally good. 3:10 to Yuma Surprisingly, very good! I've never really been a fan of westerns but I really liked this. Gonna be a DVD purchase for me I think! Heading to see Shoot Em' Up tonight and then Elizabeth on Thursday. :-) Quote
yellost Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 (edited) +1 for Firefly here as well. If you've liked the film without having seen the serie, you have to watch it again after the serie. You'll definitely give it a 6 out of 5 (if not a 7 :-P ) I've just seen Sunshine... I was really disappointed... Maybe I expected too much from it but still... it's been too long since I've seen a good Sci Fi film... :'-( And I saw "the condemned", too... One really has to turn off his brain before looking at it... Or he'll end up wondering what the hell he's been wasting his 2 hours time for... pointless, really... :-D Edited September 24, 2007 by yellost Quote
Brainbox Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 I watched The Naked Gun last night. And no, it's not what you think ;-) It was really funny all the way through. Well, it was bound to be- it's Police Squad, and it's from the makers of Airplane!. What more can you ask for? Quote
