Brickmaster Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Saw SpiderMan 2, in honor of just seeing SpiderMan 3 abit ago :-$ I'm tempted to watch them both again, I like em :-$ Quote
yellost Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 I saw "The Mist", recently. I was really surprised to find it so good. I expected it to be entertaining but nothing more, so I put it on to have some background noise while working for school but I ended up so cought in it that I didn't do much work... X-D Quote
Brickadier General Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 10,000BC The storyline was too simple, and the ending was a little too unclimatic, but other then that it was really good. It also had some of the best visual effects I've ever seen! I could of sworn I saw real Mammoths on the screen! 8- Quote
Christian Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 I saw the danish movie "to verdener" (aka "Worlds apart") two days ago. The movie is about a girl from Jehova's witnesses who has to make a choice between her new boyfriend and her religion and family. I was rather surprised by this movie, as I had not really expected much. Definitley worth a watch! Quote

Tacitus Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 I seem to have watched more movies in the last two weeks than I have in several months. No Country for Old Men, which I thought was beautiful...and it was a movie that I kept thinking about days later, which makes it all the better. Curse of the Black Scorpion. I may have the title incorrect. It was a Chinese cinema movie in line with Crouching Tiger. Just as gorgeous to look at, but not as interesting. Think of it as a Imperial version of Hamlet. 3:10 to Yuma. Very Good, if not predictable. Nobody shaves in the Wild West. Or bathes. Darjeeling Limited. It was very much in line with the director's previous films. So, it was good. I could have done without the "poignant" classic rock, and the overdone slow motion shots, but that's Wes Anderson's style, I suppose. Oh, and I just saw Hitman, which in theory is really a stupid movie, but I thought it totally rocked. Tacitus. Quote
Piranha Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 (edited) The last movies I saw were: Jumper- at first I thought it was going to be stupid, but I really enjoyed watching it *y* Being able to teleport would be so useful! Casino Royale- I didn't get the plot at all, but the action sequences were good It wasn't as technology advanced as the previous James Bond films nor as great as them Night at the Museum- I really enjoyed this one, quite funny and a cast of film stars! Madagascar- Again I thought it was going to be stupid, but wasn't all that bad Some parts were very funny! Edited March 18, 2008 by Piranha Quote
Zarkan Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 (edited) Madagascar- Again I thought it was going to be stupid, but wasn't all that badSome parts were very funny! Eh, I hated it. Besides the fact that it relied so much on references to other movies for the humor, some of the characters were really annoying (zebra anyone?) and there wasn't really any character development at all - just a recuring gag for each of the characters (giraffe = medicine obsessed, for example). *sad* Eh, I'm still waiting for Dreamworks to make a movie that I laugh at. :-/ I'm not counting the claymation movies - which are awesome - because they were made by a sub studio owned by Dreamworks, so they weren't direct creations of Dreamworks. I'd love to see more from them. *sweet* Anyway, yesterday we rented Spiderman 3. Like the first time, I fully enjoyed it. Despite a cliffhanger with Peter Parker and Mary Jane's relationship, plus sligtly less time to develop Sandman and Venom than I wanted, it still was a great movie. ;-) Funny, while many refer to the love story part of the spiderman movies as chick flick stuff, it's always been a part of the comics since day one, and I quite enjoy it. It really gives a personal side of the characters that you can't quite get as well when Spiderman is bashing baddies. :-) Edited March 22, 2008 by Grevious Quote
casewindu Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 I angree on your taste for madagascar there Grevious really stupid film! Anywho I watched midnight cowboy, really good film with traces of comedy and emotional aswell. The director developed the characters beautifully! *y* Quote
Brickmaster Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 plus sligtly less time to develop Sandman and Venom than I wanted I felt this way too, could've used abit more, but still a great movie, just kinda jumped from that one guy becoming venom, both teaming up, then to the final battle. But it was still a great watch. I loved Peter as Emo-Parker :-D My new haircut kinda reminded me of his due then :-P Last night I watched Oceans 13. It was a pretty good watch. Afterwards I watched George Carlin standup - And that man is a genius Quote
The Kid Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 For whatever reason I was roped into watching Meet The Spartans. And yeah, that's 2 hours of my life I'll never get back. Seriously. DON'T WATCH IT. Read ANY review and you'll see what I'm talking about. It was appallingly bad. So yeah, after that I watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail - the contrast between the two films was outstanding. :-P And earlier tonight I watched Knocked Up. It was good, but not as good as the reviews made it out to be. TK Quote

Batbrick Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 (edited) Are you joking, i loved meet the spartans although the real movie was better.. Oh please tell me you're joking :-X I watched The Lion King and Futurama: Bender's Big Score. The Lion King is of course a great movie, great songs too, but I can't escape the feeling it is overrated. Not in the sense that it is bad, it is a classic, but I feel some people rank it far too high. Bender's Big Score, Futurama's comeback and it isn't very pretty. Funny in places, but the plot moves so slow it is almost non-existent at certain points. Random cameos are given out like self help brochures, and it seems like the writers were trying so hard to stretch it out to movie length they didn't realise the storyline wasn't nearly epic enough. That aside, it was enjoyable, so it was good but nothing great. To the Batbrick Cave! >:-) Edited March 23, 2008 by Batbrick Quote
ExoBuilder Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Today I got the honor of seeing Horton hears a who with my friends. It was a good movie, I was surprised at that. The plot was decent, there was more humor then a good story though. Though I was a little distracted, can you guess why? :-D Quote
Dragonator Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 I watched a cool fantasy style film called Stardust which was great. I didn't know if I would like it at first, but it had a good story line, and some scenes that would look awesome in Lego! X-D Quote
