I watched Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark on television last night. Man! These are good movies!!! I have never seen them before... Next week they'll show Temple of Doom and the next next week the third. This is super!

Hopefully I will go to the cinema tonight to see Iron Man. There is a small chance. :classic:

Saw Iron Man tonight. Best superhero movie ever. It was just... brilliant. Great blend and balance of action, serious acting (which was very good) and comedy. The actors chosen did an amazing job.

I haven't seen it, but it sounds like you're praising it for the same reasons I loved the spiderman movie series so much, especially the very first. That has to be a good thing.

I have to agree with everything Lord Thrawn is saying. Iron Man was just astoundingly good, and there was barely any crappy romance plots thrown in for the sake of it  - 5 Star film, see it ASAP :classic:

Iron Man sounds good then, I look forward to it. I never liked the Spiderman films much, problems with the script for me, but this sounds great, I hope it is Marvel's Bamtna Begins, or better!

Though I won't accept any praises of it being "flawless"

Now, this is something I don't understand. The romance plots in the Spiderman are not just thrown in for the sake of it - it's common knowledge that romance has always been a strong element of the Spiderman comics. Sure, not as much as the main story and villians, but still a major element. It's not just chick flick stuff - it's comic acurate. :sceptic:

Now THIS made me laugh! If the spiderman movies (particularly the horrid third one) were comics accurate Gwen Stacy would have come before Mary Jane and be killed by goblin at the bridge, Sandman wouldn't be able to fly, Venom would refer to himself as "we" and wouldn't die in ten minutes, and Doc Ock would be naturally evil instead of being controlled by his robot arms  Not to say they aren't great movies (with the exception of 3 of course, that was bad), and I do enjoy watching them.

Recently I watched "Robots", it's alright but suffers from major plothole syndrome and formula standard.

Speed Racer!

It deserved more credit, though. I generally hate CGI, but I have to admit that the effects were incredible. Very colourful, flashy, fast-paced and fun. I loved the futuristic-japenese feel to everything.

Iron Man

It was pretty good, with a decent plot

The suit was pretty sweet when it was finalized

However there were barely any action scenes and I was quite disappointed about it

Plus the ending was pretty lame

"I AM IRON MAN!"

I hope to see Speed Racer® pretty soon

...what Batbrick said. And who says I was referring to Spiderman?

I just came back from watching Iron Man.

A brilliant film.

I forced my friend to stay through the credits so we could see the extra scene

with Nick Fury in it. (Played by the wonderful Samuel L Jackson)

Er, you took me too seriously and literally. I was saying that only in regards to there being romance in the spiderman movies at all, not about the actual plot. I know how the spiderman movies took so many elements and changed them - I was just using a really general statement.

I just saw Going Green, it was advertised as a comedy but it was really more of one of those down to earth life moment movies, it was actually pretty good though.

Nah, fair enough, I was only stirring you though, no offense taken I hope :sweet:

And I watched Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade with my father, we love that movie. He fell asleep in the last ten minutes though!

None taken. I've learned that joking around is a crucial element of the eurobricks spirit. Why else do we have silly titles?

Er, funny, I haven't watched a movie for a few weeks. :look: I think we're going to be going to both Indy 4 and Prince Caspian though.

I saw "Haunted Forest" yesterday... Even the title is shit... I mean, what the megabluck, "Haunted Forest" ??? :hmpf: "Shitty Garbage" would have been more suitable.

Now that I'm done whining about the title, I'll move on to the rest of the movie. Yes there will be spoilers, but who cares? It sucked so incredibly much that you need to seriously braindamaged to watch it. (the irony)

So, there's this nerd guy that's photographing some crap in the woods, but suddenly dies. Some other guys come to find a "Secret burial ground" (CLICHÉ ALERT, WEOWEOWEO). Of course the protagonist had a grandfather that was an indian with a rather interesting life story.... :hmpf: How friggin original...

So, the bad guy is OF COURSE a girl, painted white, with black, messy hair all over her and a white bedsheet for clothing. Oooh, scary. And original. Gee.

So, thing is, all the guys are hunted down, one by one, they meet two girls which also eventually get hunted down and made into compost. Guess what? The potsmoking guy dies first. And after him it's the guy with the accent. :hmpf: And then the asian chick that's drinking some psychedelic tea. When the chick sees this goth-ish girl crap and tells her friend, she blames the tea. No duh. :hmpf:

And of course the car ran out of gas... :hmpf: :hmpf: :hmpf:

So, everybody eventually gets hunted down, the indian was of course last. In the end there was this really stupid and weirdo scene where he was rather intimate with his dead grandmother (which was rather sexy for being compost the last 100 years) which results in a blood bath...

Guess the last line in the movie? You guessed right. "nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo". :hmpf:

Of course the girl that was sitting half an inch inch to the left of me (only reason I saw it  ) panicked and hit me in the face with her elbow TWICE during the movie.. Ouch..

DON'T watch that movie. Please.

Speed Racer was amazing.

Speed Racer has to be one of the most unfairly criticised films in recent memory. It's a real shame it tanked at the box office. Critics hated it as well. But I'd really suggest you go see it. Not only does it have the best action sequences that you're ever likely to see, it actually has a very well told story and genuine heart. It's not an exaggeration to say that this film was groundbreaking.

Obviously the thing that first draws you into this film is the visuals. If these screenshots don't appeal to you, then I suggest you don't see the film at all, because the whole film looks like this. For those of you who love the style though, this film is a visual treat.

Obviously the Wachowskis weren't going for realism. This is like a live action anime, with everything from the colours to the "talking head" scene transitions. The film stays true to the spirit of the cartoon, with silly humour and campy acting. But this all adds to the fun.

What immediatly strikes you about the film (other than the colours!) is the story. From the opening scene, in which the Wachowskis incorperate numerous flashbacks, we see the story of Speed's older brother Rex. This is genuinly heartwarming, and it seems the critics completed missed this amongst the bright colours and flashy editing.

The action sequences are incredible. There are four races in this film, as well as two fight scenes, each as incredible as the last.

VERDICT:

*****

Unless you're alergic to bright colours and fast editing, see this movie. Ignore the critics. Ignore the box office. See it for yourself and make up your own mind. It's like nothing you've seen before. You won't be disappointed.

Iron Man. As others have said, a fantastic movie. Not perfect by any means, but fantastic. A few criticisms include the very brief appearance of Iron Monger and the rather weak climax, and the pace once Iron Man is set goes a tad iffy. Apart from that, brilliant, I look forward to the sequel.

I just got back from the movies with my girlfriend and I managed to catch this movie. Trust me, sam89 is right. Watch it for yourself to determine whether this movie is good. To me, my only complaint is that the visual image is running too fast and I can't see it clearly with so much bright colors. Nevertheless, the plot and the cars are tasty. Overall, most importantly, after viewing the movie, I start to relate myself to the Speed Racers set. Clearly, it looks much better in my mind now!

Woooshhhhhhhhhhhh
