I watched Prince Caspian at Tasmania's giant CMax screens. A fantastic movie with great battle scenes and following pretty faithfully to the book (I've read a few). The only things I disliked were some repetitive dialogue ("Oh shutup" and "You'd better come quick" must have been used like 4 times each) and some rather out-of-place moments, but overall it was a worthy sequel and better than the first.

I laso watched the two James Bond films The Living Daylights and The Spy Who Loved Me. The latter is a classic, Jaws is an incredible henchman, and the former is very underrated, with a complex plot and a very realistic bond girl. Kara is actually one of my favourite Bond girls, most likely because she is more "real" than the others, and not the cliche tough girl who becomes a whore to Bond in the lkast five minutes. She is pretty naive but has her morals and stands for what she believes in. That, and I have a real thing for women with short blonde hair that sways with their every movement

I was a little disappointed that it ended when it did, though maybe we’ll get a sequel of conquering the world.

Well, I haven't seen the movie, but I read a review in a news magazine that said that the director wants to make a trilogy. :classic:

Licence to Kill- Great and very underrated 07 movie, I love the idae of James Bond losing his licence to kill and going on a revenge mission for his friend. The tanker chase at the end is fantastic.

Goldeneye- Another brilliand Bond movie, Brosnan does a great turn as 007, and the villain is one of my favourites. Excellent dialogue, and does a great examination of Bond's character without removing the essentials.

Fracture- A very cool psychological movie starring Anthony Hopkins as yet another homicidal psycho who kills his wife. He is a brilliant man and has executed the murder so intelligently that he represents himself in court and still looks to win. A lawyer who opposes him goes to great lenghts to stop him. This is a slow movie but exciting nonetheless, the ending and its irony is simply prefect.

Sweeney Todd- Wonderful macabre film with great singing. The story is simple enough but pulls you in, and the ending is greay. One gripe is that the message of the original play and novel (a tale paralleling man's attitude to each other in a dog eat dog world) has been diluted somewhat. I wasn't surprised though, Tim Burton is a great director but his strength is in his visual flair, themes and messages were never his strong suit.

Stranger than Fiction- A rather slow movie, but it gets more interesting as it goes. Will Ferell does a fantastic job as the serious and plain Harold Crick who starts hearing a woman narrate his life and foreshadowing his death. The humour in it may get some (like me) but not others, but overall I found it a unique and likeable film.

Last night, I watched Hulk. This movie is seriously a great improvement from the previous production. In fact, the past movie really short change Hulk. This movie packs a punch to the audience. Although, the plot progress a little too fast and unrealistic, but the movie effects certainly impress you very much especially the last fighting scene. If you are a Marvel fan, don't miss this movie. And of course, for the ending, you will be very surprised if you are Ironman fan.

Iron Man. That was an awesome ride. The special effects were some of the best I've ever seen, and the storyline was excellent. I only wish the ending hadn't been so abrupt and "now you have to wait for the sequel" like, but that was only a minor problem.

My favorite part had to be when the tank fired a shot at Iron Man, and he just dodged it - and then he fired his own mini missile. Then he just walks away casualy as the tank blows up into scrap metal.

28 Days Later

Tomorrow Never Dies

Octopussy

The latter two are James bond films, Tomorrow being a cool Pierce Brosnan second outing (though not as cool as Goldeneye) and the latter being a weaker offering from Roger Moore.

28 Days Later was a rather neat twist on the zombie film shot on a fairly low budget by Danny Boyle, going ot see the sequel soon.

But... it had an actual remote control car.

Then again, Goldeneye had a tank...

Yesterday I watched the one and only Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. Man, none of the other movies quite compare to the original. This is easily one of Spielberg and Lucas's greatest projects, complete with wonderful (but not over the top) special effects, memorable characters, and a really cool storyline.

Today I'll be watching Temple of Doom, and tomorow the Last Crusade. Indy on! :classic:

Watched Temple of Doom this afternoon. Yeesh - this is easily the worst of the Indy movies, hands down. It just didn't click at all, for more than a few reasons:

- Number one reason - it's too dark for an Indy movie. This whole plot idea about a sacrificial cult that rips hearts out, lowers people into lava, and beats children working in slave mines really contrasts with the lighter parts of the movie - like Short Round and the first few scenes of the movie.

- Wille is so annoying. All she does is scream, and she's supposed to be the source of the majority of the comedy in this movie. It's just like Jar Jar Binks - so annoying that George Lucas thought she would be hilarious! :hmpf::grin:

- The movie is way too slow and boring in parts. The parts in the Indian village were really boring, and I thought the first scene with the cult would never end. Heh, what do you know - that was my least favorite scene! :hmpf_bad:

- No puzzle solving or searching for treasure. Oh sure, there was the sacred power stones, but they played such a minor role. Plus, all three of the other movies (especially Last Crusade) had Indy solving puzzles in some ancient temple home only to scary creatures or a mysterious guardian. Temple of Doom? Nope, nothing, nadda.

Overall, the only things I like about Temple of Doom are Short Round (who is really a cute kid and pretty funny), and a few scenes like the Mine Cart race and the gross banquet. Well, now that I've watched it during my marathon of Indy movies, I never have to watch it again! :sweet::wink:

Watched Wild Wild West yesterday evening. And tomorrow, in the afternoon, I'll go see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull as celebration of the end of the schoolyear.:thumbup:

Watched Cloverfield last week. It loses a bit of it's sheer awesomeness (is that a word?) on the small screen, but it's still one of the best movies I've ever seen.

Also watched School of Rock last night. Picked this up on DVD for £4 last week; a very good deal. I'd watched it a few months back on TV, but it's still just as good second time round. Enjoyable film, and Jack Black puts in a good performance.

Okay, so this afternoon I watched Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It was fantastic! Everybody said the aliens were stupid, and there fore: the films loses some 'coolness points', but I liked the aliens. It's just another twist to the whole serie, and in my eyes, it worked very nice. The special effects were also great. And just how they put the storyline together with some great scenes... Awesome! Now I'm singing the tune and using my invisible whip to ... to whip everything!

And Hancock seems very interesting! =)

Yesterday Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, completing my Indy movie marathon. Now, unlike the aformentioned crudfest Temple of Doom, Last Crusade shows the way to make a great sequel to Indiana Jones. The special effects are great without being too gory or over the top, the characters are interesting, and it's fairly lighthearted. Oh, and there's plenty of puzzles, traps, and Nazi-busting action too.

I really love Indy's father - he's easily my second favorite character, next to Indy of course. Elsa... eh, not very memorable, but at least she wasn't annoying like Wille. You really can't beat Marion though, which is why I'm glad she was back in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. :classic:

And Hancock seems very interesting! =)

I like Will Smith a lot, so I agree with this. I don't think he's made a movie that hasn't at least been half decent, and many of them - like Men in Black, The Pursuit of Happiness, and I am Legend were great.

and I am Legend

What a coincidence! My sister's boyfriend and I just watched that film (and then Top Gear!) and I must say I still hate it as much as I did before. Great during day and to night begins the crappiest special effects since Plan9. I mean, why even use CGI AT ALL? Seriously, what idiot film makers they must be when a simple makeup job on actors were all that was needed, it totally wipes any suspense off the face of the earth. And don't get me started on the ending, how stupid compared to the book, just a cliche "Happy Ending!" from Hollywood , and the whole "I must sacrifice myself for the good of humanity!"

Er, Top Gear was good though, they made a car into a rocket

Went to see The Incredible Hulk the other day. Actually, I went to see the afternoon showing, but my card wouldn't read in the machine (the banks fault apparantly), so I had to go back later with some cash. Luckily, my sister was going out with her friends at the same time (I think they saw The Happening), so it worked out okay as I got a lift.

Anyway, when I eventually got into the film, I quite enjoyed it. I'm loving the in-jokes and referrences that this and Iron Man had, as they really appeal to fanboys like me. It's great how they're building towards a big cross-over film. The Hulk/Abomination fight at the end was impossibly cool as well, and it was nice to see both of the main aspects of the Hulk (Hulk, Banner) treated properly.

Recently I've seen three films:

Indy 4: Very enjoyable, but the last 20 minutes were a massive letdown. But apart from that I thought it was very good.

The Incredible Hulk: Not bad, but not a patch on Iron Man. For some reason left me a bit unfulfilled. Ed Norton was good, but he wasn't given much to work with. I liked the tie in with Iron Man at the end though.

In Bruges: Best film I've seen this year so far. Period. Such an unusual story coupled with awesome acting and characters which you actually felt for. I think I actually shed a tear during it!

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. After watching it again, I've decided it's my favorite Indy movie. I just love Willie and Short Round!

So my hierarchy of the Indy movies would be:

1. Temple of Doom

2. Raiders of the Lost Ark

3. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

4. Last Crusade

Or not. But seriously, you like Doom that much? I can at least understand liking it, but loving it over Last Crusade and RAIDERS? Sorry for my confusion - but I don't really get that.

Watched the 60s Batman film tonight. The concluding episode of a three-parter from the series was on earlier, and I was in a Bat-mood. Love it, absolutely love it. Plus, it's given me a few ideas for stuff to put in Bat-MOC 4...

Favourite line? Alfred's exclamation of surprise/horror: "Bless my dustpan!"

We usually watch a lot of movies, so instead of just one I have a list of movies that I've seen over the last week.

-Jumper, WTH is up with Samuel L. Jackson's hair?! :hmpf:

-Teen Wolf, nothing spectacular but it was alright.

-Big, a definite classic!

-The Nightmare Before Christmas, one of Tim Burtons greatest achievements.

-The Terminator, classic '80's special effects=laughs all around.

-Edward Scissorhands, a great film anyway you put it.

-Corpse Bride, good but not great.

-Wall-E, an instant classic with a great message for everybody.

-Be Kind Rewind, simply hilarious.

That's about it.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian has finally found its way to Norway, watched it tonight. It was quite nice, decent entertainment. A bit obvious at times, even though I haven't read the book. But still, worth seeing I think.
