Saw TDK (had to wait in line for an HOUR), and, well, I've discovered why the Joker is "unkillable"-multiple origins! I don't agree with what they did with Dent - I mean, he's a major character! (not turning into a villian, but what happens...in the end)

WALL-E: Decidedly underwhelming and perhaps even disappointing. While I loved the concept and theme I thought it was quite poorly executed. The first thirty minutes of the movie were brilliant, but I didn't care for the rest.

Gonna go see The Dark Night on either Thursday or Friday. WALL-E was rated highly and disappointed me, I hope The Dark Knight doesn't.

THE DARK KNIGHT!

Oh. My. Goodness. This is definitely the best summer flick of the year BAR NONE! I saw it last night on opening day, and gosh I can't stop thinking about it.

Heath Ledger was simply perfect as the Joker, a menacing villain completely opposite to Batman who is both charismatic, hilarious, crazy and yet totally scary. His plan is amazingly evil, topping Ra's one in BB as he is not simply destroying a city, but turning it rotten. No seriuosly, this is easily one of the best movie villains ever, a billion times better than Jack Nicholson playing Jack Nicholson in the 89 movie. Aaron Eckhart is brilliant as District Attorney Harvey Dent, who is both very likeable and admirable, yet still succeeds in having a three dimensional character. His turn near the end is one of the saddest things. Christian Bale has improved upon his Batman since BB, he still manages to be the main character in the film, a torn man who must come to realise his presence will inspire good, but also evil. Gary Oldman reprises his role as Gordon, one that is far more challenged this time around with shocking events surrounding him. Maggie Gyllaenhaal is far better than Katie Holmes as Rachel Dawes, this time around her character is given far more depth and sadness. Morgan Freeman also comes back as techno wiz Lucius Fox and Cillian Murphy reprises the Scarecrow in a brief scene that may just be one of my favourite cameos ever.

As for the story, I plan on this review being spoiler free, but let me just say this movie is DARK. No seriously, if you thought BB was dark you were wrong, TDK makes that movie look like Alvin and the Chipmunks. Do NOT take young kids to see this film, there are moments with so much tension and suspense that even I found it hard to look at the screen. This is no Spiderman, this is almost no Superhero film, as Nolan the director has stated this is an epic crime drama like the comics, with metaphors, foreshadowing and themes present throughout. Not just the Joker is dark either, but Harvey Dent's story (the TRUE backbone of the film) ends in a very nasty place.

The action has stepped up too, with brilliant camera work that is much easier to see now. The Batpod chase sequence is superb, with so many wonderful toys and tricks up both Batman's and the Joker's sleeves. But the real best part in terms of epicness and sheer heroism is the final confrontation with the Joker as thousands of lives hang in the balance, with a very cruel and ironic play from the Joker to fool the police.

Overall this movie may well be my favourite of the year, a fantastic look into why we need heroes and if we need them at all, and a dark and amazing journey and change in the lives of all characters involved. I give it 5/5, not only the best superhero movie ever, but a mesmerising one against all mediums.

Batbrick Away!

I agree with that too. Easily THE great summer movie. Great acting throughout. And I definately agree on the notion that the movie is not for kids. I mean, when I was 4, I remember watching a movie called, "The monster in the closet", which scared me a lot, and this is 10000x worse, I mean Two-Face's scarred face is proof of that.

Yesterday I saw Mamma Mia! at the cinema, with my 'mamma'. It's my new favourite film!

I love ABBA music anyway, so the songs I liked. The singing was very good (except Pierce Brosnan :hmpf: ), and Meryl Streep singing sounded very similar to the ladies of ABBA.

The storyline was great, and I loved the humour... Julie Walters was very funny and the Dancing Queen scene was amusing. Best of all, I didn't get bored at any time in the film! I love it!

I'm going to see The Dark Knight at some point, as I'm a Batfan, though I don't think it could top Mamma Mia!

I saw the Dark Knight as well. It might not be the best movie ever, but it's very good!

I also saw Gotham Knight before I went to see the other. It was alright, I guess, considering the fact that it's anime, which I am usually not a big fan of. Some of the stories were kinda cool, and Batsy kicked quite some butt at times, but as in all anime, everything could have been a little less slow. :sadnew:

So, The Dark Knight has found its way to Norway too, and yes, I agree with just about everyone else here, it's very good. Not "#1 on IMDB" good, but still, very good. Best 2008 movie so far. The Joker was simply excellent, easily my favourite character of the movie. "I want my phone call!" Ooops, bad idea  And to warm up I saw Batman Begins yesterday, which is also a good movie, but The Dark Knight is better.

Aladdin disney movie. Quite enjoyable really, though I found that each Disney movie is practically the same on closer inspection:

1) The male hero is always young and has a fairly high voice.

2) the girl is most often trapped in some situation or another which the boy can free up.

3) The most annoying one, the villain is always the most obvious villain ever, with a dark look, snakey eyes, low sophisticated voice and an onslaught of "It'll be a killing your sire" puns. He is also most of the time very close to the leader of blah blah nation leader and no one knows he is evil.

Like I said though, rather enjoyable.

Well, after a long wait, I FINALLY got to see The Dark Knight. And wow, it was just incredible. This movie really has rewritten the superhero movie genere, and it has the potential to forever stand as the greatest comic book movie EVER.

One stunning part was how evil the Joker really was. I must say that Darth Vader, Green Goblin, Lex Luthor, and practically every villian ever really have nothing on this version of the crazed clown. He is the ultimate villian - a man who kills for the sake of killing, laughing all the way. At the same time, it was so great to see how people stood up to the Joker, and literally slapped evil in the face. The scene on the ferry, where the prisoner threw the detonator out the window, was extremely moving.

Also, Batman now is really my favorite superhero ever. It was so sad to see how Batman gave up his public appearance in order to save all the work Harvey Dent did before his transformation, but at the same time it was so satisfying. Batman is so selfless in this movie, and his sacrifice may be one of the most powerful movie endings ever.

So, overall, I was amazed. This is simply one of the best movies I've ever seen, and virtually flawless in its execution. I only really have one question: how is Christopher Nolan going to top this in the third movie? :look::wink:

I just saw The Mummy 3: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor yesterday. I wasted a good $10 on the movie ticket. I should've saved the money to see Pineapple Express. The Mummy 3 is disappointing, but expected. I went in there expecting to be disappointed, I just thought that AT THE VERY LEAST they would've made it better than the first 2. How wrong I was. The first Mummy movie still turns out to be the best.

Save your money if you don't want to see cheap CGI, and plot-less nonsense.

Shame though, the actors are really good, it's just, the material the have to work with restricts them so much. I like watching Brendan Fraser movies, Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D was awesome. It's just, this movie is just plain boring, it's a waste of big talent.

I remember how the first Mummy was borderline horror. This new one wouldn't even scare 6 year olds.

I think it was ähhhh :look: TDK in America. I was visiting my uncle,so I could see it before starts in Germany :sweet:

I think it is the best Batman movie ever. I like the joker ^^

Pineapple Express. Drop-dead HILARIOUS! Seth Rogen (fellow canuckle head) is just the right person to fill the comedy void left by Bernie Mac (RIP). Anyways, James France proved that he could play a funny guy and not just some edgy Spiderman character.

Wow that pretty much took the words out of my mouth...

Anyway a couple of nights back I saw "The Dark Night" and it was bloody awsome :thumbup::thumbup: I really loved it!!!! Heath Leger was absolutely incredible  The whole plot was just beautifully set out!

And today I watched Batman Forever, it wasnt as good as the Dark Night but it was alright bit corny in some parts thogh :sceptic: but still enjoyable  Btw howcome there is a different story to how Harvy became 2face?

Keep reading but there is a spoiler..

Also I dont think this will be the last we see 2face because I saw Bat man forever today and that is how Robin becomes who he is and etc.

Star Wars the Clone Wars. :classic:

The movie is all about saving Rotta the Hutt.

Correction, Huttlett. I saw it too, it was good, but could have been longer. Oh well, at least there is the series. :classic:

LOL  . Anyway some of the clone troopers are foolish but some are brave.

The Clone Wars :cry_happy::thumbup: .

Actually I really like the film, it really seems like Star Wars even if it abuse of the comedy at some points :laugh: .

So here are my points because I like this movie:

- It is fun and the comedy is cool anyway so at least it was enjoyable.

- The story is cool and we need to look at it like a TV serie episode more than like a movie :sweet: .

- The character of Asajj Ventress is really cool and surely better than in the old CW series  .

- I think Rotta is funny :wacko::laugh: .

- The vehicles really look good and leave open possibilities for some very cool new sets :sweet: .

So, I finish with the good things so let continue with annoying things  :

- Ziro is really a flaw in this movie, even if he is a "gangster", he ever can be like our good friend Jabba  .

- Fox barely said two words or appear at least 20 seconds in the film :cry_sad: .

- The film starts with a scene-like begin than the classic "letters" roll down the screen.

This is all the things that annoy me in the movie so at the end is pretty good and enjoyable like a film  .

I saw Wall-E! What a fantastic film =D. Being the Disney nut that I am, I had to go and see the next true Pixar film =P. It was definitely worth it.

With very little speech, it excelled in artistic effect, and there was so much charm and uniquity, it was immensely enjoyable. Highly recomended from moi haha.

That was annoying, like that one guy who went up, punched a battle droid, and broke his fist. Haven't they spent their whole lives training for battle? :sceptic:

The intro at the start was pretty wierd... and then a lot of the speech seemed unneccesary or cheesy. If it was just the clones... :cry_happy:

I recently finished watching Princess Mononoke. It is the first Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli film I have seen and I was really impressed. The animation and storyline was superb in my opinion. I am really looking forward to watching some of his other films.
