Oh, and Sam Worthington is now the most badass person alive (F%$k you, Chuck), after this and his stunning performance in T4.

It was really nice knowing you, Thok. May he be merciful, though I doubt it.

Journey to the Center of the Earth: It was pretty bad. First off, I don't care how good The Mummy was, Brendan Fraiser sucks. His acting is so cheesy, and the basic parts that he usually gets are "act like a complete idiot, try to act like a gentleman, and beat up anything in your path, even if it's a dinosaur or death itself". :hmpf: Then, the relationship between Fraiser and the kid was so fast to turn from typical teenager-to-stranger to loving-father-and-son that it happened in literally the first five minutes. Some of the animation was good, but there were parts when the CGI really sucked. Dialogue sucked, blah blah blah... I do have to admit that the underground world was created beautifully, but other than that...

I'll update this post with Layer Cake once I'm done.

I saw the new Sherlock Holmes movie over the weekend. I thought it was entertaining. I have only ever read 1 Holmes story (and it was fairly short) so I can't really compare it to the written fiction. Holmes was good at deduction (though a lot of it was the "we'll wait to the end to reveal anythng" type of deduction that some people may feel is kind of cheap). There were bits and pieces here and there that I figured out before the big reveal and

you should be able to figure out that the "mysterious figure" is Moriarty well before the reveal

. Watson was a dependable character and not a bumbling fool. You could actually believe he was a soldier and doctor even if Holmes had a better knack for detective work (though Watson wasn't exactly bad at it himself). The villain and his plot were decent. It's long, but not terribly slow. The action doesn't dominate the movie like the previews might lead you to believe. Overall I enjoyed it.

Speaking of previews, in case anyone was counting on it, the entire sequence with Rachel McAdams in the Moulin Rouge style get up is nowhere to be found in this movie. I think I know where it was intended to go, but it isn't there. I can honestly say I was was somewhat disappointed by this fact.

The last movie that I watched was also Sherlock Holmes. I greatly enjoyed it. Downey Jr.'s performance was phenomenal, the mystery was engaging and clever, the action sequences were as good as you could hope for from the previews, and it was actually quite amusing at times. I've just been reading some of the short stories (I got the complete book for Christmas), and I don't think that it was TOO far from the original stories. Holmes was a strong guy (read the beginning of Speckled Band), and the deerstalker was never mentioned, only added by the illustrator. I rather liked it, and hope for a sequel (which they're certain to get, after it's 65mil box office performance over the weekend).

Saw both Sherlock Holmes and Avatar on the same day (Christmas). I must say, Avatar's sheer visuals blew me away; Sherlock Holmes was a good but not great film, and it's hard to dislike anything Robert Downey Jr. does nowadays. The story for Holmes was a bit on the foolish side, but I'm interested to see where the sequel will take us.

Avatar: It was amazing. The CGI was fenomenal. The story was very original.

It was sad that both Trudy and Dr. Grace Augustine died:

:cry_sad: . A great film 5 out of 5  . My forth favorite movie after Star Wars episodes 4,5,6.

Sherlock Holmes: A great movie. I really liked that it kept the amount of action or comedy low but still had enough to make good. I wish I had more to say because this was a great movie. And I definitly see a sequal coming :classic: . I would say it would be great for any age and I give t a 4 out of 5  .

District 9: I got the DVD for Christmas and was a little uneasy when I opened it because of what some people said about it. But once it started with the news reports I kinda felt better because I thought "Oh, there is not going to be too much people exploding like in most sci-fi movies." Well I pretty much thought wrong :hmpf_bad: . It almost seemed that the story was going to fast. But it wasn't that bad, I guess. I would give it a 3 out of 5.

All good or great films and I suggest you see them too.

Went to see Invictus yesterday... it was really good, despite my lack of knowledge on the topic of Nelson Mandela's election, or rugby, or anything South African. The rugby scenes were really great.

Overall, 4/5.

Yeah, I also got them together at WalMart lke that. I agree that it didn't seem as funny. I will give it credit for not having an overly long and completely random musical number though (I wish the first one didn't have that part). Overall I liked it though. Also, the less of their Obi Wan I see the better as far as I am concerned.

Last movie I watched was Watchmen. I know I'm waaaaay late on that, but it's now officially in my favorite movies of all time. ^.^ Everything about it was amazing, but the part that stood out the most (besides the acting; especially on Dr. Manhattan) was the soundtrack...so much awesome, except for the credits. =P

Sherlock Holmes: I'll go ahead and say this right away: it was alright. Downey Jr. and Jude Law were both spectacular. Downey Jr. did a really great job at the voice of Holmes- just what I imagined, with the help of the original short films. And I liked how they made Watson cool and collected, not like in the original stories. The action was pretty great as well, and the story was interesting enough to support the action.

But, as great as the movie itself was, it did not lend itself well to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's novels and short stories. In almost every single one of those writings, hardly any action is seen, and most of the story is clue-finding and observation. The movie totally missed these aspects, as well as making Holmes a comedic fool (who somehow knows kung-fu). I did feel that they hit some parts- such as the insanity of Holmes when he was out of a case, or the logical planning when he was about to fight someone- right, and those were done really well, but for the most part, I wasn't feeling the vibe that the original stories gave me.

Joel Silver (director of the Matrix trilogy), and the other producers made a nice attempt to give an entertaining show, but you might as well call it something other than Sherlock Holmes.

And I hated how they set it up for a sequel.

Avatar!

I loved it! I saw it in 3D today, and I was blown away! It had everything: Action, good plot, villains, Hero's, Nearly Naked tribal girls, giants mechs, nearly naked tribal girls, giant flying lizards, nearly naked tribal chicks, Magic trees, and did I mention nearly naked tribal girls? I would recommend it to most people!

A LEGO license could work... in theory. But lest we forget that it had a crap load of violence (Way more than Indy and Star Wars put together), and as I said before:

Nearly Naked tribal girls

So that might be a problem. Also, there was a plot that was to sophisticated for most 9 and 10 year olds.

But, if TLG could get passed that, than it would be awesome!

Fantastic Mr. Fox. 4.5 / 5 stars.

Fantastic movie. The plot was very, very close to the book,

They even included the rat in the Secret Cider Cellar!

I like how they actually told you the chapters of the book, so at every few points yellow writing'd come up and name the chapter of the book the part was on.

One of the best movies of 2009. (Or 2010 since it was released on January 1st here. )

OMGZ! So much violence!

On topic now. For Christmas, I got the complete James Bond collection. At least that's what the box said, but "Never Say Never Again" and "Quantum of Solace" were not included, the former, because it was produced by a studio other than Columbia Pictures and therefore was not licensed to be in the set, and the latter because it wasn't out at the time of the set's release. Now I can watch all the Bond movies, and catch up on the one's I haven't seen yet. :classic:

Dr. No: Way better than From Russia With Love. The plot was typical, but I'm sure it made an impact in the 60's. My favorite from Connery so far.

Goldfinger: The action was really good, and the plot was something different. Not as good as I expected, though, and I didn't like how stupid they made Felix Leiter look. Starting the trend for "gold"... Goldfinger, The Man With the Golden Gun, Goldeneye...

Tomorrow Never Dies: I'll say over and over again: Pierce Brosnan is the best Bond ever. Not only was his acting superior, but the plot was unique with the fact that instead of an insane ex-military leader wanting to rule or destroy the world, the main villain was a mastermind newspaper editor, who caused mayhem and wars just for good ratings. I really liked this one.

I finallly got around to watching the matrix series. I got through matrix and through reloaded. Gonna watch the third soon.

Those are some GREAT movies.

Terminator Salvation.

Or as my very young cousin says: Terminator Starvation!

Nobody expected movie better than first 2 movies, but it does its job nicely.

I would rang it as a 3rd movie, with a rate of 6/10

I regret that there are relatively small number of terminators, I miss that.

There was one minute when I really enjoyed, if you have watched the movie you can guess.

Just finished the matrix revolutions. Excellent effects and story. When

Neo fought smith for the last time

the effects just blew me away. Kind of confusing though. Do not read my following question if you haven't seen the movie. I am serious. Do not read the question unless you have seen the movie.

Did neo really die?

Did neo really die?

I suspect he'll be back... someday.

Great movies, I agree. I didn't like the third one very much at all, except for the final fight. But the other two are my all-time favorites, both spectacular. I've watched them hundreds of times each.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs - :hmpf:

I couldn't even finish watching this movie. The animation was stupid, the characters were stupid, the plot was stupid... evrything was ridiculous. But what can you expect from a movie with a name like that, huh? I can't believe this movie even made it into theaters. I swear, every word the characters said sounded like that kid in your class that talks to himself and sits in the corner sobbing about how his tortoise got butt stains on his T-shirt. In other words, random nonsense.

The newsreporter girl's puns didn't even make sense, either. If I see a movie, I want to hear funny puns, darn it!

Overall, I want to warn everyone of you guys to not come near this movie, it could be carrying influenza.

Well I didn't see it but it can't be as bad as "Chipmunks the sqequil" it only gat half a star! I'm serious. Anyway here's a few puns for yiou to make up for the movie. What kind of horse never comes out during the day? A night-mare!

What part of your body has the most rhythm? The ear drum!

Anyway the last movie I saw was "Mars Attacks!" during my new years alien movie marathon. That movie is still as good as the last 5 times I've seen it.

"Dat dat dat. DAT DAT!!"
