Peppermint_M Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Captain America, I loved it. I agree with Captain Assassin about it being one of the better superhero movies. Quite a sad ending though. Oh, it was ever so sad, so sad even Tommy Lee Jones was upset... That said, it was a fantastic film, I really enjoyed it. I saw it with friends again, might go and see it with my Mum, she enjoys this sort of film. We also like the fact that there were a lot of rather attractive men in vintage uniform.... I trust you stuck around after the credits this time? Quote

airsoftg36c Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 (edited) Skyline. Epic fail( ) , but it had great graphics...( ) I've also been watching Stephen King's The Stand, but my sister(yes, I still live at home) doesn't like it... So.... I have to watch it without her, which will take a long time to watch Edited August 1, 2011 by airsoftg36c Quote
JimBee Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Captain America: All I can say is, meh. It wasn't horrible, some parts were actually quite good, it's just that I found the plot to be highly unrealistic. The parts I did like were the fact that it took place during WWII (which offered for some cool settings and costume designs), and the fact that Hugo Weaving was in it. Cellular: Worst movie I've seen since The Happening. The acting was laughably bad, and the plot and dialog were just plain stupid. A wasted hour and a half. Book of Eli: This one I actually really enjoyed. The plot and filming style really captured a post-apoc world well, and Denzel Washington was excellent. Quote
Sisco Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus- I just watch this movie for laughs at the horribly bad acting and stupid storyline. Great if you and your friends want to poke fun at a horrible movie. Quote
Ceroknight Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Just watched Redline. Have to say, it had no structure what so ever, and an obvious story However, I watched it for the amazing cars in it and the girls, both which I like Quote
Artanis I Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus- I just watch this movie for laughs at the horribly bad acting and stupid storyline. Great if you and your friends want to poke fun at a horrible movie. My friends & I like to watch movies by that "production company" (for lack of a better term) for that very reason. May I recommend 100 Million BC (for terrible + terribly funny acting, props, CGI) & Alien Vs Hunter (for atrocious dialogue and reused & nonsensical sets). Quote

Me and my dad both share a love of watching those kinds of movie. In fact, I'm still waiting to watch Mega Python vs Gatoroid with him. Might I also recommend Dinocroc Vs Supergator, too may hilariously stupid/ironic moment to list. Also, is just one hilarious WTF-ery after the other. Edited August 5, 2011 by LandShark Quote
Mr_Malfoy Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 (edited) Cars 2.....saw it with my son, it was a total blast and it proves even a rusty tow truck has smarts, guts and picks up the babes too ! I feel there would be room for a third.....Mater gets married or something funny ! Hmm... Since Cars came out on the studio's 20th birthday, and Cars 2 came out on its 25th birthday, so...2016? Seeing as how one of the driving(no pin intended) forces behind Cars 2 was the fact they could produce massive amounts of merchandise, I would not be surprised if they did take that route. Quote
M'Kyuun Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 I saw Rise of the Planet of the Apes yesterday. Very well done, with a few nods to the original Planet of the Apes. Huge props to the special effects, considering the majority of apes in the movie are CG, but look incredibly real. Where they really excelled, however, is in rendering the facial expressions. Andy Serkis, known for playing Gollum and King Kong, plays Ceasar, the main simian character; his body language and facial expressions bring the character to life. Quote
Mr_Malfoy Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Today, HP 7 part 2 ! Totally AWESOME and a little better than Dark Side Of The Moon I saw last week. And who knew about Snape eh ? Dam, it I wish they wouldn't make films molded like a Star Wars film....a plot set in the past with characters turning evil when really in the end they are only doing it to defeat said evil in the long run. If you haven't seen it, do so it is excellent entertainment and a cute ending.....19 years on ! Keep on watching movies ! I have to admit, I nearly cried when I saw Snape in Godric's Hollow holding Lily's dead body and crying with baby Harry crying in the background . Quote
Mr Man Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 (edited) In the past week and a half I decided to watch all the Marvel films in this order •X-Men Origins: Wolverine, X-Men: First Class, X-Men 1, X-Men 2, X-Men 3 •Spider-Man 1, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3 •Iron Man 1, Iron Man 2, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Captain America •Daredevil, Elektra, Fantastic Four, Fantastic Four 2 •Hulk, The Punisher, Punisher: War Zone, Ghost Rider, Man-Thing They made a good weeks worth of watching. It's a shame that the Punisher series wasn't continued. Oh and Man-Thing was a huge disappointment. I don't read comics but it was a uneventful film and nothing like the others on that list. Looking forward to the next lot: Ghost Rider 2, The Avengers, The Amazing Spider-Man, Iron Man 3, Thor 2 Edited August 9, 2011 by Mr Man Quote
Zeya Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 I have to admit, I nearly cried when {SNIP} Whoa there, Mr. Spoiler. Give people a warning. Quote
Larrynautik Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 I recently saw Nothing to Declare, french movie involving two customs officers - a belgian and a french - causing a lot of trouble at the border of Belgium and France. They both learn that the border separating them will soon disappear due to Europe, and that they will have to work together. Really funny movie ! I've also seen Skyline, earth invasion in L.A., and... I'm still trying to understand if this movie has a meaning, a sense, or if I've not understood something important during the watch... Fortunately, I've recently seen Source Code, not too bad, but a bit complex. But the best movie I've seen is definitely The Time Traveler’s Wife, wonderful movie about a man condemned to travel in the future and the past because of a genetic anomaly. He can't control its travels, but tries to live with this curious symptoms. He encounters its wife - the title already revealed this - but living with a man who disappears suddently is quite difficult sometimes... Quote
K-Nut Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 I trust you stuck around after the credits this time? I have indeed thank you As did I! That really got my adrenaline pumping. I agree it was a very sad ending. Yesterday I watched James and the Giant Peach with my Brother. Not that bad. Perfect family movie. Quote
Zeya Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 I saw Public Enemies. It was bad. The movie dragged on, and to top it off there was some cheesy dialogue at the end that made me yank out the DVD about 30 seconds before I assume the credits start. Of course the movie dragged on so badly there could have been another hour from that point. Skip this steaming pile and watch another movie. Quote

Sure it does drag on, but I don't think it drags on for as long as the new King Kong. Last night I saw Inception. I loved it. I personally thought the music was great and the storyline was awesome. I have such a twisted mind it made perfect sense to me. One of my favorite movies, though. Quote
charlieboy Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Went to see Harry Potter DH part 2 today. It was an awesome film and a great ending to an incredible story. Sadly once again they missed parts of the book out but even so it gets a 10/10 from me. Quote
1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Went to see Harry Potter DH part 2 today. It was an awesome film and a great ending to an incredible story. Sadly once again they missed parts of the book out but even so it gets a 10/10 from me. Went one week ago. The ending was very nostalgic I must say, since they used the music in the end in such a way that it echoes Philosopher's Stone. For all of us who grew up with Harry, it sure brought a tear to our eyes. And I agree: although missing great parts of the book, it was an excellent movie altogether. Quote
Nightshroud99 Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which was pretty good. Quote
Commander Assassin Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 In the past few days, I have been busy watching movies! To start out I saw: Rise of the Planet of the Apes- Good movie, a lot better than it could have been. 9/10 Father of the Bride- Steve Martin does a great job in this [for the most part] clean family comedy. 9/10 True Grit [1969]- Good Western, one of my favorites. Can't wait to see the new one! 8/10 Megamind- Good for elementary aged kids; ok for adults but not a favorite. 6.5/10 Quote
airsoftg36c Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Watched this with some of my friends at a sleepover...... Hard to watch with a hangover, and weariness from Xbox all night, but still awesome. Quote

JimBee Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 I just saw Cowboys & Aliens, and loved it. A lot of people, I hear, thought it was corny but I thought the mash-up was very well done. With an all-star cast of Harrison Ford, Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde, and more familiar faces, I enjoyed every bit of this movie. Probably the best in my mind since Inception. Also, I went through the whole film thinking Indiana Jones & James Bond & Tron was the real title of the movie. Oh, and one thing I noticed was that the character Percy in this film was very similar to the Percy in The Green Mile (both directed by Steven Spielberg). Both characters were the snobby offspring of rich, powerful fathers who did whatever they wanted (and got beat up a lot for it). Did Spielberg have something against a Percy in Jr. High or something?
