Prometheus.

Same here. I'd give that an 8/10 coming from someone with little experience with Ridley Scott sci-fi. I didn't find it scary, but the world they created was unbelievable. Some strong performances too.

The Illusionist with Edward Norton and Paul Giamatti. Entertaining enough, but not as good as it could have been.

Please don't shout at me, but I finally watched LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring for the first time. It was an amazing movie, I shed a few tears at the Boromir death scene and the part where Sam almost drowned. It was just... awesome. Planning on watching the 2nd one soon...

Saw Brave with the family on Sunday. Our daughter was all dressed up as Merida with her Merida doll. She was super excited. It was her first big screen movie, so we went all out for her to make it a good experience.

The movie overall was one of the better Pixar movies, in my opinion. It involved Celtic "history" which is more appealing to me with my middle ages Lego collection. The humor was brilliant. And it was great that Merida didn't require a guy to rescue her or win her heart at the end. It was more empowering for little girls I think. It will give them more confidence and can stand on their own two feet instead of relying someone else. Either way, it was a good show. I highly recommend.

The last movie I watched was Cars 2. I liked it! I think I prefer the first movie over the second one. Still, Cars 2 is a good movie.

Saw Rock of Ages. Tom Cruise was excellent, best soundtrack ever(especially if you're a fan of late 80's rock). Your typical love story, but whatever. Good flick.

The Adventures of Tintin

Gorgeously animated, Tintin impresses. The humor is spot on, and the story is pretty good. The only problems are the sound mix (I could barely hear the dialogue at points), the pacing, and the last 20 minutes (a bit anti-climatic and rushed).

8.5/10

Fun fact: the first time I heard about the Tintin comics was on this forum (someone made a Tintin MOC a while back).

I caught the Amazing Spider-Man today. It was a solid film, but half of it was just deja vu from the first Raimi flick. Really, it's hard to understand how it got greenlit outside of the fact that Sony wanted to keep the rights to it.

The good stuff? It lays some nice groundwork for the inevitable next one, where the Green Goblin should make an appearance, which can only be better than the poor one from the first Spider-Man. And since Gwen is the romantic lead in this one, perhaps her story arc will reflect the original one from the comics, which was heavy, and amazing.

If there had been no previous Spider-Man movies, I'd give this a 5/5, but since there were good ones so recently, it falls to a 4/5. Good, but not great. :sadnew:

Just rewatched Batman Begins and The Dark Knight to refresh my memory before The Dark Knight Rises comes out. They are truly amazing movies, and by far the best Batman films. Heath Ledger's Joker is probably the best part of all the films so far, an I don't say that just because it was his last complete film role. Just a truly outstanding performance. Can't wait to see how Christopher Nolan concludes his story.

Especially when you stayed till the rolling of the credits, it kinda made me looking forward to the next sequel in 2014.

The Amazing Spider-Man

Loved it. Probably even more than the first entry in the Sam Raimi trilogy. I don't want to spoil much, but this was a darker and more powerful origin story. Hope to see what comes next. :sweet:

9.25/10 (better than Brave though)

Same, best Spiderman I've seen. Did you have to wait for the entire credit to be over for another scene or was it the one after the main credits?

Loved Stan Lee in this one

Also watched Ted, pretty funny, but it's not all comedy, which was a small disappointment for me

Just the one after the main credits. :classic:

And Stan Lee's cameo was really funny (everyone in the theater started cheering at that scene too).

I watched the Amazing Spiderman yesterday.

WARNING. Spoilers may be present.

The plot was a lot better than the Raimi one and the origin story was better too. In the original, Parker was a cage fighter at one point and did a lot of crazy things before becoming Spiderman. In this version though, it was more true to the comics. In terms of accuracy too, McGuire's Spidey had organic webbing, a big error in my perspectivel. Garfield's Spidey used the devices which he originally designed. There were some small problems with this adaptation. The choice of villain. Out of all the villains in Spiderman tgey had to choose the Lizard. Green Goblin? Nah, too overused. Venom? No, too early. I know, why not go with the Lizard? A crocodile in a labcoat? Yes! To Marvel's credit, the Lizard was portrayed pretty accurately to the comics but for a first movie would have not been my choice. Green Goblin would have been a better choice and yes, I did contradict myself but I'm talking about the one that dresses garishly in purple and chucks pumpkin bombs, not some mutant ninja. Nos the pros. Stan Lee cameo was awesome, more use of the webbing! Gwen Stacy, though her arc is not for the faint hearted and the overall mood of the film, not as dark as the first trilogy ended up being.

I haven't seen it yet, but is the scene all the way at the end? Cause I missed the shawarma scene at the end.

Saw Ted today. It was hilarious. If you don't like heavy swearing and/or a Boston accent, don't see it. It was a funny story but typical of romance card. Guy+Girl, guy screws up(it seems to be the guy, A LOT), something romantic happens, happily ever after.
