Darth Lurtz Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 I just saw The Dark Knight Rises on Thursday at midnight, It was amazing! Probably the greatest movie I've ever seen! There was just one thing I thought was kind of weird: Why did the lady call John Blake robin at the end? I mean throughout the movie I figured he was really Tim Drake, but what? Is his name really robin? That doesn't really make much sense, does it? Overall I'd give it 9001/100. I also saw The Dark Knight Rises and thought it was a great way to end the trilogy. Robin was his middle name and was just a homage to the character. Quote
purpleparadox Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Darn you all! I barely have the self-control to stop from clicking those spoiler tabs. I mean, you guys are rating it 9.25 or even 11, out of 10! TDKR must be an amazing movie! But I won't click those and ruin it for myself. Going to watch it tomorrow! Quote
sok117 Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 I saw TDKR the other day, I loved it and hated it at the same time. Some things were amazing, but it felt weird when the city got turned into a war-zone as it just didn't feel like a Batman movie anymore, it was super un-realistic realism, and that just left a bad taste in my mouth. 8/10 It was Epic though Quote
Leo604 Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 ^ TDK Rises as well. For me, the theme was more political (rich vs. poor) than the previous 2 films. Still, a great conclusion to the Dark Knight trilogy. Quote
Lothos Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Saw TDKR friday morning, good flick all around. Glad the arc is done, got to see a superman teaser, so sorta stoked about that. Quote
halomaster96 Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 I also saw The Dark Knight Rises and thought it was a great way to end the trilogy. Robin was his middle name and was just a homage to the character. That was one of the least weird of my thoughts about that scene, it just had me confused for a while. All in all I thought it was a great ending (to the trilogy and to the film). Quote
Scorpiox Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Saw Apocalypse Now. Great war film, with many brilliant and hilarious scenes at the start (Especially when the Huey crews start playing 'Ride of the Valkiries' over tape when they fly in to attack the village, and the various surfing parts). The action was good too, but by the near end the film morphed into something severely weird. Didn't really know what to think of it, and I was slightly creeped out. The last 20 minutes was mainly speaking, with only about half of anyone's face visible, it built up great atmosphere. All in all, I thouroughly recommend this classic film to you guys. Plus, I bought the Redux version with a bonus 49 minutes in extra scenes; as if it wasn't long enough already. Quote
Vindicare Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Finally saw The Dark Knight Rises. Ah-mazing! Catwoman: black catsuit+red lipstick= Quote
into the blue Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 John Carpenter's The Thing has always been a favourite film of mine. About two weeks ago I watched the new prequel, which wasn't half bad, there were lots of little details that tie the two films together (the split faced corpse in the snow, the axe in the wall, etc). On a trans-atlantic flight a few days ago I watched Howard Hawks' The Thing From Another World for the first time. Really enjoyed it, a very well-made film for its time. There was one incredible scene where the airmen and scientists fight off the monster with buckets of fuel and a flare pistol. With the exception of Ben Hur's chariot race this is by far the most dangerous thing I have ever seen in a movie. Quote
Bilbo Baggins Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 I finally went to see Brave. I really liked it, PIXAR never seems to let me down. I decided to stay all the way through credits to watch the scene by the end and I was pretty let down. Quote
Ceroknight Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Just came back from watching Dark Knight Rises It was brilliant with a few emotional scenes. Fantastic acting and an awesome ending I'm hesitant to say the Avengers was better because the Avengers was more funny and less darker than DKR was. Definitely worth watching Quote
HumanPackMule Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Watched the original Ghost in the Shell movie last night. Very strange, very interesting, and amazing production quality. Quote
Bilbo Baggins Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 I just watched the Descendants, I didn't liked it at all. 4/10 Quote
Leo604 Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 The Hurt Locker on Tuesday, borrowed from the public library. Now I know why it won Best Director and Picture over Avatar. Quote
Fives Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Just got back from TDKR. I'm still shaken by the awesomeness of it. I think I'll need a day to process everything before I can give my thoughts. Quote
Multiverse Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Hugo. My mum and my brother rented it to watch, and found it so great they had to show my dad and I (well, my mum thought so. My brother thought it was pretty blend). I agree, it is a beatiful movie. =) Quote
Greedo24 Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 The Amazing Spider-Man!(the new one )It was OK...7/10 It just can't compare to TDKR. Quote
Fives Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Ok, here are my thoughts on TDKR: Amazing! Awesome! Scrumtrelescent! This movie was by far the best of the year, blowing Avengers out of the water! The way that Nolan was able to bring this amazing story to a conclusion, without leaving any loose ends, was astounding! Christian Bale was as good as ever! There isn't much to say since we've seen him, along with Freeman, Caine and Oldman in the previous movies. All their performances were great! Anne Hathaway was perfect as Selina Kyle/Catwoman. She had that snarky way of talking, and I loved how she wasn't really on anyones side except her own. Tom Hardy. He has officially become one of my favourite actors. I read something recently about how he created the voice of Bane, and how he purposely made his voice condradict his physical appearance, which worked really well for the character. Still can't decide if I like Bane as a villain better than Joker, but they are so different that they can't be compared. I felt like Bane was similar to Darth Vader in the sense that when he was in the room, his presence alone strikes fear into everyones hearts, while Joker didn't have that. Marion Cotillard was great as Miranda Tate. I'm not gonna say too much about her though, since I don't want spoil anything. Same goes for Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who did a fantastic job as being the inadvertent sidekick to Batman. Overall, an amazing movie with a lot of twists and a great ending! Quote
wazza98 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 (edited) I watched Real Steel yesterday, and it was actually a really good film! Hugh Jackman was perfect for the ex-boxer role Edited July 26, 2012 by wazza98 Quote
simonjedi Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Amazing Spiderman - 6/10. Bland, forgettable and pointless, there was a few good moment but not enough to save the film. Just go watch the best spiderman film instead... ... Spiderman 2, If you didn't know. Quote
Scorpiox Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Watched The Dark Knight Rises in a cinema. It was absolutely brilliant, with plenty of action and emotion all-round. Bane was far better than I'd thought he would be, and the mask and amplified voice did certainly make him rather frightening. The ending took me totally by surprise, but I won't go over that much here in case others haven't yet seen it. Quote
Jimbobulus Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 James Bond Moonraker. One of the worst ones I think, James Bond is not an astronaut, and space fights with lasers etc belong in Star Trek and Star Wars (which I love). It's just like Han Solo and Luke going to a Casino and playing Baccarat whilst ordering the Belugar Caviar and the Bollinger Out of place!! 5/10. Quote

With the possible exceptions of 'Live and Let Die' and 'The Man with The Golden Gun' , aren't all Roger Moore's Bond films terrible? Quote
Bilbo Baggins Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Just watched TDKR, it was awesome but I liked the Amazing SpiderMan better. Quote
The Blue Brick Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 I just came back from watching the TDKR for the second time and The Watch. TDKR was even better as I saw it in IMAX. The Watch was good, but not the best. It was quite funny though. Quote
