Walter Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Just watched Meet Me in Saint Louis (1944) with my family. Is there anyone else here that has a soft spot for old musicals like these? I love some of the classic MGM ones especially. Quote
Scorpiox Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Rocky II. A classic film, worth watching for entertainment value. In parts though, the film was so bad that it was good. One has to love good 'ol Rocky's technique, called 'stand-there-with-my-arms-down-and-let-him-hit-me', but it was alright for him of course, because large-screen viewing reveals that none of the punches even connected! Oh, and I couldn't understand a word that Stallone said througout the movie. Quote
Leo604 Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Saw Bourne Legacy on Friday night; not as good as the past 3, I'm afraid. Supremacy is still my favourite. Quote
miskox Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Back to the future trilogy. One of the best movies of all times. Saso Quote
K-Nut Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 In the past few nights I watched all of the Bourne movies. 1st one I thought was good, but not great. I really enjoyed the second one and love the third one. The new one started really slow, but then it picked up. Overall, I really enjoyed the series and would highly recommend it. Quote
Sisco Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Went and saw The Campaign today. While it's definitely not Will Ferrell's best movie, it's still hilarious. It got a bit slow right around the middle, but picked up again before it was over. It was kind of sad to see how true it was about American politics... But still good. I'd give it a 7/10. Quote
Sam892 Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Ted was just released last weekend here in England and I have to say I loved every minuite of it. It's been a while since I've laughed that hard at a film and am so glad I went to see it with friends. Quote
Artanis I Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Been going through some "classic" (ie critically acclaimed or high profile) movies I haven't seen before. Last week or so: Goodfellas, Apocalypse Now, Total Recall (yes, the one with Arnie & Sharon Stone ) & Raging Bull. Robert De Niro used to be a decent actor & in decent movies... Quote

Those stuntmen driving those motorcycles were insanely good. Quote
purpleparadox Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 I just watched Sixth Sense. Creepy but interesting movie. It had a neat twist at the end! I'm sure a lot of you guys have seen it before. I'd give it 8.25/10. Quote
Scorpiox Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 The Matrix. I thought it good, and the premise reminded me of Terminator. Looking forward to watching the rest of the trilogy. Quote
Darth Lurtz Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 The Matrix. I thought it good, and the premise reminded me of Terminator. Looking forward to watching the rest of the trilogy. You're only going to be disappointed by them. Quote
Leo604 Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Just watched A Bug's Life again. So many good memories. *cries* Quote
Artanis I Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Just watched Contagion on DVD - really good film - played the whole global pandemic scenario in a realistic way and made good use of a big name cast (only bad thing about it was Jude Law's dodgy Aussie accent ) . That was an Aussie accent was it? I thought he was cockney to start with, then I wasn't sure. I'm pretty desensitised to these kind of movies, where some uncontrollable disease is going to wipe everyone out. Pretty much nothing they can come up with surprises or affects me much. I do admit though, the believeability of the characters was good. I like movies where the people seem like real people, with realistic behaviour. Quote
Vindicare Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Saw The Campaign yesterday. Lots of F-Bombs and other colorful language. But hilarious to boot! Quote
K-Nut Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Watched Serenity last night. I loved Firefly, and I'm not sure if I liked Serenity more. For me, 9.5/10. It had a few flaws, but overall I thought it was a spectacular movie. Highly recommended. Quote

It's been a while since I've laughed that hard at a film and am so glad I went to see it with friends. Recently I wanted to go see a comedy and I regret choosing The Watch over Ted. The Watch was just OK, but I'd recommend anyone to simply rent it later on. I see that Ted has been getting much better reviews. Quote

Couldn't sleep the other night, so I watched Contagion as well on cable. I really liked it. I thought it was shot, and presented in an unusual way. I liked how there were long periods of no dialogue. Just dramatic music. Quote

Not a film I think would help you get to sleep either I watched Escape from LA the other night - first time I've seen it all the way through. Not as good as Escape from New York but also not as bad as I thought it would be. Edited August 16, 2012 by Praiter Yed Quote
just2good Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Saw The Bourne Legacy yesterday with my dad. Meh Summer movie, haven't seen the other Bourne films, so I was a bit confused. There was barely any action, and the film actually got boring at points. The acting wasn't too good (except Jeremy Renner), and the dialog was okay. 5.75/10 Quote

chard5000 Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 in the theatre: Amazing Spiderman on netflix: Fido Both were excellent. Quote
Scorpiox Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 The Matrix: Reloaded. The start was a tad boring, but about 20 minutes in, the film really got exciting. The action sequences are beyond awesome in the previous film, and this one didn't disappoint. Although it did become silly at a few points, like when Neo was fighting about ten thousand Smith clones. At some points, I was really confused, but in the end, the story sort of explained itself. Overall, I rather liked it, but I think that the first film was a bit better in places. I'm eager to watch the third and final film soon. Quote
Bilbo Baggins Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 I just watched The Dictator, it was really funny and Sacha Baron Cohen never seems to let me down Quote
