lightningtiger Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 (edited) This one I call a WIP, but in another way it's finshed (but is a MOD/MOC ever finshed with eh ? ) ! BRIDGESTONE SELECT TYRE DEALERSHIP Okay, now the explaination........ I always thought the 7642 had a problem - it was too big one way and too small in others. So today I took my son's 7642 which he has no interest in anymore and built a tyre outlet. You can easily see that the roof only covers the roller door part, with very high frontage to hide the open back - the idea is for maximum playability while still looking realistic from the front. It has everything a tyre place has including my famous wheel balancer from a few months ago (it's back ) - also note most of the work carried out a this Select outlet costs at least a hundred bucks ! Now I might consider making a battery stand to put out the front - maybe that's now in the pipeline ! Comments are again very welcome, thanks for reading - thanks for looking - I'm a conformist! ! sens1992 Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Great work here Lightningtiger. It is a great little tire shop. I say classic town I say! Great! Quote

Thank you 'sens1992' for those kind words, to me classic town means playtime - hence this design for play and display ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote
prateek Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 That's nice! I like how the Smart car looks atop the lift. I also like the open feel of the shop. Great pics too Quote
dr_spock Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Nice shop. I think a drive on ramp lift might be problematic for a tire shop. It would be difficult to take the wheels off if they are sitting on a ramp. Quote
ACCURATEin Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 oh this is great! i would love to have one of these bridgestones in my city. Nice idea! Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 21, 2010 Author Posted February 21, 2010 (edited) Thanks 'prateek' and 'dr_spock' (quick edit) is not to forget 'ACCURATEin' for your kind comments - yeah it's a nice shop I must say so myself ! Anyway, the lift issue - hmm let me think about it - I have seen a double lift, where the car gets lifted up and then a second lift raises the car up enough to remove the wheels - I will look in too it ! I'm a conformist! ! Edited February 21, 2010 by lightningtiger Quote
Inconspicuous Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 I agree with dr_spock, that the only problem is taking off the tires when the car is up. Otherwise, I love it! It has a nice, more modern air about it, and is very detailed. Awesome work! Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 21, 2010 Author Posted February 21, 2010 Thank you 'Inconspicous' for your comments - yep that lift I have to do something about. By the way I just adjusted my next lot of stickers for the car/truck batteries to go in here ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 21, 2010 Author Posted February 21, 2010 I'm back now after spending two hours banging my head almost against a brickwall - all I can do is relocate the lift mounts. In any case this I feel looks better, at least the mechanic can get all the wheels and most of the car too ! Comments very welcome ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Rick Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Nice MOC with a very classic town feel to it. The stickers match the color scheme perfectly. I just think you should move the whole thing one stud to the left and build a side wall for the shop. It looks too open from that side now. Quote

Thanks for the comments 'Rick', I based the whole idea around the 7642 which has it's office open half at the back and all to one side - but if I want to put another building a long side of it I can - I was intending on having this on the outskirts of the town centre of New Mannum anyway. Again thank you and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Legostein Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Hello! The large glass facade of the shop and garage is very good looking. The functionalities inside the shop have a high level of playability making it a great city set. Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
Zorbas Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 The Label Guy strikes again! Great work lightningtiger! You've managed to make a realistic "garage type" building from the "not so good" official set. This is how the 7642 should look like in my opinion. Like a proper building. I love all the details you've added in there. The colour combination looks great and matches with the label perfectly. Great work and keep on....well...you know! Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 21, 2010 Author Posted February 21, 2010 Thanks 'Legosteine' and 'Zorbas' for your very kind words - thank you again. By tomorrow night my time I should have the battery stand made up and stickered ! So everyone I'm a conformist! ..........I'll keep on stickering ! Quote
booga-b Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Nice MOC there lightningtiger, good use of the old set. Very simple and functional. Funnily enough, that's where I take my car to get it serviced. lol! Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 21, 2010 Author Posted February 21, 2010 Thanks 'booga-b' for your kind words ! As long it's a Lego car or truck you are fine ! 'Rick' made a remark about a side wall, I'll look into that, but that requires me to rip the whole design apart and almost start from scratch.........Ah well that's life............I'm a conformist! ! BlueBard Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 How I've missed this one? Great job, lightningtiger, really nice details and as usual good job with the sticker for the sign Quote

Great job, lightningtiger, really nice details and as usual good job with the sticker for the sign Thank you 'Bluebard' - I just love giving buildings and vehicles character or a purpose, then again just a name helps get the message across. lightningtiger Posted February 22, 2010 Author Posted February 22, 2010 Well this wall wasn't as bad to do I first thought ! I'll be back later in the day with the batteries and stickering for the walls for said batteries. Comments are as usual very welcome and I'm a conformist! everyone ! Quote
Princess Muttonchops Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Yet another great MOC lightningtiger! At this rate, you'll have a full-grown CBD at your disposal. I'm really looking forward to Ettamunga (?) Pub... Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 22, 2010 Author Posted February 22, 2010 Yet another great MOC lightningtiger! At this rate, you'll have a full-grown CBD at your disposal. I'm really looking forward to Ettamunga (?) Pub... Thanks 'Walrus Keeper' you got the 'pub' bit right - very shortly I'm going to start to design the bar component of it - which for an Aussie bloke is the most important thing in a pub, that and the TAB ticketing machine on Melbourne Cup day ! I'm a conformist! 'Walrus Keeper' and everyone else ! Quote

lightningtiger Posted February 22, 2010 Author Posted February 22, 2010 Thanks 'jonwil' for your cheeky comment ! Well I'm mainly do a front bar, which I have just knocked up in LDD, but the roof I have yet to figure out ! If I'm going to have pokies, a local club with a bistro and those naughty machines (tell me about them) ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 22, 2010 Author Posted February 22, 2010 Batteries are done and in stock now ! You can see the batteries on a shelf near the service counter with an Exide sign stuck on the counter. The mechanic is happy then behind the counter to take your money ! Comments very welcome and I'm a conformist! everyone ! Quote
