Posted February 21, 201015 yr My daughter is currently a year and two months, just a bit young for Duplo, but she doesn't have to build anything if she doesn't want to. So I got the Mr. Elephant Bucket, as it's titled here, for her today. She loves the bricks. She just keeps putting them back in the bucket This is a simple video, not so exciting, but I'm amazed at her thoroughness in putting those bricks away!
February 21, 201015 yr Aww! She´s like 'Noo - this is Duplo! I want to build like you, gimme proper LEGO!' Let´s hope she´s one of the next generation´s AFFOLs. (I wonder what she would´ve done with mega-crap... )
February 21, 201015 yr How cute! This is great to see. She can even put the bricks in the box without looking! Hope she continues to like LEGO, and have fun building with her!
February 21, 201015 yr Ha, very nice and cute to see! Another future AFOL-in-training! Her putting the bricks always back into the box is just combining future AFOL- with future womanhood-training, I suppose . (Please don't let Sandy or alike read that sentance).
February 21, 201015 yr ...with future womanhood-training, I suppose .(Please don't let Sandy or alike read that sentance). Sexism to the max Anyways, that's cute
February 21, 201015 yr Cute kid, glad that you're getting her started on LEGO! It's really funny seeing her grab bricks from the left side of the bucket and putting them into the right side when both sides are actually connected. Hopefully we'll get another AFFOL to increase the population in 20+ years! Ha, very nice and cute to see! February 21, 201015 yr Haha, nice. I did the same with my niece (didn't start quite as early however), and now at 5 and a half I have successfully got her hooked on LEGO. At first she had trouble pressing the pieces together firmly to make them lock and following some of the more complicated directions, but she's gotten a lot better. Best of luck with yours!
February 21, 201015 yr Awww what a gorgeous (and tidy) girl you have Def! Just like a proud AFOL Father of you to post this on here. Hahaha! I find it very hard not to mention every time my girl plays with my LEGO.
February 21, 201015 yr I think it's a sad indictment of how far the AFOL community has fallen that even kids are playing with LEGO now ... Hahaha! Only kidding. Bring on the addiction!
February 22, 201015 yr Author Thanks for the views! This is certainly a self-indulgent topic, but it's fun to see how early the bricks capture her attention.

She just keeps putting them back in the bucket Funny my year and a half old son does not like to play with Duplo that we have three coffins full but wants to count my 4 year old boys' SW Clones and flies really well with SW starfighters. Thing that they do together is Gravity Games snowboarding. Everything is OK until my year and a half old becomes mad when older one teases him then he wants to dismantle minifigures heads.
February 27, 201015 yr Man, she puts the yellow bricks in the left side and the red and blue in the right! Clever! I can tell she'll be a big part of the AFOL community one day! CommanderFox Edited February 27, 201015 yr by CommanderFox
February 27, 201015 yr Hehe, I have two-year old guy running round here that doesn't play with his Duplo as quietly as your little lady.
February 8, 201114 yr Author Nearly one year later, and with the birth of Cornelius Murdock's upcoming child, I thought I'd update this. Li'l def now has three Duplo sets, and she loves stacking. At just age two (and one month), she's not replicating anything from reality, mainly just stacking. Sometimes as tall as possible, sometimes as wide as possible, sometimes involving as many animals and maxi-figs as possible. She builds stuff in a pretty rhythmic way. Yesterday, she built something quite strange, alternating a 4x2 a three 2x2 bricks. She was proud afterward.
February 8, 201114 yr That's quite impressive, def! I wouldn't have hoped to build something like that at age two and a half. Keep raising her a FOL!
February 8, 201114 yr Lovely post, def. You can tell Li'l def is proud of her creation. I gave my little niece some Quattro when she was very young. Don't know how much influence that had but at 5 she loves her Lego and was a keen and regular visitor to Legoland Windsor when they were living in England. :classic:
February 8, 201114 yr She's just the cutest! Will she be allowed to play with Daddy's LEGO when she grows up??
February 8, 201114 yr Author Will she be allowed to play with Daddy's LEGO when she grows up?? Not a chance. There's a handful of bits and ends left on my desk that she's allowed to play with, but she can't touch the stash. Maybe when she's proved her maturity, with my car, for instance. For now, she's worse than Godzilla.
February 8, 201114 yr Not a chance. I've heard that somewhere before! All the more reason for a trip to the LEGO shop
