6studs Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 Hi guys, Among us, some are upset by "bad" news such as the grey color change stuff or the "cheaper LEGO prices in the U.S." issue (i.e more expensive in europe)...but I don't want to talk about these points anymore. I'd better want to hear about what you've found great this year (or last years) in the LEGO hobby (company, products, community....) I mean, to help TLC (and AFOL community leaders) to improve their products and services , we have to both tell them what is wrong and what is right (from our point of view ....but not only). What is wrong is naturally said....let us speak about what is great. For example I think the new packaging (bright and embossed) is great for TLC sales. Another example : I found the brickcast during BF very very very great. (all the things that allow us to share the LEGO experience is just great). ....I mean all the things are not perfect, but if people know their efforts are appreciated, they will continue to improve it.....if they don't know, they might be discouraged. So, just share your positive minds ! 6Studs
ApophisV Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 IMO the best improvement of TLC the last time were the designer line.... Sets that encourage kids to use their own imagination (instead of just giving them two ugly (jack stone) "minifigs" and three parts to build a plane....) EDIT: Oh, I'll move this thread to a lego forum... ;)
Jipay Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 Thx dicky for this article. We always try to see positive aspect here, but, I must admit tht sometime we go the wrong way. Well I'm really happy with the designer line, like apo is. This line has been made for people to destroy it and rebuild new stuff, so I'm happy with it. I'm not bothered to detroy a designer model while destroying a millenium falcon is another deal 8-| I want to say I'm also happy to see that decent lego video games are coming. Creating lego minifigs as playable characters with flexible moves was a great idea ! What else ? Mhhhh, I was also happy with the return of town with world city and also the new KK sets. I know this could hurt people, but it's like this, I just love those. I'm also happy that lego ios trying to create a global afol community, even if I think they do this the wrong way so far And I guess that's it, I'll edit my post if I think about something else
David85 Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 I just want to say that the fact it cost more over there is the countries fault and not Legos. Anyways the one good thing would have to be Desinger sets the pieces are great and that dinosaur set with 700+ pieces for $30 is amazing. The World City is nice too, but please Lego release some things for the town. I mean we have bad guys but what are they going to steal? Are they going to rob the police station?
jonfett Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 So, it hasn't been too great a year I guess. But there has been a few good things that seem to have stood out to me. Yes the designer line is a great idea, and especially sets like the tubs which come with a mix of parts which is good fun and also a challenge to build things. The re-release of some more great classics helps to keep the older AFOL community alive, meaning it brings back memories from years ago. And finally, the general bonding between AFOL and TLC helps to keep us all happy. Now that they are listening to us lego fans more we are seeing more of what we want. This has not made a great difference yet but I'm sure it will get better in the future. So lets hope the next few years are good for both of us. Jon.
6studs Posted October 19, 2004 Author Posted October 19, 2004 hi, I must say I didn't buy the recent designer sets...but it seems you really appreciate them. So I'm going to buy at least one copy of each :-) 6Studs
Jipay Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed. Those offer to people an infinite world of creations. The X-Pods werethe best 2004 sets in my opinion. I have all of them, even if the green one is my favorite (it seems lego noticed the green one was everybody fav by seeing the new sets of 2005)
