Legostein Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 (edited) Hello everybody! Today I'd like to present a miniature of present days to you: the NASA Space Shuttle I started the topic in this forum, as it's not from the future although being a space ship. After September 16th 2010 it would also fit into the history forum, as that's the date of the last shuttle mission. Please feel free to move it to the SciFi forum if you feel it fits better in there. It's probably one plate too fat, but it was really fun to build and that's what counts. It comes complete with triple engines and small side engines, heat shield and completely covered bottom. As BrickShelf refuses to udate for over a day now, I'll post a few more images here, but will inform you when the instructions are available, if needed and wanted at all. Thats's it for today. Thank you for your time and interest! Have a great week! Yours Christopher. Edited September 25, 2010 by Legostein Quote
Zorbas Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Great work Chris! It's really amazing the way you build a mini model and actually looking very accurate. Excellent selection of pieces you have there. Well done! P.S One of my favourite "flying objects" during my childhood was the Challenger space shuttle. I remember having a school bag with a print of it, posters hanging in my room and I was really sad when the accident occured. Quote
Ralph_S Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 The shape and proportions aren't perfect, but it's probably impossible to pull that off on this small scale. However, with your MOC you capture the essence of the shuttle and that is very impressive Cheers, Ralph Quote
prateek Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Great mini model Chris! I like the rocket boosters at the back the best, and nice use of the printed piece for the cockpit Quote
Siegfried Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Very cool! Yes the proportions isn't perfect, but consider the scale it's close enough. When I look at it I see the shuttle and that tells me you've succeeded. I started the topic in this forum, as it's not from the future although being a space ship. Nice logic! It is confusing where things like this fit in. Sci-Fi makes sense to a degree, as does town. The Launch Command line, for example, was town. (I'm sure you know this, it won't belong in History next year. Even so, since Adventures go there and they are based in the 20s or thereabouts, would Robert Goddards work belong there? ) Quote
Legostein Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 Hello, and thank you for the nice comments on this slightly mis-proportioned creation. I'm glad it's instantly recognizable. Of course I was kidding about posting it in the history forum as you have correctly expected. Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
