Fugazi Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 (edited) The other day I stumbled upon some old photos of my last 'pre-dark age' creation, and I thought, hey, this could be something fun to share with fellow Eurobrickers! Do you still have pics of those old creations you were so proud of, many of them mixing all available colors (6 or 7 back then!) randomly and unashamedly, perhaps the photos you sent to the LEGO Club Magazine for a contest when you were 8, that kind of fun stuff! So I'm starting this off (if there's any interest) with one pic of that last KFOL creation of mine, a MOC which only goal was to use all of my parts back then! I failed to achieve that, but still the strange result remained on display as built at my parents for many years afterwards! I'm looking forward to see what you have, don't be afraid of displaying the emergence of your talents! Edited February 24, 2010 by space6901 Quote
Clone OPatra Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 This is a nice topic. Since it's actually LEGO creations too, maybe this should go in LEGO General Discussion (or maybe not). If I can dig up some photos (if any exist) I'll share too. I hope others have fun images to share, I can see this topic being very exciting. Even though your kid moc is a big mish-mash, it's still a nice base to play with as a kid. It's tall (always nice), and it really seems to have some components to it. I like it. Quote
Erdbeereis Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I'll move this to general discussion where it might get more attention. Nice topic! Quote
MrTools Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 The pictures are a little small... A house! look at the incredible color! A Mech! Amazing the lime green white blue dark grey and red go so well together! And check out this pirate ship, you tell me where you saw one that looked better These were before i got a mocpages account, here is the first one i uploaded online... Man i have come a long way Quote
Peppermint_M Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 It is a boat. I was 13. It was a... something. I am unsure when I made it, I was certainly quite young. I think, judging by the picture, it is when I was below the age of 14, older than 11 and not at the same time as the boat (not enough bricks for both). I have other pictures of older MOCs but I will have to scan them in... Quote
Fugazi Posted February 24, 2010 Author Posted February 24, 2010 Ahaha! Great stuff everybody! It's all so funny! I wish I would find a picture of the Christmas tree I made for a contest for the Canadian LEGO Club when I was 9 or so... It was blue (what did you expect?), since I had only Space parts to build from. Actually, the whole contest was a cheat now that I think of it, there really were no green parts to speak of back then! Keep the great pics coming! Quote
prateek Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Nice MOCs you itlle KFOLs! I made lots of houses as a kid, but I never took pics of them. I also remember making TIE Fighters and X-Wings just with bricks, no plates or tiles or hinges or anything. They were so awesome Quote
ciano Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Oh man. You guys were so awesome when you were kids, you make me ashamed. But not ashamed enough not to share. Quote
CP5670 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 So I'm starting this off (if there's any interest) with one pic of that last KFOL creation of mine, a MOC which only goal was to use all of my parts back then! I failed to achieve that, but still the strange result remained on display as built at my parents for many years afterwards! This thread is a great idea. I like that radar array made of 24x43 Technic wheels. The oldest pictures I have go back to when I was 11 or 12. There was a beefed up fire engine, back when official City vehicles were still 4-wide, and a Technic truck (can't remember exactly what it was supposed to be). This truck chassis was built when I was 14, but was never completed. It looks better than it actually was, as the design was quite clunky and turned out to be too heavy for the suspension to support. I eventually gave up on the project, as I was running out of pieces by that point too. Even earlier, I often made these giant, multi-colored spaceships shaped like 747s. I used to make one of these models every few years, using all the parts in my collection up to that point. The last one had different sections for different Space themes, like an M:Tron section, Spyrius section, etc., but it was built on baseplates and couldn't even be picked up without falling apart. I don't have any pictures of these though. Quote
dr_spock Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 I built this back in 1983 from the 7710 Push Train set. Somehow I managed to keep it intact all these years. The bricks have discolored quite a bit from sitting on a shelf near a window. Quote
CommanderFox Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Oh man. You guys were so awesome when you were kids, you make me ashamed. But not ashamed enough not to share. Are those GI Joe PJs! Loving seeing the old quality lego bricks in these pics. For me it would have to be when I got the mini AT-TE for christmas in 04...what a special christmas that was.... I played with it for hours, stacking the bricks on top of each other and generally trying to make some sort of command center thingy. Sadly I don't have any pics as my family did not have a digital cam back then, so no pics from me. CF Quote
smittyfan Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Enjoy, Star Trek was my first love [/img] Awesome! Star Trek for the win! (Also, I can't help but notice the Language book in one of your pictures. I have one just like it!) Quote
Pingles Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Oh man, I wish we had had digital cameras when I was a kid. No pics but my favorite successful projects were: The Robot from the Lost in Space TV series (I'm old) The Ark II from the old Saturday Morning TV series (1970s?) Thunderbird II from the Marionette TV series Every Star Wars ship imaginable (we lived overseas and didn't getbthe toys until several years after the movie came out) Quote
Ralph_S Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Oh man, I wish we had had digital cameras when I was a kid. There were no digital camera when I was a child either, but fortunately I do have a few scanned pictures of old models. This is me when i was about four years old. The Mad Physicist at age 4 by Mad physicist, on Flickr Now let's fast forward to when I was 17 and was already very much into building aircraft. This was an early attempt at building an F-14 Tomcat. Ralph_S Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I also was 17 in 1992, but I didn't play with Lego any more at that time, and wouldn't until almost twenty years later. Does this mean you didn't experience some kind of dark ages? Indeed, I know that there are many people who stop in their teens and pick it up again later, but I didn't. There were times when I didn't build much because I had too many other things to do (studying, social activities, dating, partying etcetera) and I didn't buy any LEGO for many years, but I never completely stopped building during holidays, for instance. I've been building pretty much all my life and I reckon the experience is part of the reason why I can build the sort of things that I do. Cheers, Ralph Quote
Big Cam Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Oh man, I wish we had had digital cameras when I was a kid. My thoughts exactly, I have no pictures that I'm aware of, there might be some actual photos at my parents place. I always remember making hover crafts, probably because the bottoms could always just be flat Well I'm a kfol in side ...... Ok, thanks for contributing Ralph that jet is awesome! Quote
simonjedi Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Unfortunatly my KFoL creations have long been dismantled. I do vaguely remember what one of them looked like, I'll try to rebuild. IMaybe i should do a 2011 version as well just to see how much I haven't improved! Quote
Fallenangel Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Oh man... Actually, I liked this so much that I still have it. Compare: Version 1: Version 8: Quote
simonjedi Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Nice sofa! I don't know what the first model is, but i do live the evolution of the X-wing. Quote
user Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Ha! I wasn't like you guys at all! As a kid I was always freaking out about colors so I usually just made tiny spaceships from the 1 M-tron set I had and a couple pirate things and a couple robots that were at least 50% megabloks ( ) I never took any pics though. Quote
Ralph_S Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 (edited) Ralph that jet is awesome! Thanks man. It looks a bit clunky when I compare it to what's possible nowadays in terms of parts that are available and I reckon I picked up a few ideas and techniques I couldn't do back then, but I think it was a pretty decent effort. Lately I have been thinking about building a jet on a similar scale again, although probably not a Tomcat. Cheers, Ralph Edited March 11, 2011 by Ralph_S Quote
Fallenangel Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 I've had this together for a very long time: Quote
