wooootles Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Hey again, posting my first LEGO CITY vehicle since returning to LEGO from the dark ages: Small SUV! Chromed grill! I have a few of those pieces luckily 'Altezza' tail lights, or at least an imitation... Side view. And yes, most of its pieces are gotten from the 7236 Police Car. The chassis plate, the mudguards, the weird-looking SNOT piece in the front and back are all similar, as well as with the 8402 sports car, so the basic construction is standard CITY style. Of course, with a few CREATOR pieces lying around, there were some basic improvements (like the door). Also, I jacked up the height 2 plates, made it a wagon, put some custom grill guards and steps, and apparently the car turns into an SUV, so here it is. Easy work Comments? Suggestions? Quote
Rufus Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Easy work maybe, but looks great! I like the bars under the doors. I'm just a little worried about the small gap between the front windscreen and the middle windows - doesn't allow a lot of room for the fig to 'get in', even with the doors open (yeah, I know you'd have to take the roof off anyway; I just worry about these things). Still, ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Not bad 'wooootles' ! Another colour might make it look even better ! Good design job there and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
CommanderFox Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Very nice wooootles! I like the design of it, and the parts you have used, especially that beautiful chrome 1x4 plate. It fits in very nicely with the other city cars. Great job! CommanderFox Quote
Thee Pirate Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 That's a very nice official looking MOC. I just wanna throw this out there, I might steal some aspects of your design for an SUV of my own, with your permission of course. Quote
wooootles Posted February 26, 2010 Author Posted February 26, 2010 Thanks for the comments, yall! Not bad 'wooootles' ! Another colour might make it look even better ! Good design job there and I'm a conformist! ! I have the pieces for a red version... except doors. I also have the pieces for yellow... except a 4-wide wedge roof. It sucks! Yellow wedge roof missing? Acceptable. But I can't believe I don't have red doors in my entire inventory! That's a very nice official looking MOC. I just wanna throw this out there, I might steal some aspects of your design for an SUV of my own, with your permission of course. Hah I'd be honored! ~~~ Quote
prateek Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Not bad at all. I love the front, and the backlights are cool too. It looks like a Subaru. Quote
sens1992 Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Your right Prateek, it looks a bit like a Subaru or a Dodge Caliber. This a good looking Car / Crossover Wooootles! Good job! Quote
wooootles Posted February 28, 2010 Author Posted February 28, 2010 Not surprised some people liken it to a crossover/CUV, I mean after all if I just remove a few pieces and lower the ride height it becomes a hot hatch! Thanks! Quote
AwesomeStar Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Very nice. It looks relatively simple to build, but in a good way. Really captures the feel of an SUV. Well done ~A.S. Quote
SilentMode Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 I've been trying to build a six-stud wide SUV with great difficulty. Anyhow, I came across this thread by accident, and I have to say you did a great job. Quote
Aanchir Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Pretty cool. I've always found 4-wide SUVs ridiculous, but this one is despite its size still very attractive. I like the hood in particular-- very nicely-sculpted. Quote
buddy Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Great MOC wooootles! I like the overall appearance of it, despite it's only 4-wide (I would consider a SUV to be 6-wide). Well done. ~buddy~ Quote
wooootles Posted November 5, 2010 Author Posted November 5, 2010 Thanks for the comments! Yep it's a small one, especially compared to my black farm SUV. Since this one has the body of a car (cop car) maybe it makes more sense to call it a crossover? lol Quote
Big Cam Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Thanks for the comments! Yep it's a small one, especially compared to my black farm SUV. Since this one has the body of a car (cop car) maybe it makes more sense to call it a crossover? lol I kind of thought it looked familiar. I say call it a crossover, it looks good as one. Quote
Ralph_S Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 (edited) I think the black farm SUV is much too big. It's the width of a truck! So, this is much better IMO. Many SUVs aren't all that much wider than regular cars, so this goes very well with most other cars in the LEGO city theme, including the fire fighting pick up truck from one or two years ago and the Coast Guard 4WD. Nicely done. Also, even though the body may be four studs wide, if you include the mudguards it's five and including the wheels its six studs wide! Cheers, Ralph Edited November 6, 2010 by Ralph_S Quote
