moom Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 This police HQ looks soo sweeettt But what on earth possesed them to build it on a rock baseplate? A very bad example, disabled minifigs can't visit this police station. I like the use of the new 1x1x2/3 slope brick as headlights and rotating lights, though. With friendly greetings, M. Moolhuysen.
jonfett Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 First of all, welcome to Eurobricks Matt! And secondly, thanks alot for this news!!! What can I say.. wow! The fire trucks look great! They use some of the old pieces from the older trucks and they remind me of sets I saw and had in my childhood. chrome helmets Hmm.. thats what I thought at first but I think it might be just the light shining on a black one. The motor cycle looks great, as do the other viechles! And we got 2 new stations.. a fire station and a police one. Next year sure will be a good year! :'( But does anybody have any idea how much this will cost us?? Jon.
Jipay Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 Well I dunno about the baseplate honestly. Maybe it has more playability for childs than flat surfaces
jonfett Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 I don't mind about the baseplate, it looks alright but it may increase the price a little. I'm more impressed with the 2 helicopters, and I really hope the fire station has them roller doors which the old ones did. Jon.
Jipay Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 it doesn't seems to have the roller doors (: / I know it is kind of dissapointing since I was also expecting this :( But we can't have everything, can we ? :)
jonfett Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 But we can't have everything, can we ? :) Well we should be able to... ;) Anybody else confused about the 7246 digger in the middle of the picture?? *wacko* Why is it released with all the fire and police sets?? Jon.
Jipay Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 I think it's a preview of the rest of it's line, that is to say the crane stuff and the street cleaner. Maybe just to show it's coming (or maybe the rest is on the next page)
Jipay Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 And I must add the torche in the police officer hand can make light by pressing the minifig head (the one at the bottom with the dog)
jonfett Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 Really? So these will be like the jedi for the episode III sets. Sounds cool, but again it will raise the price :/ Jon.
Jipay Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 Well yes, but it reminds me the periode when lego was innovating by proposing light system in sets. And yes jedi should work the exact same way *satis*
sam89 Posted November 6, 2004 Author Posted November 6, 2004 I like them. Especially the Police Station. Here's what I think: 7237 Police Station - This looks awesome. Very big, and it comes with a cool helicopter! I also like the rocky looking prison cell out the front. 7238 Helicopter - We've already seen this set, but it looks pretty cool (but not as cool as the one in the Poilce Station). 7240 Fire Station - I think this set could have been better, but it looks pretty good. I like the small fire truck that comes with it. 7241 Fire Car - Not really very interesting to me. 7246 Digger - It's alright, just not really my thing. 7235 Motorbike - It looks a bit too much like the 4+ Motorbike to me, but still looks quite good. It appears to be the same one that's included in the Police Station set. 7245 Police Van - We've already seen this one as well, but I think it's good. 7236 Police Car - Looks very good for something so small. 7239 Fire Engine - I like it. It looks like it might have a mechanism for lifting the ladder up. The light up torches look good. Can't wait to see them. And I've just looked back at the original list and we still have the following sets to come: 7242 street-cleaning car 7243 building sites set 7244 speedboat with engine 7248 crawler excavators 7249 mobile construction crane
Rato Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 Hi, Very nice sets, but I don't like the fact that the cars don't have doors. Rato
ApophisV Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 Welcome Rato!!! :) Look at this 1x1 slopes!!!!!!!!! *wub* *wub* *wub* I think the helmets are really chrome helmets (sorry, Jon, but I can't imagine this is black with light reflections... :P) Though I'm not sure what the use of metallic helmets should be.... *wacko* Imagine wearing a polished iron helmet while walking through a bruning room... Your head will cook... Metall things are getting hot faster than any other materials, thats why fire fighters shouldnt wear any jewelery....

The Minifigs will wear plastic helmets with a very thin reflective layer, so maybe heat radiation bounces of without heating those up too much. Unfortunately ABS helmets, as well as the minifigs temselves, are probably less heat resistand than a human firefighter :) With friendly greetings, M. Moolhuysen.
David85 Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 The police car and van are wonderfull, as are all the little sets, but the new police station... WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!?! It's on a mountain, there are stairs, always nice if you are hurt to have to walk up stairs. The thing looks like they just stuck bricks on this piontless rock plate thing. I do not understand why Lego needs to make another Police station when they just had one that is 100 times better than this new one. Very disapointed, even more so that they wasted their time making another police station that is terrible when they had a nice one and we still don't have Post Offices and houses, things like that. The helicopter is amazing through, I love it. Looking at the Police Station more the station itself is ok, with the three floors on one side and two on the other. I don't understand that mini deck thing on the left hand side, but that can be removed. Luckily the station itself is in white so it can be fixxed up. The thing that really bothers me is that plate. It should have been on flat ground, and the jail is badly places with too many windows. Then there is the price, I'm guessing at least $70. The other one was $50 and was much smaller (cough better cough) so this will have to be around $70. If it is half off through during the after Christmas sales then it would be worth it for the pices alone. The fire station is nice, the poll seems out of place, but thats ok. Will need to mod it a little, but that's ok I have some red bricks. Unless Lego changes red too. :) But the second floor has no windows, the sign should be above the first floor, and the second and third floors seem to be only 4 deep, that is way too small. One more thing, the motorcycle are terrible, they are just like the Jack Stone ones, they should have brought back the old kind. I mean they are bigger than the police and fire cars! The fire men look nice, I was going to buy a keychain of one but it was $4 which is way too much.

Unfortunately ABS helmets, as well as the minifigs temselves, are probably less heat resistand than a human firefighter :) lol, I thought I could make some real-fire-events for them.... :/ ;) But actually German fire fighters wear glow-in-the-dark helmets... How you can see at my avatar, the German disaster control facility THW has just normal yellow construction worker helmets.... :( The fire fighter helmets look much, much cooler, they always remind me of glow-in-the-dark versions of the rebel pilots' helmets....
David85 Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 This is from Lugnet.... In lugnet.town, Tim Tosino wrote:> Not sure if these are leaked but this is what I saw: > > http://www.eurobricks.com/ The firetruck and fire station are already at the LEGO Store in Tyson's Corner. Sort of unexpected, and I couldn't find them online anywhere, but they are there. -Brian I just went to the Lego Store closest to me on Halloween, not even a week ago and I saw nothing so I will keep you posted. They had the Halloween stuff out so maybe after they clearence that stuff the new sets will be out there. Hopefully they will be, I want those fire cars and trucks, maybe even some pictures of Contruction stuff.
Jipay Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 Thanks for the quote David, we took a screenshot for our press room :) I hope to see those sets before christmas, it would be really appreciated as gifts under the X-mas tree :'(
David85 Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 I do have there phone number I'll call them up in a few week to see if they have them and how much they cost. The store is a good hour drive away but my sister lives near there so thats a good excuse to go it they have them.
David85 Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 Another new piece.. If you look at the top picture, the fire truck lader one, in the front on the side of where the driver goes there seems to be a 1x2 round slope. In the bottom picture of the same set it seems to be the bumper.
Vader Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 Oh man, those motorbikes look cool. Its about time we had some new ones.
Jipay Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 Oh man, those motorbikes look cool. Its about time we had some new ones. Yes and it will allow us to have now the choice between the old-school bike and the new design :)

I think that you're rigtht it's a new part, but I believe it could also be a 1x3 round slope, with a 'plate 1x1 sized'-cutout at the bottom of one end. There seems to be a real gap there, to me it doesn't look like it's filled up with a clear 1x1 plate. Dit someone already mention that, when you look at the available parts, the two models of the top picture seems to be alternatives of the #7239 set? Or am I now saying something that was already obvious to everyone here? With friendly greetings, M. Moolhuysen.

Yes, you seem to be right :-D

I thought it was pretty obvious that they were, but whatever. :P I can't tell if it is a 1x2 or 1x3 with a cutout, I have been looking at it for awhile and still can't figure it out.
